Trap pass/toxic stall team. Needs help :P

Ok, so this is my latest team, and it needs A LOT of work right now. :P the idea is good, and ive tried it out a bit and it has the potential to be pretty good, but it needs a lot of work, probably a better lead, better ways to set up after trap passing, better synergy etc. ie. It needs to be changed, a lot. Since I started competitive battling Ive wanted to make a team based around this idea… essentially the strategies are trap pass setups, and toxic stalling. Baton pass is also used a little bit, however its not reliant on it, its not a baton pass team at all.

At a glance....

Flygon @ Leftovers
Timid 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 Spe
Toxic
Roost
Earthquake
Fire Blast

Ok, my current lead, though this is quite honestly because I had no idea how I should lead with this strategy :P Flygon just seemed like the best idea out of the team I had, I don’t have an established lead yet. The main point of flygon is A. his earthquake deals with steel and poison types that stop toxic stalling from working, and B. His typing covers the weaknesses presented from having two water types in a team. So Flygon deals with poison and steel types with earthquake, and any other threats by toxic stalling

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Careful 252 HP 128 SpD 128 Spe
Baton Pass
Mean look
Wish
Toxic

The bread and butter of this team, Umbreons main purpose is trap passing. The main set up of the team is to have umbreon trap pass and then set up on the trapped pokemon however seems best, however I need to work on exactly what I do to set up on the opponent… suggestions would be great. Anyways, in addition to trap passing umbreon also provides wish support and can toxic stall, making him able to defend himself and not useless when trap passing wont work.

Suicune_by_Xous54.png

Suicune @ Leftovers
Timid 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Subsitute
Calm mind
Surf
Ice Beam

Bulky water type, suicune makes a great tank. Calm mind + substitute allows suicune to stall and do damage with stab surf. Also can deal with dragon types with ice beam.

images

Breloom @ Toxic orb
Impish 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Subsitute
Leech Seed
Focus Punch
Spore

Sub seed breloom is lethal. Toxic orb + leech seed allows breloom to regenerate ridiculous amounts of health, while spore and substitute allows breloom to stall as long as needed, and use focus punch without interruption, great health recovery + rarely being hit + heavy damage with focus punch = amazing. lol

images

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Bold 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 SpD
Wish
Protect
Surf
Toxic

The third and final toxic stall pokemon. In addition to toxic stalling vaporeon can switch into water attacks to disrupt rain dance teams, and provides wish support and has an excellent stab surf. However im considering changing him to a baton pass strategy to pass aqua ring, not sure what the best idea is though :/

images

Scizor @ Leftovers
Adamant 248 HP / 88 Atk / 172 Spe
Baton Pass
Sword dance
Roost
Bullet Punch

And finally scizor, scizor is a great revenge killer, doing ruthless damage with priority technician Bullet punch. Also, serves to baton pass Sword dance to boost other team members attacks.

So….. that’s it. It needs a lot of work, I know. Im hoping some of the more experienced battlers can give me advice and help me set it up better. Mainly I need to work on exactly how to set up on the opponent after a trap pass… anyway, anyone who can help out id appreciate it, as this needs a lot of work. Thanks :toast:

I would suggest switching breloom's moves to Swords Dance, Facade , Seed Bomb, and Spore so that Scizor can run choice band w/ birck break, u turn, pursuit, and bullet punch so that you have a viable revenge killer. DO you really need 3 toxicers? You could isolate into one toxic spiker. Suicune and Vaporeon are similar enough and running umbreon making vaporeon irrelevant. Try switching vaporeon to tentacruel or some other toxic spiker (try Roserade if you want to remove spore from breloom and use focus punch + sub). That way, Flygon can use stealth rock and Umbreon can add an attack so it isn't walled by taunt. If you do decide to ruin entry hazards, think about switching Scizor to a revenge killer Gengar so that you can block rapid spin.

ok, i understand most of this, but why would brelooms moves need to be switched in order for scizor to change his move set?? the scizor thing is prolly a good idea however, im never really gonna baton pass him, so i think ill switch that, and ill cut down the amount of toxic users i have as well, probably throwing in toxic spikes. and im not planning on abusing entry hazards with this team, the purpose is to trap them instead of forcing switches.
any advice on how i should follow up my trap passes?

although the idea seems good, you should drop breloom. Many people think of it as a scabby thing to use, and it gets destroyed by anything faster than it with a powerful neutral move. Personally I use a Dnite/reversal luke combo, which has won me so many games. Dnite to lure outrages from flygon, then I can get 2 SDs and destroy with luke

dnite? idk maybe, breloom kinda destroys whenver i use it, im yet to have a problem with it :P
i do need a zapados counter though, i just recognised that after one destroyed me :P
Brelooms really one of the last guys i wanna drop though :P aside from umbreon

Also posting this... i switched flygon out for lead meta with earthquake.
