Triffid terror (a uu rmt by your best friends)

"The day of the the Triffids"! (Changes in Bold)
UU RMT featuring: Venusaur. And the power of fire! (Go awesome lead) Gengar in indigo
Team co-made by Gengarx777 and Iluvtogekiss.
The Day of the Triffids was a popular book written by the British writer John Wyndham. The book's basic storyline focuses on the arrival on man's radar of large, walking, carnivorous plants known as Triffids.
A Triffid is capable of killing a man instantly with just one powerful lash of its poisonous stinger. They can also walk using "roots" and can move about as fast as an average man.

These fictional plants seem perfect to represent what this team is built to incorporate and aid in its efforts to sweep.
That is the monster known as Swords Dance Venusaur.

On to the team:
In the lead position we have a rather unconvential choice that is very succesful with a lot of the most common leads in today's UU metagame.
Presenting:
torkoal.png

Torkoal @ Lum Berry aka Flirtle
Trait : White smoke
Evs: 252HP/252Spatk/6Def
Modest Nature (+Spatk,-Atk)
-Flamethrower/Lava plume/Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-Rapid Spin
-Stealth Rock

Lead Torkoal makes a fantastic way to lead the team off, he lays rocks down for starters, pretty much every UU lead does, but how many also spin em away?
This guy is great for taking on those annoying sleep powder Roserades, those bothersome stealth rocking Registeels, he even does well against the stupidly bulkey Uxies that one often sees. After they'r done for he simpley spins their hazards away.
A typical lead, Roserade will put you to sleep, you wake up thanks to lum and Always OHKO thanks to the Evs and Nature, if hes sashed, no problem he might get up a few layers of t.s/ spikes before you wake up and kill him off with rapid spin, also killing his spikes.
Those evs and the nature grab you a guaranteed 2HKO on registeel and a decent 36ish percent on your average Uxie,
He also counters all those lead Houndooms and arcanines. The only lead I have switched out of yet was a camerupt, an obviously bad matchup for old Torkoal.
Torkoal often outlasts his anti lead purpose and can be found loitering in the mid game thanks to his excellant sturdiness, once here he serves as a great way to hinder physical sweepers such as swellow and the odd toxicroak, proof that this smokin' tortoise is far more than your average lead.

Second up is a bulkey water, usefull for taking stab surfs, ice beams etc. Just another great defensive pokemon.
Lo Milotic was here but I ended up just using it to counter gatr and fires and often it just wasnt bulkey enough so It has been replaced by:
blastoise.png

Blastoise @ Leftovers aka Shellshock
Trait : Torrent
Evs: 252 Hp/252 Def/6 Sdef
Bold Nature (+Spatk,-Atk)
-Surf
-Ice Beam/HP grass
-Rapid spin
-Roar/Toxic

I send Blastoise in to deal with a myriad of different threats throughout the UU metagame, Gatr, DD altaria, fire types...
From there he can roar to prevent stuff setting up and rack up s.r damage on stuff, (really helpful for Triffidsaur) or just spin away hazards on my side of the field. Oh and hes my second spinner which is great news for The crucially important Moltres.

Swooping out of the mouth of a volcanoe and down to defend it's good friends Blastoise and Triffidsaur comes the third Pokemon of the RMT:
moltres.png

Moltres @ Leftovers aka Pheonix
Trait : Pressure
Evs: 248HP/148Def/112Spd
Bold Nature (+Def,-Atk)
-Flamethrower
-Roost
-Will 'o' Wisp
-U turn/ Air Slash/ Hidden Power [ice/rock]

Moltres is so strong!
This guy is my answer to so many threats I cant count them on both hands!
To name a few that I consider very important for Triffidsaur's survival and success there are:
Swellow (at a pinch),
Honchkrow,
Ambipom,
Yanmega,
random fire types,
Roserade,
Sceptile,
Scyther,
Toxicroak,
Weezing.
There are more.
God I love this guy. If you hadnt realised, he can take on Blastoise counters (barring rotom) well too.
Apart from being such a hard to beat son of a bitch he also hits fairly hard off the bat and cripples shit left right and centre with WoW.
The forth move is debatable.
I like U turn atm because I dislike switching Venusaur/Blastoise into stuff like feraligatr or azu because if they get a sub/ddance up then they hurt the shit out of me, Id rather just not predict and U turn out of whatever switch Moltres forces and maintain momentum on my side.
I see how Air slash would let me counter Blaziken EVEN MORE but moltres handles him fine even with only flamethrower. Obviously air slashing those water sweepers on the switch is nice but Id rather u turn out because that way if I hit a regirock I can just cleanly go to Triffidsaur
Those hidden powers are very specific: Other Moltres or Altaria? Both are bitches But which do I hate the most? Somtimes I really don't know since after Blastoise goes down, (somtimes it actually does die, surprising, I know) I have no way of dealing with them. I would really appreciate some advice here.

This used to be standard spintop but with Blastoise doing the spinning we decided to go with a more offensive build of Hitmontop After that so playtesting revealed that Hairymama was perfect for this role
Presenting:
Hariyama.png

Hariyama @ Leftovers aka Hairymama
Trait : Guts but don't tell anyone
Evs 80hp/172atk/252Sdef
Adamant nature (+atk, -Spack)
-ice punch
-cross chop ( i hate this move, but Close combat and bb or a no go here)
-Rest
-Sleep talk

A good rock resist and stall breaker, this baby gladly absorbs any status and helps with our minor lack in ice attacks. Guts cross chop off 172 and adamant hits HARD, and brings even resisters to their knees. he can take a whole lot of abuse and just keep coming, while keeping the pressure on with his immensely powerful attacks while hes asleep. the fact that he's can kinda defensive tricks many people into mispredicting him as having thickfat, until its too late and they're being crushed by cross chops. All in all, a reliable pokemon with a lot to offer any team, especially this one.

Next up is another Bulkey as hell pokemon how fills his niche surprisingly checking special threats as well as the odd Registeel/Kangaskhan
steelix.png

Steelix @ leftovers aka Metal Snake
Trait : Sturdy
IVs: 0 spd
Evs: 252HP/200Sdef/52 Atk
Sassy Nature (+Sdef,-spd)
-Earthquake
-Gyro ball
-Stealth rock
-Explosion

I bring this in on the afforementioned two to totally wall their asses off, he is also another sort of check against mismagius/ Espeon with his buttload of Spdef and typing, he can also Gyro ball them both for a shitload.
Serves to conter more of the same things that Moltres does if I somehow My spinners fail to do their job properly, also importantly he gives me a second way of setting up stealth rocks as they help Triffidsaur eliminate its counters alot and if they get spun away and torkoal does die (he is a lead after all) then It is a lot harder to wear that Specs yanmega or Moltres down.

FINALLY the celebrity of the team:
Presenting:
day_of_triffids_1962.jpg

Venu(triffid)saur @ Black Sludge
Trait : Overgrow
Evs: 252Atk/252Spd/6HP
Jolly Nature (+Spd,-Satk)
-Swords Dance
-Earthquake
-Seed Bomb
-Sleep Powder

This thing is lethal, just like it's namesake.
Venusaur, when maxed out is surprisingly fast, like a Triffid.
especially when all the speedy sweepers of UU have been raped my Moltres.
You'l laugh when it swords dances, ten seconds later you'r cowering on the floor as it launches powerfull barrages of stinging seeds at you or gazing in disbelief as it lulls your pokemon to sleep.
Venusaurs, Like triffids are scarily fast and hit like a ton of bricks.
The worst thing is, you only really see then as a threat when you realise its about to sweep your team, or overrun your country.

If you look at the team now you can see how it is roughley constructed to help venusaur sweep a bit easier. However this is by no means the Priority of the team. Venusaur is also another helper, it provides an invaluble electric resist and a decent way to take down Lanturn. Even if Venusaur dies to a sleep powder miss or somthing, the team is far from neutered as it functions well just as a competant bunch of resistances and good mix of defense and bulkey offense. As always, its a pleasure to work with the talented Iluvtogekiss and i believe we've produced a fine team.

Okay so that has been our latest UU team, Day of the Triffids.
Hope you enjoyed and please rate and help.

Hey there, glad to see another UU player in this area. :)

Torkoal is quite an interesting lead. I assume you want to go with consistency than power which is why you chose Flamethrower over Fire Blast.

You should consider running Hidden Power Grass on Blastoise. Otherwise other bulky-esque Water-types like Milotic, Quagsire from walling you.

On Steelix, you might wanna use a Relaxed or Sassy nature, because it lowers Steelix's speed, something essential for Gyro Ball.

Good luck. ^^

sorry for not rating this earlier Gengar, got lost in reading a book :P

I would say Lava Plume > Flamethrower. The 30% chance of status is worth it, especially when trying to create and easier set up scenario for Venasaur.

On the same tone as Terry's post, make sure Steelix has 0 Speed IVs, to further boost Steelix's Gyro Ball.

I honestly dont have much to say about this team. It's just solid.
