SS OU Trick Room Hyper Offensive

Hello everybody,

Since this is my first post I will take the opportunity to introduce myself: I'm Ñacata, long time pokemon player but new to the forum. I had left OU for a long time and decided to give it a try with this gen. I'm looking forward to meet new people and stop being such a no0b !

Anyways, let's get into the team.

The team

Natikila (Hatterene) (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 200 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 52 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Misty Explosion
- Trick Room
- Mystical Fire
- Psychic

So I wanted to make a team around Crawdaunt cause I love that boy. After many trash builds, I decided to try TR. At first I used Bronzong as my lead to set the rocks and explode, but it didn't work very smoothly and I had a serious Hazzard control problem. Hatterene came after to solve that problem. I like her because in this kind of team one cannot lose momentum and she is a great way to set the pace of the match. Also, she has burned many unsuspecting ferros.

The Evs for speed is to outspeed melmetal if my enemy leads with him.

Plucutu (Crawdaunt) @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Knock Off
- Crabhammer
- Aqua Jet
- Close Combat

I love him. Jesus, this lobster hits haaaaard. I think that I have never used CC though. Do you have any suggestion to change it for a more useful move ?

Hermes Trismegisto (Slowking-Galar) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Fire Blast / Sludge Bomb
- Slack Off
- Psychic

Another TR setter. I use him to check Tapu-Fini and special attackers, but he suffers from a very bad form of 4th slot syndrome... Fire Blast is for ferro and corvi that are really annoying.

El Aplastador (Conkeldurr) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch

He smashes and cleans late game all the weakened foes that Crawdaunt didn't finish. He is great at it by virtue of his great coverage.

Pipipi (Porygon2) @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick Room
- Recover
- Tri Attack
- Teleport

Porygon has good synergy with Slowking and they manage to set TR multiple times. The problem with him is that he is incredibly passive and his only purpose is to teleport his mates safely.

Britney (Cursola) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Perish Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Shadow Ball
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Burning Jealousy
He is the most controversial member of the team. He is like a toxic ex that you cannot help but go back to. Hits hard but sometimes not hard enough. Lacks maneuverability. Puts me between a rock and a hard place whenever the enemy has a Blissey. Yet, I cannot find a decent replacement. I need him to kill the tapus, to hit physical walls, to surprise with Ice Beam. I tried Marowak-Alola, Chandelure, Stakataka, the rock...

Thoughts

I like this team and for the first time in a loooong time I have managed to get into the mid 1500s. I feel I can improve it and I would love to hear your advice.

If I had to describe the core of the team it would be with the word momentum. If I manage to maintain the offensive pressure and correctly predict the enemy this team is amazing. If the opponent has a good switch game then I'm screwed.

I particularly hate two mons : Melmetal and Bulu. When I see a Melmetal it is basically a GG, a hug, and a goodbye. On the other hand, this team has a great match-up against most offensive teams and specially rain offense, so that's a good point.

That's all for today. Thank you for the time you took to read this and I'm eager to test you suggestions.

Sincerely,

Ñacata

Hey there,
Trick Room can be very fun rn, its definitely better than it ever has been in SS OU, its still pretty match up fishy though, dont get me wrong.

:ss/marowak-alola: + :ss/melmetal:

I think the best form of Trick Room at the moment is 3 Trick Room setters and 3 Trick Room abusers, Melmetal and Alolan Marowak being two of them, since theyre just way too good for Trick Room to not use. So to begin Id recommend replacing Conkeldur and Corsola with those two. Theyre incredibly strong and will almost always grab a kill or two when in Trick Room since both of them are just so difficult to switch into.
Melmetal @ Life Orb
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 232 HP / 252 Atk / 24 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Double Iron Bash
- Superpower
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch

Marowak-Alola (M) @ Thick Club
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Poltergeist
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake / Shadow Bone

:ss/cresselia:

Also over Galarian Slowking i very much recommend running Cresselia since its combination of Magic Coat and unbelievable Bulk allows it to set up Trick Room without fail. I also recommend Rocky Helmet here since it can help vs Urshifu-R since it usually pressures Trick Room teams a lot.
Cresselia (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 232 HP / 184 Def / 92 SpA
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Moonblast
- Magic Coat
- Lunar Dance

:ss/crawdaunt:

Also since it is Trick Room I very much do not recommend Choice Banded Crawdaunt, youll have to be a lot more prediction reliant and a Swords Dance Life Orb set can also break a lot easier.
Crawdaunt @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Crabhammer
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet

I also recommend running Healing Wish on your Cresselia since it can allow one of your abusers another chance at ravaging the opposing team and can come in handy in a lot of situations. I also recommend running Magic Coat on your Porygon2 since it can prevent any attempts to Set up hazards and or Taunt your Porygon2 to prevent Trick ROom from going up.
Hatterene (F) @ Focus Sash
