Hey guys thym4n here after a loooooooong time, and man has xy changed pokemon. I`m was really comfortably with my b/w teams, but I’ve gotta adapt! So I bring to you my team (please bear with me as I’m still not the best at team-building).
Tyranitar @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 100 Atk / 152 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Superpower
- Stone Edge
- Ice Beam
Tyranitar, usually my starter. Focus sash for a guaranteed stealth rock. Sash also lets me after switch out so that I can use t-tar later to set my stream or just be death fodder. Tbh, I don’t know what I’m doing with ev’s, so if someone would help me with that. Stone edge for stab. Superpower and ice beam are kind of bad I understand, but I do need the coverage on my team, and often tyranitar can’t switch to check, or get counter-checked. Ice for dragons and ground-flying types.
Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
Excadrill uses Tyranitar to be my sweeper. Sand rush means no scarf, double speed and the ability to switch between my moves. Earthquake and iron head as STAB, iron head for fairies. Rock slide is just more coverage, needed for fire types if I predict properly. Rapid spin for hazards. Orb to hit for more damage. But if t-tar dies early, this guy becomes kind-of shaky. Good to see this guy back from Ubers.
Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Dragon Pulse
-Fire Blast Flamethrower
- Taunt
Hydreigon is a cool poke and becoming one of my favourite. Dark type is a good one, coupled with dragon. Life orb and this guys is mostly my special breaker. This guy can also dual-function as a quick taunt-er, on ferrothorn and skarmory.Fire blast Flamethrower to complement taunt in destroying set-up pokes. I’ve wanted flamethrower but sadly I’ve needed blast to hit certain pokes harder before they kill me. Dark and dragon pulse for stab. Really good guy, I recommend him.
Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Rest
Rotom-Wash, well this is nothing different. Wash is really common, and really good too, so I just stuck him in there. b/w, he used to be staple on my team. Here I wanted wash to fulfill a defensive wall, tank fighting types. In my eyes, I’ve seen water always in a defensive position on my team. Hydro and volt for stab. Will-o-wisp to futher cripple physical attackers. Chest-rest for quick recovery, as pain split does not do much. Thoughts on a rest-talk set. Volt switch assists my pivoting engine.
Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 220 SDef / 36 Spd
Gentle Nature
- Giga Drain
- U-turn
- Thunder Wave
- Recover
This thing complements wash so well and I love it. In b/w, scrotom core used to be really powerful, but this poke ties with rotom-wash really well. Specially defensive to complement wash’s defense. U-turn to assist the pivoting. Giga-drain for stab and recover for recovery. Celebi’s grass typing also helps switch into some good grass types and prevent spore or leech seed. Natural cure just absorbs status really well. Ev’s are from smogon.
Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 68 SAtk / 192 Spd
Modest Nature
- Dazzling Gleam
-Air Slash Wish
- Aura Sphere
- Flamethrower
This final guy. I used to use talonflame instead of this togekiss but there are multiple reasons why I switched. Talonflame 50% loss to SR, resistance to fighting and ground immunity were the same. But togekiss’ fairy typing also helps fighting further, as well as dark and dragons. Again I do not know my ev spreads (from smogon). Dazzling gleamand air slash, serene grace makes slash really amazing for STAB. Sadly I’ve fought over the last 2 slots. Hydregon and tyranitar sometimes aren’t safe to switch for their respective fire or fighting counter, so I had to fill them into to togekiss for extra. But I’ve also fought over for a wish spot to pass, which would also be very helpful. Aura Sphere and Flamethrower to increase coverage. Wish for health and to pass off to others. Thoughts on that.
WEAKNESSES
God where do I start. I forgot most of them but I will identify 2 major things. First, I DO NOT HAVE A MEGA. I realize I am stupid for that, and often I lose to such megas (I opted for a choice scarf ditto for those (also why I used celebi-wash switches, purposely making them slower)), and I need one. But I do not know where I can give up a poke for that position, as all of them are useful. Secondly, a glaring weakness to bug and ice types. To add to that the majority of u-turn switching, really makes switching in hard for me to counter. Also, Celebi and Togekiss are really slacking on their part, not being defensive enough to support the team.
So yeah guys, all help appreciated. Hope you can help, and thanks in advance ^^.
