True Detective, anyone?

I got dragged into watching this last week over spring break. My facebook and twitter feeds were so packed with statuses for the past few months anyway, so I figure I was long overdue.

Anyone else into this show? The finale just aired tonight (and broke HBOGO for like 4 hours...) and I can honestly say TD is one of the best shows I've seen in a while. Spoilers hidden for people who haven't seen it yet

I thought the chase scene in the ruins at the climax was pretty suspenseful, and I didn't think the ending was a cop out at all. I actually thought it was kind of pleasant that they weren't able to really get the case all the way up to Tuttle. I thought that the show was really a study on Rust anyway, but I could be mistaken :x

And Rust's ending monologue ;_; I know his character is supposed to be somewhat of an absurdist but even so, I thought some of his lines were a bit over-the-top at some points. But that last scene really nailed it, imo

Just a little bit nervous that they'll fall flat in season 2, but it'll be refreshing to have an entirely new cast.

Also, can someone please tell me if rural Louisiana is really like that? As a New Yorker currently living in Houston, I don't feel out of my element at all, but I can't even imagine living somewhere like that :x

I'm downloading the finale right now. This is the best show I've watched since GoT. Pretty fucking awesome. Acting is top-notch, story is good and it kept it that way throughout the entire season, without unnecessary plot-twists to ruin the perfect pacing. And the dialogue is god-tier, especially Rust's.

I've watched two episodes so far, first episode was great but nothing really happened episode two, put me off it a bit, should I keep watching it?

yea, finish it, it's great

I completely understand the criticism levied at the finale but...it worked for me

the show creators, from day 1, said that we wouldn't get all the information and there wouldn't be surprise twists...it was just a story to tell from episode 1 to the end, and they successfully delivered that

rust's breakdown at the end and subsequent "looks like the light is winning" was a perfect culmination in on going though often stalled character development...and i loved it

go this show, if there is a season 2, i hope it is as good

I think this show tricked people into thinking it was better than it actually was and if it weren't for the 2nd season we'd all forget about in a few months. Frankly the people creating this show are fucking geniuses and it's too bad they don't channel that genius into making some "true" quality tv programming. Thank you I'll be here all week.

I just watched the finale. I'm glad there were no shitty plot twists, story and plot ended perfectly. Covered everything. Great ending.

Hype for season 2, but I don't know how the show would do without Matthew McCaunoghy

McCaunaghy

McCau- meh, whatever.

He did he role way too good, and I think it's a part of why I liked the show a lot.
