Torterra

[OVERVIEW]

  • Very versatile.
  • Can run many sets, with many luring certain threats.
  • Strong and bulky.
  • Low speed means even the faster sets can be outspeed.
  • STABs hit most of the tier for neutral damage.
  • Typing is a double - edged sword as Torterra is crippled by its ice, bug, flying and fire type weaknesses.
[SET]
name: Tanktoise
move 1: Synthesis
move 2: Wood Hammer / Seed Bomb
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Stealth Rock / Stone Edge / Toxic
item: Leftovers
ability: Shell Armour
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Synthesis heals Torterra's health, which compliments it's bulk.
  • Wood Hammer and Earthquake are powerful moves which stop Torterra from being passive.
  • Seed Bomb is another option for if recoil isn't wanted, however it missed out on many of the KOs Wood Hammer gets.
  • Stealth Rock lets it set hazards and compress roles on the team.
  • Stone Edge is another option to deal with Flying types like Swellow, Charizard and Scyther that can otherwise beat this set.
  • Toxic can also be used to deal chip damage to opponents but is usually not as good as the previous options.

Set Details
========

  • EVs and nature mean it avoids the OHKO from all moves bar Abomasnow's Blizzard.
  • Outspeeds uninvested Torterra.
  • Leftovers maximises bulk with its gradual health restoration.
  • Shell Armour stops critical hits, the bane of many other stall Pokemon.

Other Options
=============

  • Rock Slide can be used over Stone Edge.
  • Substitute can be used on the Rock Polish set, or a set with Substitute and Leech Seed can be used.
  • Lum Berry can be used on the Rock Polish set to heal burns from Pokemon like Weezing.
  • Yache Berry can be used on some of the sets to survive a hit from Pokemon like Abomasnow.
  • Soft Sand can be used over Life Orb to avoid the recoil.

I've got quite a few sets ATM, so please say if you feel any aren't needed :). I'm not the best NU-er, so any advice would be much appreciated.

i know this is wip but cmon man, i know you "aren't the best nu-er" but its not hard to fucking type /weak torterra. there's a lot more even at this early stage i see but this is just lol.

im really surprised qc allowed this based on how your ru analysis went yesterday, its good that you want to contribute but you should really get more knowledge before writing these.

Similar to how your last attempt at an analysis went, I'm locking this as well, there are so many things wrong with this I don't even know where to start.

Firstly, your overview is the spitting image of exactly what not to do, simply just state common sense information and stuff I can figure out by looking at Serebii or simply knowing Pokemon knowledge.

I don't think you've played NU seriously since specially defensive and choice scarf torterra and certainly not close to viable sets.

The fact that shell armor is actually on some of these sets is troubling because overgrow is superior 100% of the time.

You will not be writing the Vigoroth analysis or any other NU analysis until you can show myself and the rest of the QC team you know this tier.
