Trapping - The Old Fashioned Way

I've tried a few teams built around the Sub/DD Dragonite set I use, and this is the most original one I've cme up with so far. The idea is for the others to clear the way for Dragonite to set up & sweep (though often, Dragonite wasn't even needed)

What sets this team apart from my other efforts is the approach it has to trapping. I decided to try a trapper nobody would predict, using the old Mean Look method. After a while, I created a Mew set of my own design, specifically tailored to eliminate most of the pokemon that would give Dragonite a hard time.
You guys know the drill - Looking for suggestions, feedback, yadda yadda yadda.

The Team:

Terrakion@Focus Sash
Jolly
Justified
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 Def
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge

My favourite Terrakion set will always be Sub/SD, but for this team, I thought I'd try out the ol' Lead Terrakion set. The rumours were true - He really does screw up most common Leads!
Taunt & Stealth Rock cripple most opposing Lead strategies, while Focus Sash ensures mine works. CC & Stone Edge for great STAB coverage.

Mew@Life Orb
Modest
Synchronise
IVs: 0 Atk
252 SAtk, 196 Spd, 62 Def
- Block
- Flamethrower
- Giga Drain
- Rock Polish

My own Mew-tility set! The idea is to send this out against unsuspecting Steels, or any other checks/counters to Dragonite, trap them with Block, and pummel them with the appropriate coverage move. With a Modest nature & Life Orb boosting Mew's SAtk as high as possible, Flamethrower comfortably 1 or 2KO's most common Steels, including the troublesome Skarmory, while Giga Drain comfortably 2KOs offensive Tyranitar, bulky Waters, and Mamoswine. (Which is a 1KO with Rocks up)
The Speed EVs outrun Jolly Mamoswine & anything slower, as well as all Scarfers after a Rock Polish (Most useful against Jirachi or Keldeo). The rest go into Def because he has to switch in against Physical attacks far more often than Special ones.

Gothitelle@Choice Specs
Modest
Shadow Tag
IVs: 2 Atk, 30 Def
252 HP, 252 SAtk, 6 SDef
- Trick
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Gothitelle's primary function is achieved in the Team Preview. When the opponent sees him, they never suspect that Mew is my main trapper!
However, his abilities as a backup trapper haven't gone unnoticed. Trick allows him to sacrifice the power of his Choice Specs to cripple most threatening sweepers or walls, Psyshock is for STAB and special walls, while Thunderbolt & HP Ice provide insurance against Skarmory & certain Dragons.
It's unfortunate that Mew shares his exact typing, but the Dark weakness is sufficiently covered, and the only non-Psychic complete trapper is Dugtrio, who can't affect Skarmory outside of Gravity...

Scizor@Expert Belt
Brave
Technician
IVs: 0 Spd
252 HP, 252 Atk, 6 Def
- U-Turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit

This Scizor seems fairly standard at first glance. Bullet Punch because Scizor would be lost without it, Pursuit for limited trapping capabilities, and Superpower to improve coverage. The Expert Belt helps bluff a Choice Band set.
All fairly standard, but Scizor is on my team mainly to allow Dragonite or something else to gain a free switch-in as U-Turn hits last, which is why his Speed is as low as it can possibly be.

Garchomp@Choice Scarf
Jolly
Rough Skin
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 Def
- Outrage
- Dual Chop
- Earthquake
- Aqua Tail

While building this team, I noticed it had a serious weakness to ParaFlinch Jirachi, and a few other Scarfers, so I enlisted the help of this gal!
ScarfChomp checks many fast threats, including Jirachi, Salamence, Thundurus-T, Landorus-I, and many others! Outrage is her strongest attack, while Earthquake is highly useful STAB, taking care of Steels, (notably Jirachi), while Aqua Tail is mainly there for Gliscor, Landorus & Balloon Heatran. Dual Chop is here over Dragon Claw for the added bonus of breaking Subs, Sashes & Sturdy.

Dragonite@Leftovers
Careful
Multiscale
252 HP, 80 Def, 18 SDef, 160 Spd
- Substitute
- Roost
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw

The star of the team. Once Mew & the others have cleared a path for her by getting rid of steels, PHazers & the like, Dragula here will set up a Substitute, Dragon Dance as much as she can, and butcher the opponent's team!
The EV spread is taken from the set posted byanother user in the days of BW1, and even now it rarely lets me down! She remains incredibly bulky without sacrificing too much speed, outrunning most non-Scarfed threats after only 1 Dragon Dance.

So, yeah - Post your feedback regarding how I can help this team better serve its purpose.
Also, I don't own any of the pretty pictures, but I hope you enjoyed them. :)

Nice team :D
Im new to competetive battling so my rate obviously wont of of the same standard as others.Anyway skarmory can just phaze out mew with whirlwind,so block wont be useful against it.Also all your evs should be divisible by 4...I personally prefer dragonclaw over dual chop as dual chop doesnt have perfect accuracy and garchomp's rough skin ability + sr can break most sashes anyway

Hi there!

Pretty cool team, I especially like the use of Gothitelle to trap and kill the troublesome Pokemon that can threaten this team, so props to you on that. However, I find some flaws in this team, and my rate will help iron out those flaws while also helping this team reach it's full potential. Now, with all of that out of the way, let's get onto my detailed rate, now shall we? First up, I would like to recommend running Psychic on your Gothitelle over your current choice of Psyshock. With Psychic, Gothitelle is able to gut many physical walls very hard, and Pokemon like Blissey, who wall this set, can be crippled with Trick. Staying on Gothitelle, I would run a Timid Nature over your current choice of a Modest Nature. With a Timid Nature, Gothitelle is able to outspeed and cripple or KO Specially Defensive Jirachi, Adamant Breloom and Timid Magnezone. Moving on with your team, I would like to suggest running an Iron Plate SD set on your Scizor over your current one. With this set, Scizor easily can bluff a Choice Band set, due to the amount of damage that an Iron Plate STAB Bullet Punch does, and surprising foes when they switch in something to wall your Bullet Punch, such as Ferrothorn. Finally, I would like to recommend running a spread of 252 HP / 72 Def / 60 SpD / 124 Spe with a Jolly Nature over your current EV spread and nature on Dragonite. With the aftermentioned EV spread, Dragonite is able to take on multiple hits, including Specially Defensive Jirachi's Iron Head, meanwhile the Speed EV's along with a Jolly Nature outspeed Alakazam, a potentially threatening Pokemon, at +1. Well, that's all I have to say for now. I hope my advice helped. Have fun and good luck in your future endeavours!
