RU Toxicroak

[OVERVIEW]

Toxicroak safely switches into slow-paced walls such as Milotic and Suicune thanks to Dry Skin and its immunity to Toxic, giving it ample setup opportunities. Boosted Toxicroak can be an issue for balance teams, as its STAB moves minimize opposing switch-in options other than Crobat. Its typing allows it to naturally stave off Golisopod, Roserade, and Sharpedo, but, due to its frailty, it relies on entry hazard removal to do so. Toxicroak does not fare well in one-on-one matchups against Steelix, Metagross, or any Psychic-type early-game due to its frailty and underwhelming power without Swords Dance or Nasty Plot boosts. Faster threats like Raikou and Noivern can also overwhelm Toxicroak easily., as Sucker Punch is too weak to pick them off without a massive amount of prior chip damage.

[SET COMMENTS]

Toxicroak sets up freely on Milotic and Suicune or after forcing out Roserade and Fairy-types like Togekiss and Sylveon with Gunk Shot. Drain Punch allows Toxicroak to recover lost health from Life Orb and hit the vast majority of the common Steel-types in the tier. Sucker Punch helps justify using Toxicroak over fellow Fighting-types Cobalion and Heracross, picking off faster foes easily. It also covers Doublade if Toxicroak’s team has potent speed control or struggles to remove Flying-types holding Heavy-Duty Boots.

Toxicroak's ability to threaten certain cores and prevent Milotic and Suicune from making any progress is a great asset; however, without Sucker Punch, it cannot match up well against faster teams. Teammates like Noivern and Xurkitree help against threats Toxicroak struggles with like Celebi and Crobat; additionally, they can lure in Pokemon Toxicroak does well against like Sylveon and Roserade. Golisopod is especially important for setting up Spikes, which guarantees the valuable KOs Toxicroak needs, and bringing Knock Off support to help teams break through Flying-types. Since Toxicroak dislikes early-game matchups against bulky Pokemon like Gastrodon, Metagross, and Steelix, wallbreakers like Necrozma, Toxic Volcanion, and other Psychic- or Fire-types can help it. While Toxicroak does well against Togekiss and Roserade, it gets chipped and overwhelmed on its own, so additional checks like Crobat and Necrozma are advisable. On rain teams, though, Dry Skin gives Toxicroak the longevity to better handle them, and it can check bulky Water-types that usually wall rain teams lacking Ludicolo.

[SET COMMENTS]

Toxicroak can run a special set to set up on Umbreon, Milotic, and Suicune more easily. Notably, it does much more damage to physical walls like Gastrodon and Calm Mind Reuniclus, which can hold off Swords Dance Toxicroak; however, its lack of priority gives it a worse matchup against offensive teams. Focus Blast threatens Gastrodon and Metagross when boosted, but its 70% accuracy is dangerous due to Toxicroak's lack of bulk. Sludge Bomb is a strong neutral STAB move that pressures the likes of Sylveon, Togekiss, Galarian Weezing, and Roserade and can threaten to poison staples like Diancie and Assault Vest Reuniclus. Shadow Ball hits Mimikyu super effectively and ensures that other Ghost-types such as Doublade and Polteageist don't blank Toxicroak. Shadow Ball also circumvents specific Colbur Berry-utilizing threats such as Reuniclus that can otherwise OHKO Toxicroak

Special Toxicroak needs speed control from paralysis spreaders such as Thunder Wave Cobalion and Togekiss., as well as Stun Spore Roserade. The latter can also aid with Spikes support, much like Knock Off Golisopod, which removes Heavy-Duty Boots from Flying-types. To patch up weaknesses, Steelix or Stakataka and Togekiss or Noivern give Toxicroak teams reliable switch-ins to Flying- and Ground-type attacks. Assault Vest Reuniclus beats any variant of Nidoqueen—which checks Toxicroak very well— and checks Necrozma, Celebi, and Starmie, all of which threaten or revenge kill Toxicroak. Xurkitree lures in foes that Toxicroak does well against, such as specially defensive walls and Fairy-types, and gives it free switch-ins from Volt Switch. Special Toxicroak is also the best set for rain teams, nailing walls to rain such as Gastrodon and Roserade whilst absorbing Toxic from them and allowing for a different Swift Swim user that benefits from bulky Water-types from being removed.

Rock Tomb can be used over Knock Off to threaten the Flying-types that wall Toxicroak, lowering their Speed so that they can be 2HKOed, or slow down switch-ins so that they're dealt with more easily. Stone Edge OHKOes Crobat and Noivern, but it's less consistent. Vacuum Wave can be run against offensive teams on Nasty Plot Toxicroak to pick off weakened foes; however, Toxicroak usually doesn't have the space for it. Choice Scarf allows it to deal with Pokemon that naturally outspeed it, making it an unexpected revenge killer for the likes of Raikou, Crobat, and Starmie. Unfortunately, this can leave Toxicroak as setup fodder for Pokemon that switch into resisted moves due to its underwhelming Attack without Life Orb or boosts.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Threats**: Raikou, Flygon, and Obstagoon can all threaten Toxicroak without Sucker Punch and force it out; they also have enough bulk to survive a +2 Sucker Punch unless they have taken chip damage.

**Bulky Ground-types**: Nidoqueen can wall and OHKO both variants of Toxicroak, while Gastrodon is a roadblock for physical Toxicroak, though it also threatens to OHKO.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Galarian Weezing can withstand boosted Gunk Shot and cripple Toxicroak with Will-O-Wisp. Talonflame's Flame Body can cripple Toxicroak when switching into Drain Punch and force it out. Doublade can wall Sucker Punch Toxicroak. However, Nasty Plot Toxicroak beats these walls.

[OVERVIEW]

Toxicroak has earned it's neiche in the tier by being a phenomenal switch-in to slow-paced walls such as Milotic and Suicune due to Dry Skin, and it's Toxic immunity - using them as ample set-up opportunity. Boosted Toxacroak can be an issue for balance teams as its STAB minimizes any switch-ins other than Crobat, which can be dealt with coverage such as Rock Tomb, but loosing out on Sucker Punch or Knock Off would harden Toxicroak's time against faster threats or Doublade. (try to avoid talking about things that are not listed in the main set, since it tends to distract from the mon's most common usage). Toxicroak does not want to match up one-on-one against into Steelix, Metagross or any Psychic-type early due to Toxicroak being frail and underwhelming without Swords Dance or Nasty Plot boosts. [Talk about how it requires team support, like Spikes, Knock Off users, and other wallbreakers for it to be effective] As well as this, faster threats like Raikou and Noivern can overwhelm Toxicroak easily due to its naturally lacking bulk allowing it to be picked off; Sucker Punch is too weak to pick them off without a massive amount of chip damage. To make up for its mediocre speed tier, Toxicroak can run a Choice-Scarf that can outrun fast checks like Crobat and KO it with super-effective coverage. see above about not mentioning uncommon sets outside of Other Options section.

Toxicroak serves as a wallbreaker that sets up freely on Milotic and Suicune thanks to Dry Skin and its Toxic immunity, giving it ample setup opportunities alongside its ability to threaten Roserade and force out Fairy-types like Togekiss and Sylveon with Gunk Shot. Drain Punch allows Toxicroak to recover lost health from Life Orb chip, aswell as nailing the vast majority of the common Steel-types in the tier. However, it struggles with certain Pokemon such as Seismitoad Gastrodon (bulkier and has recovery) and Crobat and faces slight competition as a Fighting-type from Cobalion and Heracross, which bring their own defensive qualities, and in Heracross's case, much more power. Knock Off is able to cripple usual switch-ins and deals more damage against Doublade and Necrozma, but does sacrifice a potentially useful tool against offense in Sucker Punch, which prevents Pokemon like Raikou, Choice Scarf Xurkitree and Starmie from revenge killing Toxicroak.

[I would like this to have Sucker Punch > Knock Off; you become way more useful against offense and actually threaten to realistically sweep. A pure wallbreaking set is largely outclassed by Heracross, which has better coverage and immediate power. Sucker lets it pick off weakened teams / offensive threats and is a big reason why Toxicroak is ever worth using. Let teammates do the Knock Off-ing for Croak]

Toxicroak's ability to threaten certain cores and prevent Milotic and Suicune from making any progress is a great asset, but against more offensive teams, it struggles to find matchups where it can reliably threaten the opposition without Sucker Punch. Teammates like Noivern and Xurkitree can help against threats like Celebi and Crobat, and they can also bait in Pokemon Toxicroak does well against, like Sylveon and Roserade. Alolan Marowak prevents Raikou and Xurkitree from freely using Volt Switch against Toxicroak and appreciates Toxicroak dealing with Milotic and Suicune. Both can also weaken Gastrodon and Seismitoad for each other. [You're ... not wrong, but this section is already long and I think there's a lot more important things to mention] Toxicroak's dislike for early-game matchups against bulky Pokemon like Seismitoad, Metagross, and Steelix can be shored up with wallbreakers like Necrozma and Toxic Volcanion [..."and other Psychic or Fire-types that can weaken these walls", maybe?]. While Toxicroak does well against Togekiss and Roserade, it's advisable to carry additional checks like Crobat and Durant, as Toxicroak is liable to being overwhelmed by itself from repeated hits and Life Orb recoil. This can also be prevented on Rain teams: as Toxicroak has a reliable neiche on rain, allowing it heal off life orb chip and check bulky Water-types that would usually wall rain teams lacking Ludicolo. However Toxicroak can be justified over Ludicolo for another Swift Swimmer due to it being immune to Toxic and not having life orb wearing you down whilst compressing the same roles. (gets a little too specific)

MENTION GOLISOPOD!!! This is Croak's #1 partner; it sets Spikes to weaken most walls, knocks Boots off of Flying-types, and even checks Psychic-types like Reuniclus.

Toxicroak can run a special attacking set to set-up easier against against Foul Play users like Umbreon and Bulky Water-types like Milotic and Suicune, enabling Toxicroak to boost and OHKO the majority of the tier. [make this set's niche clear with something like "Notably, it does much more damage to physical walls like Gatrodon and CM Reuniclus that can hold off SD Toxicroak; however, its lack of priority gives it a worse matchup against offense."] Focus Blast ensures this against Seismitoad,Gastrodon and Metagross when boosted, as well as being a strong neutral STAB that limits switch-ins in conjunction with Sludge Bomb. [mention that its 70% accuracy is a big issue with the set, giving it huge potential but also requiring it to hit in many situations] Sludge Bomb threatens the likes of Sylveon, Togekiss, Galarian Weezing and Roserade whilst giving a poison chance on staples like Flygon and Assualt Vest Reuniclus. Dark Pulse ensures that Toxicroak is not blanked by Ghost-types Doublade and Poltergeist ,along with viable neutral coverage easing prediction. [mention vacuum Wave as an option vs offense that isnt rly worth it since u lose a lot without DPulse coverage]

i think shadow ball is better than dark pulse on this set, u avoid random colbur on things like reun + hit mimikyu SE instead of neutral, so change that real fast

Toxicroak can break open large holes in balance orientated team compositions, however it lacks a well-established speed tier along side little viable priority to make up for it. As a result, Toxicroak needs speed control from paralysis spreaders such as Thunder Wave Cobalion and Togekiss. Roserade can also aid with Spikes support, and spread paralysis with Stun Spore. To patch up weaknesses, Toxicroak likes to be paired with Steelix or Stakataka with Togekiss or Noivern so that you can reliable switch into Flying- and Ground-type attacks . Assault Vest Reuniclus is also a good paring as it beats any variant of Nidoqueen to which checks Toxicroak very well, moreover being a great check to Necrozma,Celebi or Starmie that threaten or revenge kill Toxicroak. [Nice! This was a good one] Xurkitree can bait in foes that Toxicroak does well into such as specially defensive walls and Fairy-types, whilst liking a free switch-in from Volt Switch. [kinda says the same thing twice] Toxicroak's neiche on rain is arguably better when specially based as it can nail walls to rain such as Seismitoad and Gastrodon Suicune(Suicune cant do anything back, so the power difference isn't super important) whilst absorbing any Toxic attemps from them, allowing a better Swift Swim user that fits around bulky Water-types being removed.

ADD GOLISOPOD HERE for same reason as above; Knock is even more important for special set since it can't run Knock.
Also, mention Pokemon that can threaten Crobat, since this set is even more of a sitting duck. Maybe u can combine that with the Xurk section.

Toxicroak's niche on rain is arguably better when specially based as it can nail Special Toxicroak is also the best for rain teams, nailing walls to rain such as Gastrodon and Roserade whilst absorbing any Toxic from them, allowing a different option of Swift Swimmer for a different Swift Swim user that fits around bulky Water-types being removed.

Rock Tomb can be used over Knock Off to threaten the Flying-types that wall Toxicroak, lowering their Speed so that they can be 2HKOed, (AC) or to slow down switching in Pokemon to be switch-ins so they're dealt with easier. Stone Edge can reliably OHKO Crobat and Noivern, however it is less consistent and higher risk. but it's less consistent. Vacuum Wave can be ran as priority run against offensive teams on Nasty Plot Toxicroak to pick off weakened foes, however loosing Shadow Ball coverage is not advisable, nor does Toxicroak usually foes; however, Toxicroak usually doesn't have the space for it. **Faster Threats**: Raikou, Flygon, and Obstagoon can all threaten Toxicroak without Sucker Punch and force it out; they also have enough bulk to survive a +2 Sucker Punch unless they have taken chip damage.

**Bulky Ground-types**: Nidoqueen can wall both variants of Toxicroak, however Gastrodon can only be roadblocks to physical Toxicroak as they can all live any move from each respective set and while Gastrodon can only be a roadblock to physical Toxicroak; both also threaten an OHKO.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Galarian Weezing can live withstand boosted Gunk Shot and cripple Toxicroak with Will-O-Wisp. Talonflame's Flame Body can cripple it when switching into Drain Punch and force it out. Doublade can wall out Toxicroak without Knock Off if not boosted. Sucker Punch Toxicroak. However, (AC) these checks have to worry about Nasty Plot Toxicroak as it beats these specific mentions. Nasty Plot Toxicroak beats these walls.

[OVERVIEW]

Toxicroak safely switches into slow-paced walls such as Milotic and Suicune due to Dry Skin and its Toxic immunity, giving it ample setup opportunity. opportunities. Boosted Toxicroak can be an issue for balance teams, as its STAB moves minimize any switch-ins other than Crobat. Its typing allows it to naturally stave off Golispod, Roserade, and Sharpedo but, due to its frailty, it relies on entry hazard removal to do so. Toxicroak does not want to match up one-on-one against Steelix, Metagross, or any Psychic-type early due to its frailty and underwhelming power without Swords Dance or Nasty Plot boosts. Further, faster threats like Raikou and Noivern can overwhelm it easily. Sucker Punch is too weak to pick them off without a massive amount of chip damage.

[SET COMMENTS]

Toxicroak serves as a wallbreaker that sets up freely on Milotic and Suicune, or after forcing out Roserade and Fairy-types like Togekiss and Sylveon with Gunk Shot. Drain Punch allows Toxicroak to recover lost health from Life Orb, as well as nailing the vast majority of the common Steel-types in the tier. Sucker Punch helps justify it over fellow Fighting-types Cobalion and Heracross, picking off faster foes easily. It can also be used to hit Doublade, if your team has potent speed control, or if it your team struggles with removing Flying-types holding Heavy-Duty Boots.

Toxicroak's ability to threaten certain cores and prevent Milotic and Suicune from making any progress is a great asset; however, without Sucker Punch, it cannot match up well against faster teams. Teammates like Noivern and Xurkitree can help against threats like Celebi and Crobat it struggles against, and they can also bait in Pokemon Toxicroak does well against, like Sylveon and Roserade. Golisopod is especially important for Spikes, which guarantees the valuable KOs Toxicroak needs, as well as bringing Knock Off support to help teams break through Flying-types. On rain teams, though, Dry Skin gives it the longevity to better handle them, and it can check bulky Water-types that usually wall rain teams lacking Ludicolo.

[SET COMMENTS]

Toxicroak can run a special variant set to set up on Umbreon, Milotic, and Suicune more easily. As well as being a strong neutral STAB move, it limits switch-ins in conjunction with Sludge Bomb, which threatens the likes of Sylveon, Togekiss, Galarian Weezing, and Roserade and can poison staples like Diancie and Assault Vest Reuniclus. Shadow Ball ensures that Ghost-types Doublade and Poltergeist don't blank Toxicroak, along with hitting Mimikyu super effectively. Shadow Ball also circumvents specific Colbur Berry Pokemon such as Reuniclus, which can OHKO Toxicroak.

Special Toxicroak can break open large holes in balance teams; however, it lacks a strong Speed tier, or priority to make up for it. As a result, it needs speed control from paralysis spreaders such as Thunder Wave Cobalion and Togekiss. Stun Spore Roserade can also aid with Spikes support. Golisopod can give Knock Off support for removing Heavy-Duty Boots on Flying-types, as well as Spikes support. To patch up weaknesses, Steelix or Stakataka and Togekiss or Noivern give Toxicroak teams reliable switch-ins to Flying- and Ground-type attacks. Assault Vest Reuniclus is also a good paring, partner, as it beats any variant of Nidoqueen—which checks Toxicroak very well—besides being a great check to Necrozma, Celebi, and Starmie, which threaten or revenge kill Toxicroak. (I think this first sentence works best with just Umbreon, or perhaps find a different threat? The way it’s phrased makes it seem like it’s easier to set up on specially defensive walls like Milotic or Suicune, which is misleading — at least Umbreon has Foul Play, which actually does pressure Toxicroak not to set up Swords Dance on it)

great job Reece
my main recommendations are: to keep an active voice rather than passive;
try to vary up your usage of words like “however,” “threatens,” etc.;
and try to keep the subjects of your phrase as close as possible to each other (for instance, keeping all of your “paralysis spreaders” or “Spikes support” within the same phrase or close to it; it makes things things easier to read)
