Im very new to ubers and I’ve really had quite abit of trouble trying to put a team together. I find it awesomely offensive and really fun but I have often thought if I should go stall which im fairly familiar with in OU. So I decided to make an uber stall team (after arceus release) but im getting destroyed quite a bit help me out...

scizor.png

THE LEAD:

Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 176 HP / 100 Atk / 176 SpD / 56 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Roost
- U-turn

Always loved Scizor, particularly bulky ones and I have had success with this as a lead. Against Darkrai I go straight for the U-turn and he can often come back in. I personally don’t mind sleep with AromaBliss as well as a scarf on it either, bulky scarfers are pretty useful IMO especially to my discoveries in OU. Roost helps with longevity for when it comes back in and alongside pursuit raping all phychics and bullet punch finnishing off the trapping combo. A nice little pokemon that has proved viable in all tiers he's not banned in.

THE STEEL:

skarmory.png

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Nature: Careful (+SpD, -SpA)
- Spikes
- Toxic
- Roost
- Whirlwind

I may be no Ubers expert but I’ve caught on that having a steel is vital. I though that I’d want a DEDICATED physical wall elsewhere so decided to go for physical / special “tank” here. Skarmory has had some good success, Toxic is the only way he deals damage and helps heaps with the “Stall” nature of the team. Spikes and whirlwind help to rack up that extra residual. I refuse to use Forretress, I hate it so much because he’s just set-up bait and honestly how is he good? He cant even recover so if anyone is suggesting him give me a bloody good reason. Whirlwind helps with racking up residual that Skarm and Groudon provide and Roost ensures he'll be around to do this all match.

THE SPECIAL WALL:

blissey.png

Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Nature: Calm (+SpD, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Ice Beam
- Softboiled
- Toxic

No other way to go for a DEDICATED special wall. Blissey is awesome and she eats special attacks like I eat vegemite on toast. This thing has worked awesome on the team and now with Aromatherapy my status weakness is cleared. Blissey also joins the fray in Toxic spamming and eats eggs all day, heals the team of pathetic status and attacks when it can, not doing much but that's not exactly her job. Even with only one moveslot left for an attack, Ice Beam has cool coverage against most things it wants to stall, all it struggles with is SpecsOgre's Water Spout which Latias handles. Other special threats such as Lati@s, Giratina-O, Deoxys-a and Mewtwo to name a few all take the same or more damage from Ice Beam > Seismic Toss.

THE PHYSICAL WALL:

lugia.png

Lugia @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 204 Spe
Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
- Whirlwind
- Ice Beam
- Reflect
- Roost

I love Lugia and always have from G/S/C, and glad to see he’s got his pluses against Giratina who I did consider but I honestly prefer Lugia (mainly because of roost, when Giratina gets that I’ll switch to him). Even still this beast is even able to stand up to special attacks without fearing death nearly as much as any other physical wall brag about. With reflect up which comes up easily I’m laughing at physical attacks all day. Whirlwind helps with extra phasing which Skarmory helps out with, the stalling nature of the team welcomes some much needed phazing into the entry hazards set up and Reflect is even useful for the whole team.

WEATHER CHANGER:

groudon.png

Groudon @ Leftovers
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Atk / 32 Def / 60 SpD / 8 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Roar
- Stealth Rock

There’s enough Kyogre going around and a lot of pokemon take advantage of that ever useful rain. That’s why a bulky Groudon is an awesome benefit to the team. Providing weather that often screws up teams with Kyogre is great, and his ability to set up much needed Stealth Rocks and help in the phazing is cool too. He lives Outrages from Rayquaza who I Dragon Claw to oblivion and thats the major physical threat out of the way. Obviously Toxic would be good to with the “Stall” nature of the team but Stealth Rocks looks best Scizor for a lead but I’ve got enough of that going around here, and Roar is really better in helping to rack up that residual.

Testing current set vs standard choice band...

THE SPECIAL TANK / SWEEPER:

latias.png

Latias @ Soul Dew
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 112 HP / 204 SpA / 192 Spe
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Thunderbolt
- Calm Mind
- Recover

Practically a special wall, yet its also quite fast and doesn’t pack the lightest punch in the slightest. This Latias is a great check for many common pokemon and its saves my ass in both offense and the battles I’ve tried to test this with. Calm Mind makes her that much more of a special tank and not many happily eat the attacking combo of Dragon / Electric. Her presence in the team clears up a lot of holes in offensive threats as well as packing an offensive threat of her own. Conforming to the "Stall" nature of the team in her special tanking is alot better than Blissey having a go at Kyorgre who 2HKOs the fatty with its pathetically powered Water Spout. Latias comes in on anything but Ice Beam which Blissey can come in on, examples like this happilly welcome Latias to this stalling mahem.

Threats List (Under Construction)
--------------------------------

That’s the team, with more updates out I will update a threats list. Obviously really need the help in process making of the team, any suggestions will help as I’m really quite new to Ubers.

A combination of Toxic Spikes and Toxic users is going to utterly destroy this team. Not to worry though i have the solution.

Im going to suggest you change Blissey to an Aroma Bliss. You may be felling that you are open to CMers but the status removal support will be more helpful. Latias will actually take on and beat the majority of CMers it easily beats CroKyogre it also even beats Giratina - O. On Blissey you could still run Psych Up to steal boosts. I would have run that with Ice Beam and Softboiled. If you choose not to run Psych Up you could run
Toxic.

On Latias i suggest Thunderbolt simply because it provides better coverage.

On Groudon i suggest not running T Wave as you already have multiple Toxic flying about. You should certainly run Stealth Rock maybe Stone Edge or Roar as the final move.

On Lugia your main Rayquaza counter you should definitely run Ice Beam and Whirlwind. Toxic wont be that useful considering you have enough already.

Skarmory and Scizor are both fine. Although consider this EV spread on Scizor from the its a trap set.

176 HP / 100 Atk / 176 SpD / 56 Spe

The 100 Attack EVs will OHKO standard Mewtwo, Latias, and Darkrai most of the time with U-turn unless they invest a ridiculous amount of EVs in their HP and Defense stats. Bullet Punch will hamper not only Deoxys-A, but also Darkrai since it resists Pursuit anyway. On top of that, a 379 HP / 216 Def Rayquaza suffers 36 – 43% from Scizor’s Bullet Punch, or a 95% chance of a 2HKO with Stealth Rock taken into account.

They give you excellent sp.def too. A life Orb may be an idea over lum as you have Blissey for Darkrai anyway. Roost over superpower for longevity.

@ iKitsune:

aromabliss: definately agree but im not a fan of psych up so ive gone with toxic. im really feeling that ice beam isn't doing jack with CM boosts though... would seismic toss be better?

latias: i agree with coverage and i guess groudon is checked by lugia, but kyogre seems tricky i mean latias will come in on certain choiced attacks but can blissey live specs ogres water spout?

groudon: also agreeing there and decided to use roar and keeping the ground / dragon coverage which is awesome. im thinking rest could work though, after all i have aromabliss... would it work?

lugia: with SkarmBliss running toxic i agree with ditching it on him.

skarmory: i love this too...

scizor: nice spread ill use it, i guess sleep is healed by aromabliss and choice scarf would ruin longevity but i guess having bulky scarf is pretty scary.

one note on arceus... should i change in one for when he gets released? the two sets i have seem pretty cool but obviously species clause ruins the chance of having both so should scizor / skarm get the sack for an arceus? im thinking scizor seeming having skarm with toxic, spikes AND whirlwind just beats arceus... that's a statement.

just need the help in the arceus department... HE'S GETTING RELEASED SOON ANYWAY!!!

Lots to discuss.

Seismic Toss is probably equally as good Ice Beam really personal prefence , do you want to hit Rayquaza?. In fact you should probably go with Seismic Toss the Uber metagame is not very heal oriented so i think the reliable damage will work better also you have mulltiple rayquaza counters. Of course test them both out first.

Latias is the best Kyogre counter in the game. You may want to run Grass Knot for Kyogre and Groudon it hits them both substantially harder but if you really hate Lugia Tbolt is still worthwile. Blissey in fact does gets 2hkoed by SpecsOgre's Water Spout but Latias can live the hit outspeed and severely weaken its power. Be careful though as many Kyogre users use Ice Beam to catch Latias off guard and get the neutral hit on Palkia although if they do this Blissey easily walls them.

Rest may work but w/o sleep talk its generally not advised depends how succesful roar is really. Incidentally an offensive Groudon may work well like a Rock Polish or Choice Bander. I know its a stall team but offense will certainly struggle against the heavy hits it deals out, certainly changing the momentum and would still perform a similar function to the current one, taking the odd Outrage and killing/checking Dialga and Rayquaza.

No one really knows exactly how arceus will perform. I would if you do anything change Scizor to a fighting arceus for Darkrai and the Steel and Normal arceus that will run rampant. Im afraid i cant suggest a set.

I decided to keep thunderbolt on latias for that invaluable coverage on the only special i got. groudon looks fine but ill test out some offensive sets I'm thinking a bulky CB groudon. also testing ice beam vs. seismic toss on blissey.

thanks heaps too iKitsune, you've been a major help to the community working your butt of everywhere recently so thanks a lot =3

EDIT: Focused on testing Blissey first, became apparent that Ice Beam was better than Seismic Toss. Lati@s, Giratina-O, Deoxys-A, Mewtwo and the like take practically the same / more damage than seismic toss deals. Seismic toss only has the reliable "weakener" of SpecsOgre's water spouts as toxic stall isn't quick enough damage to weaken enough to be walled, but Latias covers that once it's choice locked, otherwise blissey can still come in and toxic stall.

@Cream

I do try.

I think CB Bulky Groudon would work really well. Ill be interested to see how well though. Use the set in the analysis that is definitely bulky enough.
