Time for Changes

I had started on this Team about a week or so ago. My core focus of the team was RP Landorus, with nasty plot pass from a defensive Celebi. I went on looking around and found that Keldeo was also had a great synergy to BP Celebi. I added Banded Scizor and ExpertTar to remove threats what would hinder either Lando or Keldeo sweep, namely things like Lati@s, Jelecent, Celebi. As well as anti weather for Ttar. All was going well, but then... Lando got banned from OU.

It was time to either scrap the team or go with the change:

Thundurus-Therian (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast
- Agility
  • Since I wanted to keep the NP-RP core of the team, I replaced Landorus with Agil-Thundurus-T. It is pretty much a copy of Landorus, just with out sheer force and the Elec stab instead of Ground. When it gets the NP boost and gets to set up Agil, almost nothing stops it. I chose Timid over Modest incase I don't get time to set up Agil or don't have to. The attacks are a given, Tbolt for a reliable stab, HP ice to take out pesky dragon or ground switch ins and act as a BoltBeam coverage. Focus Blast to nail Ferrothorn and such, I forwent GrassKnot b/c Celebi can handle Gastros. This has better immidate power than Landorus but I still like the LO cancellation. Another thing is that this adds on to my teams Ice weakness, so that's annoying.
Scizor @ Flying Gem
Trait: Technician
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Atk / 68 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Acrobatics
  • I started with a classic Banded Scizor, but I kept on being annoyed by Volcorona switching in to resisted hit and burning Scizor. Damn Flame Body. Or Gyarados coming in and setting up DD, etc. Since I was changing the team, thought 'why not deal with that problem?' So in came the AcroZor. KO's Volcorona on the switch, takes out Gyarados, and alot of other Scizor check, plus I can bluff choice set. The Ev's are to out run Jellicent and their scalds or willowisps.
Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 148 HP / 252 Atk / 108 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
  • With Scizor losing the band, I changed TTar to a banded variant, and moved rocks to Lando-T. It pursuit traps alot of things like the Latis, Jelecent, and other psychic types. It also takes out other weather inducers, especially Ninetails going for Solarbeam, ending the their reign(or in this case sun)-of-terror. The Ev's are the out speed most variants of Jellicent. The main job of the T-tar is to be a anti-meta/ weather, it really doesnt need to win weather wars or any thing like that. Additionally it has a good synergy with Celebi and Keldeo.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 200 HP / 64 Atk / 244 Def
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock
  • I transformed my Lando-I into the smogon offensive pivot Lando-T, set. It is great defensively(other than those damn Ice Shards), and Magic Bouncers rarely switch in, so rocks are almost always going to go up. EdgeQuake combo is almost perfect coverage(>.>Bronzong ). U-Turn is for momentum and scouting around. As much as I like Lando-T, the 4x ice weakness is depressing.
Celebi @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 220 HP / 220 SDef / 68 Spd
Calm Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Baton Pass
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
  • Celebi is probably the star of the team, quite alot is based around it. I had started off making it a defensive variant to survive weaker u-turns and for the surprise(who uses a defensive Celebi any way?) but, changed it to SpeDef once I got Lando-T. It is a tank, soaks hits enough to start Nasty Plotting and passing it on. It is a great Ferrothorn counter as they switch in expecting a Giga drain, instead they see Nasty Plot and most variants get OHKO'd by NP boosted HP fire. I have thought of adding recover some where but, most of its moves are necessary. I might switch it to Mew, for less weakness to bug and lower my Ice weakness count, but Mew doesn't have the same surprise as a Celebi
Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Hydro Pump
  • Keldeo is the only pokemon that hasn't had any changes applied. Once walls like Jellicent and Celebi are taken out, it can wreck havok. It has a great synergy with Celebi, is a great NP reciever. After NP, it can OHKO most variants of Politoads even with resisted Hydropump. It can 2HKO Latios with Secret Sword(w/o rocks), especially as it tries to switch in. Any way, HP Ice is to nail Dragons, the choice of Surf and Hydro Pump are there aid in accuracy v. power situation. All in all, now that Lando-I is gone, this is probably my favorite mon in the team.
Any way I need some help to make this team better, so...

Really solid team Nights of Days, i only have one suggestion. I think you should replace either Hydro Pump or Surf and use Hp Bug. By doing that it is easier for your team to deal with baton pass Celebi. Though if you run Hp Bug you will have to replace Hp Ice. If you do add Hp Bug i suggest you replace Hp Ice with Icy Wind. Now you have more coverage though all you lose is either the strength on Hydro Pump or the accuracy on Surf and a Weaker Ice move, but the speed drop can also help.

I hope i helped Night =)

Hi there. Your team is very solid and I really like the elements of surprise that you put on your team, using some lesser expected sets in Celebi and Scizor to get the job done. I honestly can't see many glaring weaknesses, although I would be a little afraid of Mamoswine who you would have to play a little bit around in order to check him. Some sun teams could be potentially dangerous to deal with as well if Tyranitar goes down, but I trust that you know to keep Tyranitar healthy in order to deal with them.

I like scotti's suggestion of HP Bug Keldeo + Icy Wind over Hydro Pump + HP Ice. HP Bug helps Keldeo nail Celebi on the switch in and also helps against Latios and Latias like HP Ice did. Icy Wind is a little bit weaker than HP Ice, but the Speed drop is really nifty and sufficient enough for other pokemon to finish the job if the lack in power proves to kill your Keldeo. Hitting things like Scarf jirachi on the switch in with Icy Wind is a really good way to help your other pokemon set up as well, because it would then be locked into one move while having manageable speed to deal with.

One set you could use on Tyranitar would be Scarf Tyranitar, which is a great revenge killer, trapper, and anti-weather pokemon. It works really well against Venusaur because it isn't outsped by Venusaur when Sandstorm is up, meaning it's an instant threat once it hits the field. You dont have to switch around predicting Giga Drains and HP Fires as much when you are running Scarf; furthermore, common sun offense pokemon such as Espeon can be trapped much easier without the ability to escape with Baton Pass because you are faster to begin with. As a revenge killer, you can use it to pick off annoying pokemon like Keldeo or Terrakion with Superpower. Band Tyranitar obviously packs more of a punch, but I think the trapping capabilities that Scarftar brings to the table could help your team quite a bit.

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Jolly 252 atk/252 spe/4 hp
stone edge/superpower/crunch/pursuit

This is a very well constructed team, I hope it has continued success even after the ban of Landorus-I! =)

Thanks for the rates and suggestions, i will try out HP bug and Icy Wind, but i feel that Icy wind might not be strong enough(w/o NP boost) to take out some of the more bulky dragons like Latias. But then again i guess i could HP bug it. As for SkarfTtar, it would lose too much bulk and I would have a harder time dealing with other weathers plus I already have a Skarfer in Keldeo. I'll test these sets, and get back to you.

Ps: any other tips or changes to resist and counter my ice weakness(especially as you said, Mamo)?

Hey Nights, nice team you have here, love the surprise factor sets!

Anyways, just a quick rate to help out with your Mamoswine problem as the suggestions above cover everything else really. On your Thundurus-T, you could run a bulkier spread with a Modest nature and still have the same sweeping power after an Agility Boost. The following spread: 128 hp/ 252 sp att/ 128 speed allows you to still outspeed all Choice Scarf users after one Boost plus you have slightly more power by using a Modest nature. You could also try using a Yache Berry to give yourself more time to set up against a predicted ice type attack, or to keep your sweep going as Mamo comes in to try and Revenge Kill.

Hopefully this will help, good luck with the team!

I'm trying the suggestions out, but it seems i have a problem with TR teams, as i really don't have immediate power to OHKO Bronzong especially with screens up, and I don't really have time to set up. But I guess that's what TR teams are suppose to do, rite? Any way, MCBarrett, I like the Yache Berry idea, but Idk about the spread, Thundurus doesn't always have time to set up, and has to out speed as much as he can, but ill try looking around for bulkier ev spreads.

Hey, Night of Days. Man, this is a great team!

You do have a pretty bad weakness to Mamoswine as well as LO Starmie, which can KO everyone on your team with one of their coverage moves. I agree with everything that Plus and MCBarrettt have said, since they both had well-thought-out reasoning behind each of their changes. However, while both did help with certain threats to the team, the problem of Mamoswine and other Ice type Pokémon still exists. In order to better deal with this threat, I recommend Bulky Attacker Rotom-W over Landorus-T. Landorus-T doesn't seem to do too much for your team. It checks Dragons, but not ones locked into Outrage...Scizor does that. It checks Terrakion...but Scizor, Celebi, and Keldeo do that too. The only thing it really seems to do for the team is set up Stealth Rock, which is, admittedly, really useful. However, I think Rotom-W fits your team better. It can grab momentum just like Landorus-T, but with STAB, it can spread burn with Will-O-Wisp or paralyze with T-Wave, it can hit things hard with Hydro Pump, it can kill Dragons with HP Ice, it can do all sorts of things. The most important thing, though, is it can handle Starmie and Mamoswine easily, doing a hefty chunk with Volt Switch to Starmie and Hydro Pump easily OHKOs Mamo. Not only that, but your team has a pretty bad weakness to Gyarados, which Rotom-W should be able to help with as well, forcing him to wear himself down by continually setting up Substitutes. Also, Rotom-W can accept the Nasty Plot boosts from Celebi, making it a pretty powerful tank at +2!

This does leave you without SR though. A simple fix is to just put SR over HP Fire on Celebi. Yes, you'll miss being able to kill Scizor, but you have a few other answers to him (Keldeo and Rotom-W), so eliminating him shouldn't be too hard.

Hope I was able to help! Good luck with the team!
