[OVERVIEW]
With a great Speed tier, powerful Flying-type STAB move in Hurricane, and abundance of coverage and utility moves to choose from, Tornadus-T has all of the tools necessary to be a top-tier Pokemon in ORAS OU. Tornadus-T’s upsides don’t end there, however. It was also gifted one of the best abilities in the game in Regenerator, making it one of the few Pokemon that can effectively utilize Assault Vest. The combination of Regenerator and Assault Vest, plus its access to U-turn, makes Tornadus-T one of the best pivots in the metagame. However, although Tornadus-T’s mono-Flying typing gives it a few crucial immunities and resistances, it is also one of Tornadus-T’s greatest impediments. With Stealth Rock taking away 25% of its HP every time it switches in, Tornadus-T can quickly get overwhelmed by the Pokemon it is supposed to check.

Moves

Hurricane provides Tornadus-T with a strong Flying-type STAB move, allowing it to hit Pokemon such as Serperior and Keldeo hard. The second moveslot is very team dependent. Heat Wave allows Tornadus-T to hit Pokemon such as Mega Metagross, Mega Scizor, and other Steel-types hard and is generally the best option. Superpower allows Tornadus-T to threaten Pokemon such as Tyranitar and Heatran. Hidden Power Ice can be used if your team needs a back-up check to Gliscor and hits Garchomp and Landorus-T harder than Hurricane would, but it is usually the least useful of the three options. If your team is weak to Mega Charizard Y or Volcarona, Smack Down is an option that allows Tornadus-T to hit them for super effective damage. This is usually not recommended, though, as Smack Down is very weak and Tornadus-T’s ability to check Mega Charizard Y and Volcarona with it is shaky at best. For its final two moveslots, Knock Off and U-turn are both mandatory for Tornadus-T. Knock Off allows Tornadus-T to cripple its switch-ins by removing their item, while U-turn lets Tornadus-T gain momentum and make use of its wonderful ability in Regenerator.

Assault Vest allows Tornadus-T to check common special attackers such as Keldeo, Serperior, and Latios. 252 Speed EVs with a Speed-boosting nature allows Tornadus-T to outspeed Pokemon such as Starmie, Choice Scarf Tyranitar, Serperior, and the rare Alakazam. When running Superpower, a Jolly nature can be used to guarantee that Tornadus-T can get the OHKO against no bulk Tyranitar after Stealth Rock and deal more damage to Pokemon such as Heatran and Excadrill. When running Hidden Power Ice, a spread of 144 HP / 148 SpA / 216 Spe is recommended with a Timid nature, allowing Tornadus-T to 2HKO Gliscor with Hidden Power Ice while still outspeeding Choice Scarf Tyranitar and keeping as much bulk as possible.
Usage Tips
========
Tornadus-T should be used as a pivot against common special attackers such as Keldeo and Latios. When Stealth Rock is not on the field, Tornadus-T can switch into these Pokemon pretty freely thanks to its incredible special bulk with an Assault Vest and its ability Regenerator. When Stealth Rock is set, however, Tornadus-T must be much more careful. For example, after Stealth Rock damage, Mega Alakazam is able to 2HKO Tornadus-T with Psychic, and Choice Specs Latios has a slight chance to OHKO Tornadus-T with Draco Meteor. Choice Specs Keldeo is also able to muscle through Tornadus-T with either Hydro Pump or Scald after a couple of switch ins.
If Tornadus-T does not have any significant defensive value versus your opponent's team, you can make use of its access to Knock Off to remove items from Pokemon such as Heatran, Clefable, and Rotom-W, crippling them for the rest of the game and opening up doors for Tornadus-T's teammates. All three of the aforementioned Pokemon can carry status moves, though, so you must carefully weigh the risk of getting inflicted by status in return for removing an item.
During battle, it is often best to switch Tornadus-T into a Pokemon that it checks and then use U-turn to gain momentum and gauge your opponent's reaction to Tornadus-T or Knock Off to punish your opponent's switch-in. Hurricane, since it can be a big momentum killer early- to mid-game, should usually only be used late-game when your opponent's team is weakened or in a scenario where it is too risky to use U-turn or Knock Off.
Team Options
========
Assault Vest Tornadus-T fits well on bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate its ability to sponge special attacks and maintain offensive momentum. Bulky Ground-types such as TankChomp, Gliscor, and Hippowdon pair well with Tornadus-T, as all three are able to switch into Tyranitar and are immune to Electric-type attacks, and the former two are also able to switch into Heatran, while Tornadus-T is able to tank hits from strong Water- and Grass-types such as Keldeo and Serperior. Gastrodon is also worth mentioning for its ability to wall all of the relevant Electric-types in the tier. Excadrill is also a good partner, as it is able to remove Stealth Rock and switch into Pokemon such as Clefable. Strong Water- and Fighting-types such as Keldeo, Azumarill, and Mega Medicham can take advantage of some of Tornadus-T's common checks and appreciate the safe switches that it gives them. Clefable is a solid partner, as it is able to switch into Pokemon that force Tornadus-T out such as Weavile and Choice Scarf Tyranitar, as well as Rotom-W and Zapdos. Clefable also appreciates Tornadus-T removing the items from Pokemon such as Heatran and Excadrill. Similarly, Serperior appreciates Tornadus-T's ability to remove Heatran's item, and it is also able to switch into and threaten Pokemon such as Rotom-W. Lastly, strong Steel-types such as Mega Metagross and Mega Scizor are able to take advantage of Tornadus-T pivoting out versus Clefable, and the latter also appreciates Tornadus-T's ability to remove the items from Pokemon such as Heatran and Rotom-W.

Moves
=========
One of the things that makes offensive Tornadus-T so dangerous is its access to STAB Hurricane, a move that compensates for its 70% accuracy with raw power. Superpower is the coverage option of choice, as it enables Tornadus-T to hit Tyranitar, Heatran, Chansey, and Excadrill for super effective damage and hits all of them harder than Focus Blast would. Taunt is used to stop Pokemon such as Gliscor, Clefable, Chansey, Hippowdon, and Gastrodon from using their recovery moves, which helps Tornadus-T break through bulkier teams. It can also be used to deny entry hazards from various Pokemon, such as Garchomp and Ferrothorn. In the last slot, you can use either Knock Off or U-turn. Knock Off is useful when going against Chansey or Rotom-W, since removing their item will severely cripple them. It is also useful against Zapdos and opposing Assault Vest Tornadus-T. If you would prefer gaining momentum over removing items, you can use U-turn.
Set Details
========
76 Attack EVs alongside a Life Orb allows Tornadus-T to OHKO offensive Excadrill and most non-Chople Berry Tyranitar with Superpower. It also allows Tornadus-T to 2HKO maximum HP investment Heatran after Stealth Rock and maximum HP investment Bold Chansey after removing its Eviolite. 252 Speed EVs with a positive nature should be used to take advantage of Tornadus-T's incredible Speed tier, outspeeding Pokemon such as Thundurus, Serperior, and Starmie and Speed tying with opposing Tornadus-T. A Naive nature is usually preferred to take hits from priority users such as Mega Scizor, Azumarill, and Bisharp better; however, a Hasty nature can be used if you need Tornadus-T to switch into special attackers like Serperior. The rest of the EVs are dumped into Special Attack to maximize the power of Tornadus-T's Hurricane, allowing it to 2HKO Gliscor and Bold Clefable. Regenerator gives Tornadus-T the longevity it needs to properly break bulkier teams.
Usage Tips
========
When playing against bulkier teams, Tornadus-T should be used as a wallbreaker. This means bringing it in safely on Pokemon that it threatens out and then punching holes into the opponent's team with Hurricane or using Knock Off to remove an item or U-turn to gain momentum. When playing against more offensive teams, you should take advantage of Tornadus-T's excellent Speed tier and use it as a revenge killer. You can also make use of Tornadus-T's natural bulk and switch it into Pokemon such as Serperior, although you should be wary of a potential Glare. Even with Regenerator recovery, Tornadus-T can quickly be worn down from Stealth Rock damage, Life Orb recoil, and attack damage. This means that you should always be aware of the importance of Tornadus-T's HP and shouldn't throw it into attacks.
Team Options
========
Some of the biggest thorns in Tornadus-T's side are Electric-types, primarily Rotom-W and Zapdos, so teammates that can wear down or lure in those two Pokemon are appreciated. Slowbro is a notable mention, especially if running Toxic. Even without Toxic, Slowbro can still fish for Scald burns against these Pokemon, and Tornadus-T is able to check Grass-types that threaten Slowbro. Heatran is another Pokemon that can lure in and potentially poison or burn Rotom-W. Speaking of Rotom-W, it actually functions well alongside Tornadus-T, as it is able to use Volt Switch against Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Tangrowth, giving Tornadus-T a free switch in. Starmie is a Pokemon that functions in a similar way to Slowbro, luring in Rotom-W and other Electric-types and either burning or poisoning them. Starmie is also able to remove Stealth Rock with Rapid Spin. Tornadus-T is able to help Starmie by luring in Tyranitar and KOing it with Superpower. Excadrill can also remove Stealth Rock with Rapid Spin for Tornadus-T, and Sand Rush variants can run Toxic to lure in and cripple Rotom-W. Hippowdon is another notable teammate, as it can check the majority of Tornadus-T's offensive answers such as Mega Metagross, Mega Diancie, and Sand Rush Excadrill. Hippowdon can also lure in Rotom-W and inflict it with Toxic poison. Lastly, Serperior can check Rotom-W and appreciates Tornadus-T's ability to lure in Heatran and damage it with Superpower. Serperior is also able to catch opposing Assault Vest Tornadus-T with Glare, making your own Tornadus-T's job much easier.

Other Options
=============
Air Slash is an option on the Assault Vest set if you want a more accurate Flying-type STAB move; the huge drop in power is usually not worth it, however. Icy Wind has some merit, since it drops the foe's Speed. The only reason to run Ice-type coverage on Tornadus-T is to check Gliscor, though, and Icy Wind is not a guaranteed 2HKO. Focus Blast can be used over Superpower, but it is much less consistent due to its lower accuracy. On top of that, the Pokemon that you want to hit with your Fighting-type coverage are generally bulkier on the special side, such as Chansey, Heatran, and Tyranitar, so Superpower does more to them.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Electric-types**: Zapdos is probably the best counter to Tornadus-T, as it resists the majority of Tornadus-T's attacks and can recover any damage taken with Roost. Rotom-W can switch into Tornadus-T and can get a slow Volt Switch off against it or threaten it with a Will-O-Wisp or Thunder Wave. Rotom-W does not appreciate its item being removed by Knock Off, however, as Leftovers is its only form of recovery outside of Pain Split. Thundurus is a Pokemon that can offensively check Tornadus-T, as it naturally resists Tornadus-T's STAB move and U-turn. It must be wary of Hidden Power Ice and Knock Off, though.
**Steel-types**: Many Steel-types can check Tornadus-T if it lacks the proper coverage move to hit them. Heatran can check all non-Superpower variants of Tornadus-T, as it resists both Hurricane and U-turn. Heatran's only form of recovery is Leftovers, however, so once it gets hit by Knock Off, it is very easy to wear down. Specially defensive Skarmory is able to switch into Assault Vest Tornadus-T if it lacks Heat Wave. Specially defensive Jirachi is one of the best answers to Tornadus-T, as it is naturally bulky and has access to Wish, which allows it to stay healthy. Choice Scarf Jirachi can also revenge kill Tornadus-T fairly reliably. Lastly, Mega Metagross can check all Tornadus-T variants, as Heat Wave only has a small chance to 2HKO it, and its Ice Punch and Thunder Punch both have an almost certain chance to OHKO Tornadus-T after Stealth Rock.
**Rock-types**: Tyranitar is able to switch into non-Superpower Tornadus-T and threaten it out with its Rock-type STAB moves, although U-turn will quickly wear it down. Tyranitar also has the option to Pursuit trap Tornadus-T. Mega Diancie can switch into Tornadus-T a couple of times and threaten it out with Diamond Storm. Mega Aerodactyl is a Pokemon that can switch into all of Tornadus-T's attacks and recover off the damage with or threaten it with a powerful Stone Edge.
**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Specially defensive Pokemon that are not weak to Tornadus-T's coverage such as Clefable, Gliscor, Slowking, Gastrodon, and Hippowdon can all switch into non-offensive Tornadus-T and heal off the damage with their recovery moves. These Pokemon will get shut down by the rare Taunt Tornadus-T, however.
**Faster Attackers**: Faster Pokemon such as Mega Lopunny, Weavile, Mega Manectric, Sand Rush Excadrill, and some Choice Scarf Pokemon can outspeed and revenge kill Tornadus-T. Most of these Pokemon can not switch into Tornadus-T's attacks, however. Weavile is a Pokemon worth highlighting for its ability to Pursuit trap Tornadus-T.
