[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 3 and onwards
**Price Range**: 11-13 points
**Tera Price Range**: 11-15 points
**Overview**: Ogerpon-Cornerstone functions primarily as a strong non-tera breaker, dedicated lead, late game sweeper, or even utility bot, which makes Ogerpon-C an excellent role compression, especially for its usual cheaper price and because of its access to its ability, Sturdy. Though not usually, its offensive prowess can be further bolstered with Terastalization to further boost that reliable rock STAB, which notably also gives it a +1 boost to defence while also turning off its grass type. Due to its locked item slot and lack of ability to tera into any other type than rock, it is often crippled by hazards, especially because of its Sturdy ability, and may feel locked into running certain sets in a match-up due to lack of flexibility in items and tera type. Despite these weaknesses, its move pool is diverse enough, and its hazard weakness can be patched up with strategies like good hazard removal or dedicated leads to make full use of Sturdy.

Common Roles
========
*Wallbreaker*: With access to its unique reliable rock STAB many rock types like Tyranitar and Terrakion wish they had and a 20% boost to all its attacks because of the Cornerstone Mask held item it is locked to, Ogerpon-C can lay waste to most defensive mons in the format coupled with grass STAB for ground types, Superpower or Low Kick fighting coverage for steel types, and even Play Rough fairy coverage for fighting types. Into mons like Corviknight and Skarmory who may try to check through sheer bulk, Ogerpon-C can break through with set up in Swords Dance and Ivy Cudgel’s nasty high crit rate.
*Trailblaze Cleaner*: With access to Trailblaze to boost its speed, Ogerpon-C can threaten a late-game sweep very easily, especially if its ability Sturdy is maintained and its checks weakened.
*Utility Bot*: Outside of its prowess as an amazing offensive piece, Ogerpon-C gets many utility tools like Spikes to act as an entry hazard utility, Knock Off to remove items, Encore to lock slower threats into set up moves or defensive checks like Skarmory into roost, Spiky Shield, Leech Seed, and U-turn to gain momentum on what would be its switch-ins.
Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Ivy Cudgel, Power Whip, Wood Hammer, Horn Leech, Seed Bomb
**Setup Moves**: Swords Dance, Trailblaze
**Utility Moves**: Spikes, Spiky Shield, Knock Off, Encore, Leech Seed, Synthesis, U-turn, Taunt, Substitute
**Coverage**: Superpower, Low Kick, Play Rough, Stomping Tantrum, Zen Headbutt
Niche Moves
========
**Quick Attack**: On the occasion you want Ogerpon-C to have priority over Trailblaze if you think it won’t be possible to set up both Swords Dance and Trailblaze, Quick Attack is a viable option for picking off chipped faster mons or scarfers.
**Counter**: Because of its Sturdy ability to pair, it is seen on rare occasions that Ogerpon-C will lead and click counter on physical mons like Roaring Moon to try to pick up a guaranteed KO while mostly never being in danger yourself due to its ability.
Common Items
========
**Cornerstone Mask**: This item is the only item Ogerpon-C can hold, and it gives it a 20% boost to all of its attacks.
Tera
========
Although not commonly seen due to its lack of flexibility other Tera Captains may have, Ogerpon-C can function as a strong secondary Tera Captain, which has become more common recently. The extra boost to Ivy Cudgel makes resisting switching in even harder, and the defence boost makes setup opportunities easier.
Draft Strategy
========
**Entry Hazard Control**: As Ogerpon-C cannot use Heavy-Duty Boots, having good hazard removal options like rapid spin and defog from Pokemon like Great Tusk or Corviknight help Ogerpon-C keep its Sturdy ability intact. Additionally, having other Pokémon that can use hazards like Spikes and Stealth Rock can help Ogerpon-C break much easier, especially steel types like Metagross, which commonly are run to check it.
**Special Wallbreakers**: Ogerpon-C appreciates strong special wallbreakers to hit the opposing team on the special side as well to avoid the opponent running defence on all their defensive pieces. Some good partners would be Pokémon that hit steel specifically, like Chi-Yu and Iron Valiant.
**Strong Tera Captains**: As Ogerpon-C is either not run as a tera captain or is run as a secondary tera captain, it pairs strongly with Pokemon that benefit a lot from tera, like Tornadus-Therian, Keldeo, and Mew.
**Pivot Options**: Ogerpon-C is not very bulky and usually would like to avoid hard switching into a move to maximize its Sturdy ability. Because of this, having strong pivot Pokémon like Corviknight, Alomomola, and Tornadus-Therian works really well in finding opportunities to get Ogerpon-C in.
Checks and Counters
========
**Faster Threats**: Although it does have a respectable 110 base speed, faster threats like Meowscarada and Weavile can outspeed an Ogerpon-C without Trailblaze and threaten an OHKO through its sturdy ability because of Triple Axel. Even with a Trailblaze, naturally faster scarfers like Roaring Moon and the aforementioned Meowscarada can still outspeed to revenge.
**Priority**: Due to its rock typing, alright bulk, and lack of priority itself aside from the niche Quick Attack and even the even more niche Grassy Glide, Ogerpon-C is threatened by many common priority moves, which include Vacuum Wave from Iron Valiant and Keldeo, Mach Punch from Conkeldurr, and Bullet Punch from Metagross.
**Hazards**: Due to its inability to run Heavy-Duty Boots, Ogerpon-C will be prone to hazards, which will also break its Sturdy ability, hindering its ability to be a sustainable breaker or sweeper over time.
*Status*: As a fast physical attacker, Ogerpon-C will also be massively crippled by status effects like burn, lowering its damage output, and paralysis, making it unable to outspeed much.
