[SET COMMENTS]
Turtonator finds a niche on hyper offense teams that may struggle with certain pokemon like Ninetales and Charizard due to the defensive typing that allows it to resist their main STAB and set up on them; however, its low speed means it needs either Sticky Web support or two Shell Smashes to sweep successfully. Shell Smash allows it to set up quickly, and White Herb is used to reset the stat drops from Shell Smash so it can take hits better. It should set up on Pokemon like Rotom-Mow, Charizard, and Ninetales, although it must be wary of Toxic from the former two. Dragon Pulse is run along with Draco Meteor to have a STAB that won't drop Turtonator's Special Attack stat, which allows it to save Draco Meteor for an important KO later on. Stone Edge allows Turtonator to take advantage of the attack boost from Shell Smash, and allows Turtonator to easily take out Ninetales and Charizard without risking a drop from Draco Meteor before they can cripple Turtonator with Toxic. If running Stone Edge, Naive should be run over Timid, and an EV spread of 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe should be run instead. Lum Berry can be ran to prevent status effects from crippling it so it can set up easier. However, this is situational, and White Herb helps ease set up against far more targets. Turtonator can use a Rapid Spin set, with Rapid Spin and Will-O-Wisp over Shell Smash and Dragon Pulse with a specially defensive EV spread and Heavy-Duty Boots over White Herb, but it faces competition with other removers and is better offensively.
Turtonator beats Fire-types such as Ninetales, Salazzle, and Charizard so hyper offense teams that struggle with them will appreciate having Turtonator. Vanilluxe appreciates Turtonator more than most, since Turtonator can deal with Ninetales blocking Aurora Veil. In exchange, Vanilluxe can ease Turtonator's set up with Aurora Veil, and can deal with Ground-types, like Rhydon, Gastrodon, and Claydol while also chipping Snorlax for Turtonator. Turtonator's speed is impressive after a Shell Smash, but isn't enough to outspeed any scarfer, so Sticky Web support from Galvantula or Vikavolt is appreciated. Turtonator appreciates partners that can take out resists to Fire Blast, and can shrug off Draco Meteor, such as Vaporeon and Snorlax, so pokemon like Drednaw, Choice Band Mudsdale, or Indeedee with Trick or Psyshock can rid of those pokemon, and pave the way for a Turtonator sweep. Partners such as Silvally-Fairy, Duraludon, and Frosmoth that can threaten out opposing Dragon-types before Turtonator attempts to sweep can be good partners. Linoone fits on the type of teams that Turtonator would go on too, and can threaten out Pokemon like Snorlax that would attempt to wall Turtonator. In exchange, Turtonator can soften up the opposing team to allow Linoone to sweep.
