Monotype Tornadus-T (Flying) [ORAS]

[OVERVIEW]

Flying
========

A blessing in the form of Regenerator, in conjunction with Assault Vest and a blistering Speed tier, makes Tornadus-T one of the best pivots and checks to some of the most dangerous threats to Flying teams, such as Keldeo and Latios. Additionally, Regenerator lets Tornadus-T act as a sponge to moves like Scald and Toxic, which are typically annoying for Flying teams. Tornadus-T also has an extremely vast movepool, with coverage options like Heat Wave and utility moves like Knock Off and U-turn. However, Tornadus-T's poor physical bulk leaves it vulnerable to revenge killing from faster Pokemon like Weavile and Choice Scarf Terrakion and priority users like Bisharp and Mamoswine. Furthermore, its lackluster Special Attack makes it overly reliant on the unreliable Hurricane to have an offensive presence.

move 4: Heat Wave

ability: Regenerator
nature: Timid
evs: 248 HP / 52 SpD / 208 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Hurricane is Tornadus-T's most spammable move, notably allowing it to check Keldeo. Air Slash is an alternative option on teams that run Mega Charizard Y. U-turn and Knock Off let Tornadus-T take advantage of its ability to switch into and force out threats. This combination of moves is particularly great against Psychic teams. Knock Off's utility is especially appreciated on Flying teams, as it threatens the Normal defensive core of Porygon2 + Chansey, wastes Colbur Berry on Pokemon like Slowbro, and cripples walls with no other recovery like Bronzong and Heatran. Heat Wave covers Steel-types like Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Excadrill. The given EV spread allows Tornadus-T to outspeed threats like Raikou, Starmie, and Choice Scarf Magnezone, with the rest being put into HP and Special Defense to take full advantage of Assault Vest. Specifically, Tornadus-T is able to switch into Choice Specs Keldeo's Hydro Pump and Choice Specs Latios's Draco Meteor after Stealth Rock damage. Tornadus-T also lives takes any hit from a +2 Expert Belt Deoxys-S at full HP.

Being a reliable pivot and a check to important threats, Tornadus-T is easy to fit on any Flying team. Defoggers like Skarmory and Zapdos make it easier to pivot with Tornadus-T. The trio also form a great defensive core. Zapdos and Tornadus-T, in particular, form a strong VoltTurn core that supports the rest of the team. Wallbreakers like Mega Charizard Y, Landorus, and Dragonite appreciate Tornadus-T's ability to bring them in safely with U-turn and cripple defensive switch-ins with Knock Off. In return, they can break through common defensive answers to Tornadus-T like Zapdos and Empoleon. Choice Scarf Landorus-T notably forms a great Knock Off + U-turn spamming core with Tornadus-T, which is powerful against Psychic teams. Mega Aerodactyl helps against other Flying teams by dealing with Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, Thundurus, and Zapdos. Its Pursuit trapping Victini also makes it a formidable partner to Tornadus-T against Psychic. Furthermore, Mega Aerodactyl and both Landorus formes can set Stealth Rock, making Tornadus-T's pivoting with U-turn more effective. Mega Gyarados appreciates Tornadus-T's ability to bring it in safely to start its sweep. Tornadus-T's Knock Off also wastes Colbur Berry, making sure Mega Gyarados won't be surprised by any lures. Gliscor is a great stallbreaking partner that can deal with defensive answers to Tornadus-T, like Cradily and Mandibuzz, as well as Mega Garchomp. Tornadus-T appreciates Thundurus's ability to cripple faster revenge killers with Prankster Thunder Wave. The two also form a menacing VoltTurn core.

**Revenge Killers**: Choice Scarf users like Terrakion, Victini, and Kyurem-B, naturally faster Pokemon like Weavile and Mega Lopunny, and priority users like Mamoswine, Dragonite, and Bisharp can either easily OHKO Tornadus-T outright or after prior damage.

**Bulky Pokemon**: Bulky Pokemon like Zapdos, Empoleon, Gliscor, and Porygon2 take barely anything from Tornadus-T's attacks and can threaten it in some way. However, Tornadus-T can cripple them with Knock Off on the switch.

**Paralysis**: Paralysis prevents Tornadus-T from switching into slower threats like Keldeo, as it gets 2HKOed by their powerful attacks.

* At the same time, however, Tornadus-T's bulk on the physical side leaves a lot to be desired, leaving it prone to revenge killing from faster Pokemon like Weavile and Choice Scarf Terrakion, and priority users like Bisharp and Mamoswine.

[SET COMMENTS]
- Heat Wave rounds out Tornadus-T's coverage, letting it hit Steel types like Scizor, Ferrothorn,(AC) and Excadrill.
- The given EV spread allows Tornadus-T to outspeed threats like Raikou, Starmie,(AC) and Choice Scarf Magnezone, with the rest being put into HP and Special Defense to take full advantage of Assault Vest. Specifically, Tornadus-T is able to switch into Choice Specs Keldeo's Hydro Pump and Choice Specs Latios' Draco Meteor after Stealth Rock damage. Tornadus-T also lives any hit from full from a +2 Expert Belt Deoxys-S.

- Mega Aerodactyl's Pursuit makes it a formidable partner to Tornadus-T in the Psychic- and Ghost Flying-type matchups. I'd rather mention that it helps in the mirror by dealing with stuff like Mega Charizard Y, Thundurus, and Zapdos. Its main niche in the Psychic-type mathchup is trapping Victini, so I feel that you can specifically state that.
- Gliscor is a great stallbreaking partner to Tornadus-T which can deal with defensive answers to it, like Cradily and Mandibuzz. I think Mega Garchomp deserves a mention here as well.

add paralysis in C&C since it makes it slower than threats (keldeo) for example or like a usage tip regarding mindlessly switching into thunder wave users like cobalion. Idk if Electric part in C&C is needed, same for Rock-types since you mentioned Superpower in OO already
