Trends you wish they would change

Most of the Pokemon games follow a pretty standard format since the first games. A lot of these are great and they add a sense of familiarity even if you haven't played in years.

But six generations of games in some are getting a little tired. For me I would really like to see a main series game where you aren't fighting some evil team with a world domination goal. It's getting harder to up the stakes in terms of story since they've gone from basic crime organization to changing the climate/earth, to creating a new world entirely. I think the games would really benefit from a smaller story more centered on your journey in becoming a great trainer and less on being a "chosen one" or whatever.

Also I'd really enjoy a new set of starter types. FWG is great at showing type advantage, but you can illustrate that with some different types. Also, there are so many pokemon of every type now it seems less necessary to give out an elemental (as opposed to the common Normal, Bug and Flying types that made up so much of the early parts of Gen I) since they can place more weak fire, water or grass pokemon early on.

What other changes do you think might add some freshness to the games?

I wish the trend of Flareon's movepool being dog shit on a sidewalk would end.

But it has Flare Blitz that makes it god!

(Seriously, if you want you to see a dog turd check out Dedenne. Everything about it screams don't bother breeding me)

Personally, I would to see an 'older' version of pokemon. I'm tired of it being rated 4 plus.

This looks like a wishlist thread which is against the rules of Orange Islands.
