Tyrunt @ Eviolite
Ability: Strong Jaw
Level: 5
EVs: 204 Atk / 60 Def / 212 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Rock Blast
- Psychic Fangs
- Close Combat
Tyrunt is a trendy pick in LC due to it ripping apart many teams after a single Dragon Dance. Its coverage options align nicely against the common Fighting-, Poison-, and Steel-types found on nearly every team. With one boost, Tyrunt OHKOes Mienfoo, Mareanie, and Pawniard and outspeeds the most common Choice Scarf user, Porygon. As a result, Tyrunt generally only needs help weakening Pokemon neutral to its coverage, such as Frillish and Trapinch, but very bulky Pokemon like Onix and Ferroseed can survive a hit from full. Setup opportunities are not very difficult to come by against the common Natu, Koffing, and Fire-types, though they can all run status moves to defang the threat of Tyrunt. However, these Pokemon do not regularly opt for status moves over coverage options, allowing Tyrunt to find a place on more teams than before. Popular teammates for Tyrunt are concerned with boosting its consistency. Spreading burns with Larvesta and Koffing and using Memento Diglett are two popular methods of supporting it.
