[SET COMMENTS]

Choice Band Tyranitar is a strong physical attacker and trapper with extremely spammable STAB attacks in Crunch and Stone Edge. Pursuit threatens not only Ghost-Types and Psychic-Types, but also many neutral pokemon due to Tyranitars 134 Base Attack being boosted by Choice Band. With its 4th move Earthquake it can kill notable targets such as Mega Mawile, Magearna and Tapu Koko. An option over Earthquake is Fire Punch which offers OHKOs on Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn while preserving a move to hit Mega Mawile, and Magearna, albeit being weaker. The Speed investment is to get the jump on slower threats such as many Magearnas and Mega Mawile and the bulk is designed to strengthen Tyranitars Volcarona and Tapu Lele matchup, specifically avoiding the OHKO from a Choice Specs Tapu Lele's Moonblast.

Tyranitar has incredible offensive synergy with Charizard-Mega-Y due to the fact that Tyranitar can target down the few pokemon that threaten out Charizard-Mega-Y which includes Blissey, Latias-Mega, and Toxapex, and can even trap a majority of them. Tyranitar also partners well with many Psychic-Types and Ghost-Types such as Mega Latias or Tapu Lele due to resisting Ghost and Dark attacks which they are weak to and in return they resist Fighting for Tyranitar. Tapu Fini is another great partner to Tyranitar because it allows Tyranitar to switch into Scalds from targets like Slowbro and Toxapex, making those matchups very safe for Tyranitar to take advantage of. Finally Tyranitar pairs well with Sand Rush Excadrill due to it setting up Sand for it to use and also chipping down Excadrills threats, notably trapping Slowbro, which Excadrill cant threaten, and many Flying-Types that Excadrill cannot touch such as Moltres, Zapdos, and Corviknight. Mega Medicham benefits greatly from Tyranitars Pursuit support due to Medichams STAB combination naturally bringing Psychic-Types in, which Tyranitar can trap and pick off easily.

Other Options
=============

Running Stealth Rocks on Tyranitar in the fourth slot can be viable but losing out on the Mega Mawile matchup combined with the difficulty Tyranitar has coming in on the majority of the National Dex meta makes it extremely unrewarding. Ice Punch can also be used in the fourth slot to get surprise kills on Garchomp and Gliscor as well.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Super-Effective Coverage**: Mega Latias, Mega Charizard Y, and Gengar would all seem to lose outright to Tyranitar, but they all get access to Fighting-Type coverage moves to take massive chunks out of any Tyranitars that come in their way.

**Water-Types**: All Water-Type Pokemon can threaten Tyranitar out and prevent Tyranitars from switching in on them. Scald burns from Pokemon such as Slowbro and Toxapex cripple Tyranitar to a degree that makes it unusable, and strong Water-Type hits from the likes of Choice Specs Greninja and Mega Swampert make it impossible for Tyranitar to do anything due to their immense power.

**Steel-Types**: Many Steel-Types have the opportunity to switch in on, and get opportunities off of Tyranitar by resisting Stone Edges and generally taking little damage due to massive natural bulk. Due to Tyranitar running Earthquake commonly and the Steel-Types that don't have a weakness to Ground all being neutral to its STABs, many Steel-Types can be put in a tricky spot if the Tyranitar user guesses correctly.

Tyranitar serves as a check to Tapu Lele, Victini, Gengar, and with its 4th move Earthquake, it can kill Mawile-Mega, Magearna, and Tapu Koko. Tyranitars immense bulk lets it switch in on many of the previously mentioned Pokemon and get great opportunities to throw out a massive hit to dent any pokemon on the opposing team or even trap to get crucial kills. Filler. I would keep the bit about Earthquake, but mrention Fire Punch as well (hits MSciz and Ferrothorn while keeping solid damage against Magearna and MMaw; doesn’t hit Heatran tho) The EV spread is designed to maximize the opportunities it can get on its positive matchups, the maximum attack with an Adamant nature is to get the most damage off of the limited opportunities it gets, Filler and the Speed is to get the jump on slower threats such as max many Magearnas and Mawile-Megas. The bulk is designed to strengthen Tyranitars Volcarona and Tapu Lele matchup, specifically missing avoiding the OHKO from a Choice Specs Tapu Lele's Moonblast.

Finally Tyranitar pairs well with Garchomp-Mega and Sand Rush Excadrill due to it setting up Sand for them to abuse. Remove the Mega Garchomp mention, that only fits on HO. What (aside from sand) does Tyranitar provide for Excadrill? Also what other Pokemon benefit from Tyranitar’s Pursuit?

Running Stealth Rocks on Tyranitar over Earthquake and taking out some now unimportant speed can be viable but losing out on the Mawile-Mega matchup combined with the difficulty Tyranitar has coming in on the majority of the National Dex meta makes it extremely unrewarding.

A Tyranitar set with a lot more Special Defense investment, Leftovers, and Stealth Rocks can be used, but sadly it loses a lot of its offensive presence which is a defining factor of Tyranitar.

This section in general reads very awkwardly, it looks like you’re talk about two different sets but you might be talking about the same one? Please reword this, as well as mention Ice Punch.

I would like to note that it’s Mega [Pokemon], not [Pokemon]-Mega. Please fix this throughout the analysis before GPfixes your head on a platter. Tag meon Discord when its done so I can look through it again.

Running Stealth Rocks on Tyranitar in the fourth slot can be viable but losing out on the Mega Mawile matchup combined with the difficulty Tyranitar has coming in on the majority of the National Dex meta makes it extremely unrewarding. Tyranitar can run a specially defensive Stealth Rock set, but this is often outclassed by Mega Tyranitar, who boasts stronger attacks and better overall bulk. Ice Punch can also be used in the fourth slot on the Choice Band set to get surprise kills on Garchomp and Gliscor as well. Mention that it becomes fodder for Pokemon like Mega Mawile and Magearna if it opts to use Fire Punch.

Mention Ground-types, who threaten Tyranitar for a similar reason as Water-types

Mention status, as burn, paralysis, and poison all ruin Tyranitar in some way
