Hi, I made a sandstorm team because I like having weather to my advantage. I am pretty new to this and I would love feedback, specifically I do not think heliolisk and flygon are very effective
Heliolisk @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Sandstorm
- Focus Blast
- Dark Pulse
I really like Heliosk, but I have figured out that Sand Veil is ineffective in Showdown because it is an evasion ability. Ultimately, he is not really that effective as a sweeper. Either way, I like all focus blast and dark pulse for coverage, and leftovers because it negates sandstorm damage, I also have sandstorm because it is a second way to set sand, but heliolisk is so fragile it doesn’t always work
Tyranitar @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Crunch
- Sandstorm
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
Tyranitaur is my main sand setter with his ability, and i just really like the chip damage from rocky helmet. Stone Edge is super powerful and it can knock out pokemon that are not even weak to rock. His crunch and earthquake are also very powerful that give more coverage. He is also very tanky, which I like.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
Ferrothorn is my switch when a water type or threat to my many ground or rock types comes into play. He is tanky and doesnt get damaged by the sand beacuse he is steel. Leftovers and Leech Seed makes him harder to kill. Stealth Rock is super useful as well. Gyro Ball is great against fairy types and Power Whip is effective against water threats.
Excadrill @ Expert Belt
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Drill Run
- X-Scissor
- Swords Dance
- Rock Slide
Excadrill’s Sand Rush makes him really fast, and he is a really great sweeper in the sand. With swords dance, he is very hard to stop from going on a rampage. I like rock slide and drill run a lot, but I dont know if X-Scissor belongs. I have expert belt because he has three different type moves that offer good coverage, and I want to ensure one hit KOs
Flygon @ Assault Vest
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Dragon Claw
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
Flygon feels uneeded on this team as he is not great at sweeping because its not super fast, and he knows stone edge and earthquake, moves already known by more effective options like excadrill and tyranitaur . I dont know what else to say just because i dont know what to do here. Focus sash just saves him from getting killed when I am trying to sweep, but overall, its uneffective.
Reuniclus @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Light Screen
Reuniclus is really great because fighting types destroy my team, and it counters that, while not getting damaged from the storm bevause of overcoat ability, Im not sure what item to put on it so I just put leftovers. Light screen really helps my less diverse mostly rock and ground team not get destroyed by special attacks from water or fighting types. Really I added reuniclus as a counter to fighting types
Heliolisk @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Sandstorm
- Focus Blast
