SS OU Triple steel double grass

Dear readers,
Today I wanted to build a team revolving around magnezone. I have'nt seen too much players using it and since the ban on magearna I really think it has some potential in the tier. I started my building process with magnezone and rillaboom as the core. After seeing a lot of grass-spam on ladder I finally decided to join the wave, and without further or do I added scarf kart. Scarf kart and banded Rillaboom have great offensive synergy and are just so annoying to play. Next up is my favorite mon in the team, namely latios. Using the eject pack in combination with magnezone is awesome. The idea is that you draco into their steel type and get a free swith into magnezone (for steels except heatran). Next mon on the list is the spinner: Excadrill. I like exca because of it's versatility and the common notion that it is a very feeble mon. People just love to EQ this mon and that's the reason it's on here. Just to be able to bait out an eq so that I can switch into either lati or one of the grass types. Last but not least is utility clefable for glue. Clef finishes up my dragon, steel and fairy core and is a good sponge. Let's start off with the boom:

Rillaboom is a very popular mon nowadays since cinderace has been banned. It checks itself and has very strong (priority) Stab. I chose for the choice banded set because firstly it's been a while since i've used it (miracle seed fan) and secondly because it hits like an allround truck. Rillaboom has a lot of roles in this team, namely: terrain setter, breaker and knock off. Aside from that it greatly benefits from magnezone getting rid of steel types, as the only real counters to this mon are steel types (and flame body users, but more on that later).

Rillaboom @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 196 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Wood Hammer
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Next up is the OG himself, magnezone. I just took the set of the forums, but I have'nt had any problems with it. Just don't expect it to be as strong as a choice specs set. The bulk is there to boost body press, so you will be hitting a bit less with thunderbolt. Try to use this mon only for trapping and always try to preserve the balloon! It has awesome synergy with Rillaboom and Latios (shoutout to the good cores thread).

Magnezone @ Air Balloon
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 240 Def / 116 SpA / 152 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute

Next up is the surprise of the team. Eject pack latios let's you pivot into a mon after using draco. Watch out for mystical fire users though!! They can really mess up this strat. Stab moves for basic coverage and earthquake for heatran chip (I know it does'nt work with terrain but who cares). This set catches a lot of players off guard. Especially since everybody is running specs nowadays. Latios' role is more a gimmick support/coverage role. Identify which mons it necessarily has to take out and then throw it out. Also try to hide the EQ for a good moment.

Latios (M) @ Eject Pack
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psychic
- Earthquake
- Roost

Clef is the most boring mon on the team and I hate that I'm forced to use it. But it's simply the best option i've got. Being a heavy clef abuser since gen VI, I just feel that it's never not going to have a place in the meta. Previous gen people ran spdef and now people run def. I don't get it (I do) but it works and that's awesome. Pretty much self explanatory: get up rocks, knock mons off and check half of OU.

Clefable @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off

Drill is here to bait in those ground types. This gives magnezone some more room. High horsepower for the grassy terrain combination and rock slide for the flame body users (moltres + volcarona). Mixed atk and spdef ev's because i found it just was'nt hitting hard enough. So I opted for a hybrid. Spinning is the main role of exca. Don't be afraid to throw excadrill out early game, just make sure they don't have volcarona or moltres because this is your only answer!

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 144 Atk / 112 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Horsepower
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

Next up in the last offensive slot is kartana. Hits very hard and has very good speed control. Never stay in on a potential knock off because that loses games with this team. Keep the scarf in tact so you can potentially snowball the opposing team. Standard set.

Kartana @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Smart Strike
- Sacred Sword
- Knock Off

This team obviously has a poor time with fire types but I really like the way it works. Have been having some succes on the ladder and am anxious as to what you guys have to say. Love making these small and quick RMT's. And I love the feedback I sometimes get on them!!
