[SET COMMENTS]
Torkoal is an excellent choice for sun-based Fire teams thanks to its valuable role compression that consists of setting up sun and Stealth Rock, removing entry hazards, and tanking physical attacks. Lava Plume provides decent damage and a high chance to burn, which proves particularly useful against physical attackers like Zamazenta, Ogerpon-W, and Iron Hands. Body Press allows Torkoal to make use of its high Defense to heavily damage the likes of Kingambit, Blissey, and Tyranitar as well as preventing Roaring Moon from setting up freely and Heatran from switching in freely. Heavy-Duty Boots greatly increases Torkoal's longevity, while Heat Rock provides more turns of sun for setup allies to benefit from, such as Morning Sun Volcarona. If using Heavy-Duty Boots, getting fewer turns of sun also allows Fire teams to better manage opposing Protosynthesis sweepers, such as Flutter Mane or Walking Wake.
Gouging Fire is an amazing teammate, as it is a near-unstoppable wallbreaker in conjunction with Torkoal’s sun and entry hazard removal support. Ogerpon-H is another excellent wallbreaker under sun that greatly threatens Water. Thanks to its ability to wallbreak past Dondozo due to Mold Breaker, Ogerpon-H pairs well with Gouging Fire, which is often stopped cold by Dondozo. Ceruledge provides valuable speed control with Shadow Sneak, allowing it to deal with troublesome threats to Fire teams such as Flutter Mane and Choice Scarf Iron Boulder. These sweepers also greatly appreciate Torkoal’s Stealth Rock support. Volcarona benefits from Torkoal’s sun support, as the additional healing with sun-boosted Morning Sun and weakening of Water-type moves from Greninja and Keldeo greatly eases its ability to set up; in return, Volcarona deals with walls such as Toxapex and non-Stone Edge Zamazenta. Flame Body can also be useful to cripple threats like Great Tusk and Azumarill. Choice Scarf Iron Moth is an excellent check to Walking Wake and Great Tusk with a Speed boost from Protosynthesis; it can also be an excellent late-game cleaner against Steel and Fairy once checks such as Heatran and Primarina are removed. Cinderace can aid Torkoal in keeping off hazards with Court Change. Pyro Ball under sun also forces a lot of switches, which allows Cinderace to use U-turn to safely pivot in wallbreakers. Torkoal appreciates Rotom-H, as its Ground immunity combined with Volt Switch allows it to easily switch in for Torkoal and safely pivot in a sweeper.
Other Options
====
Yawn can be used over Body Press to force switches, allowing Torkoal to freely bring a teammate that can benefit from sun.
