After one Dragon Dance, Tyranitar outspeeds Gengar and Tapu Lele, and after two, it outpaces Choice Scarf users such as Galarian Darmanitan and Excadrill. Rock Slide provides coverage against Ground-resistant Pokemon like Celesteela and Whimsicott, while Earthquake does the same for Rock-resistant Pokemon like Bisharp and Nidoking. Substitute blocks status moves like Leech Seed and Yawn, allowing it to consecutively set up Dragon Dances. Grimmsnarl checks Dragon- and Fighting-types like Kommo-o and Heracross, provides dual screens, and has Thunder Wave to cripple fast threats like Galarian Zapdos and Cinderace.
