After toying with OU and UU playstyles and finding that I did not like them very much I decided to try out Uber battling. I experimented with many teams before settling on this one. I have done fairly well with it, winning most of my battles but I would like it to be much better.
The Team:
Deoxys-S @ Lum Berry Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball
I will nearly always lead with Deoxys as it lets me get the all important stealth rock up that lets me get all important kills (including completely destroying baton pass teams). Taunt stops Blissey from being useful (I got a Blissey to struggle with taunt once) and also means that forretress and ferrothorn from setting up on my team. The two attacking moves are for anything that is weak to them (especially garchomp and mewtwo) who think that they can just defeat me with crunch and shadow ball respectively. Lum berry is for random status and darkrai if I don't taunt it.
Arceus @ Life Orb
Trait: Multitype
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- ExtremeSpeed
- Shadow Claw
- Earthquake
This is usually the first pokemon I will turn to when Deoxys is KO'd. It kills nearly everything without swords dance up and if it can set up its game over pretty much all the time. I usually swords dance on a pokemon like Blissey or Ferrothorn as they cannot usually do too much damage to me. Shadow claw helps with Giratina as it cannot be extremespeeded (is that a word?) and does more damage to mewtwo if I am faster (which is rare). Earthquake is just there to deal with Reshiram and Zekrom, but also helps against the omnipresent Ferrothorn.
Lugia @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Dragon Tail
- Roost
- Substitute
- Ice Beam
My wall. If it is faster, very little can break through the combination of roost and substitute and if it is not faster, my defences are still enormous and lugia will hardly ever be OHKO'd. Ice beam deals with Garchomp unless sand is up and I get Hax'd with sand veil (missed 3 times in a row once which cost me the game). This lugia is especially good at getting blissey out the way as it cannot touch lugia with a substitute up and will just be forced out with dragon tail.
Shaymin-S @ Life Orb
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Seed Flare
- Air Slash
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
This is the reason I have never lost to Kyogre. Seed flare destroys Kyogre and even ones that invest heavily in special defence risk getting their special defence halved with seed flares secondary effect. As it is always faster than non-scarfed kyogre the only way I will lose my shaymin is if seed flare misses. Air slash has the flinch hax that people hate so much which has lead to many of my wins being caused by ragequits from this here.
Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Rapid Spin
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
- Volt Switch
Forretress is standard. Spinner, walls stuff sets up hazards that cripple every grounded pokemon in the game (except reuniclus and poison types). Sets up spikes and toxic spikes then volt switches out to spin or act as death fodder later on. Toxic spikes means blissey has to keep switching, which in turn damages other pokemon and poisons them it also means that set up sweepers have much less help to go on as it essentially puts them on a timer. Spikes helps to remove Giratina-A and also stops pokemon like groudon that could wall most of the team if shaymin is dead.
Thundurus (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 200 HP / 60 Atk / 248 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Thunder Wave
- Toxic
- Taunt
- U-turn
This is an unorthodox set at least and one that allows me to cripple teams if forretress was killed spinning or was tricked a scarf. Prankster means that taunt, thunder wave and toxic all get priority and it means that I can cripple sweepers like darkrai and opposing shaymin before they can react. U-turn allows me to retain momentum and was chosen over Volt switch so I can escape from groudon rather than resorting to swiching. It also allows me to KO some Darkrai if they are taunted and have taken some hazard damage.
Thank you for reading my team and I hope it can be improved.
