[SET COMMENTS]
Tinkaton's defensive profile makes it a useful check to metagame threats such as Latios, Greninja and Lokix. Knock Off punishes switch-ins such as Excadrill, Heatran, and Rotom-W by removing their leftovers, stacking well with Tinkaton's Stealth Rock, and Rocky Helmet users like Skarmory and Cobalion. Thunder Wave is an option on teams with other Stealth Rock setters such as Heatran, letting it further cripple switch-ins like Heatran and potentially catch with or otherwise force out Tornadus-T. Encore lets Tinkaton shut down set-up Pokemon such as Latios and Zarude and punish Pokemon like Slowking and Mandibuzz for clicking recovery moves. A mixed defensive spread lets TInkaton handle a range of Pokemon like Latios and Lokix as reliably as possible.
Leftovers are useful to switch into Latios more consistently, but Air Balloon in combination with Pickpocket lets Tinkaton steal items on contact from opposing Pokemon such as Lokix and Tornadus-T, although it must be careful to not take an Assault Vest from the latter. Air Balloon also lets Tinkaton switch into Tyranitar once safely, gives it temporary Spikes immunity, and potentially lock an Excadrill into Rapid Spin. Tera Ghost can also be used for this and to block Rapid Spin in an emergency, while Tera Water lets it Encore Skeledirge and avoid being set up bait for it. Both of these options come with severe costs, however, as Tinkaton gives up its excellent defensive typing against Pokemon like Latios and takes away from more potent uses of Tera from offensive Pokemon.
Tinkaton fits on a variety of Bulky Offense and Balance teams due to its useful defensive presence and utility moves. As it has a tendency to give Pokemon like Heatran and Excadrill a lot of free turns, teammates such as Slowking and Hydrapple can help it check these. Slowking also helps cover Tornadus-T which Tinkaton can't do long term, while Hydrapple checks Rotom-W and Thundurus-T and can appreciate Tinkaton paralyzing and removing items from Tornadus-T. Despite running Encore, Tinkaton is unable to stop set up Pokemon like Skeledirge and Excadrill so teammates such as Rotom-W and the previously mentioned Hydrapple are useful for fending them off. Offensive teammates such as Lokix and Latios appreciate Tinkaton's Knock Off and Stealth Rock support against checks such as Rocky Helmet Cobalion and Leftovers Heatran, and appreciate Tinkaton checking Tornadus-T and Latios. While Tinkaton has a useful defensive profile, it prefers its teammates to force a quicker game due to its lack of recovery, strong offensive teammates such as Latios, Keldeo, and Thundurus-T are therefore ideal, and appreciate Tinkaton supporting them against Lokix and opposing Latios. Rapid Spin support from Donphan and Excadrill can let Tinkaton have a more consistent presence in a longer game, while Spikes setters such as Skarmory and Sandy Shocks can help Tinkaton's teammates break the opposing team faster and have a good matchup versus Excadrill to support Tinkaton.
