XY Ubers Ubers balance team.

After laddering for reqs with some borrowed Ubers teams I enjoyed the tier so much that I decided to make my own team and see how good it was. Using borrowed teams helped me understand the meta so much better than I knew it that I was inspired to make this team.

Arceus Grass

Arceus-Grass @ Meadow Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 248 HP / 136 SpD / 124 Spe
Calm Nature
- Recover
- Grass Knot
- Defog
- Roar

Arceus is my basic Kyogre switch in. Resisting 3 out of the four moves it runs makes it a decently effective switch in on all scarf variants and a rather decent switch in to specs ogre. Roar is used as opposed to Will-o-Wisp to avoid Mega Gengar on the switch and to prevent Gothitelle from setting up on it. Defog support is greatly appreciated on this team and I would prefer that my defogger not be trapped and killed. The EV's are so that it can out speed timid specs Kyogre and weaken it with Grass Knot.

Aegislash

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Gyro Ball
- Toxic
- King's Shield
- Shadow Sneak

Aegislash's primary role on my team is to check GeoXern with its plethora of resistances to its common coverage moves. In addition I also use this as a lead if I suspect my opponent to lead with Deoxys-A. Gyro ball is a strong STAB move and shadow sneak is solid priority. Toxic is to hit predicted switched and King's Shield is required.

Ho-oh

Ho-Oh @ Choice Band
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 224 HP / 172 Atk / 80 SpD / 32 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Sacred Fire
- Earthquake
- Sleep Talk

Bulky Banded Ho-oh is a really good offensive pokemon and scares out pokemon like Grass Arceus who checks my Kyogre. Ho-oh also helps to take the ubiquitous WoW's coming from various pokemon. I use sleep talk so I can beat darkrai if it puts me to sleep.

Yveltal

Yveltal @ Black Glasses
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Taunt
- Toxic

At this point I realized I needed an Ekiller check so I picked the most obvious one and wound up with this. Defensive Yveltal is a monster and checks a ton of physical attackers very well. It is also my usual go-to counter to Mega Kangashkan. I use toxic to hit Xerneas on the switch and taunt to prevent set up or recovery.

Kyogre
3GvTUoG.jpg

Kyogre @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Water Spout
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunder

Kyogre is a monster. With Choice Scarf it becomes a dangerous revenge killer that can sweep entire teams if they have been weakened enough. I don't really have much to say here it is scarf Kyogre and is pretty standard.

Dialga
Primal_Dialga_art.png

Dialga @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Draco Meteor
- Flash Cannon
- Fire Blast

Dialga is primarily my stealth rock setter. It can easily find time to pressure opponents with good speed and powerful attacks. It also serves as a soft check to and sort of Kyorgre who may threaten my team if Arceus Grass has been worn down too much. Fire Blast is solid coverage that allows me to OHKO Klefki and deal solid damage to all relevant steel types.

hey akelly96, solid team!

I actually can't find any notable weaknesses outside of SpecsOgre, but every team is weak to that beast anyway :P I love the synergy of Kyogre + Dialga + Arceus-Grass - They both serve extraordinarily well to pave a path to Kyogre sweeping.

Quite honestly, It's difficult to notice any major flaws. This is an absurdly solid team that I might steal to use myself. I particularly like Roar on Grassceus, which is a great way to beat Gothitelle, although Gengar-Mega still beats it. With that said, though, both will more than likely be out of the tier soon.

When the aforementioned threats ARE removed, I'd recommend optimizing Arceus-Grass' set to help this team deal with opposing offensive Ho-Oh, something that this team doesn't have too much of a solid answer to.

This Arceus-Grass set allows it to avoid the 2HKO from Doubledance Groudon, takes ~49% from Kyogre's Ice Beam, and does 90% to full health Ho-Oh with Stone Edge. I know this because earlier today, I spent half an hour on an ideal spread for the thing ._.

Arceus-Grass @ Meadow Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 248 HP / 32 Def / 116 SpD / 112 Spe
Timid Nature
- Recover
- Defog
- Grass Knot
- Stone Edge

This is an incredibly solid team. Good luck, and welcome to the tier!

EDIT: Adamant Orb > Life Orb on Dialga, and Thunder > Fire Blast. You don't want to be taking too much recoil damage, and Fire Blast is weakened by the rain Kyogre brings (also, your team can handle Scizor and or Ferrothorn with ease)

Ye echoing, amazing team very solid synergy. Good job man, I don't believe you're new to this tier. This team is very good. Double tagging Aenonar because he thought it would be a good idea to mention a specsogre weakness, which you don't have at all,, Grasseus is a strong sponge, and even if its weakened you still have both Dialga and your own ogre to deal with it. Take stone edge on grasseus as you're kinda ho-ho weak otherwise I guess, so that fixes all your problems. I'm hellla tired right now so thats why this isn't some quality post, sry for that, I''ll edit some quality stuff in tomorrow and tag you then if I find a weakness which I cant rn, but I probably wont bc solid team. Also krau wtf stop ninja'ing me and being a fast writer this is unfair >:[

Sadly the team is weak to the omnipresent mgar/rockeus/blissey core, especially if it has a specsogre on it

Edit: Convo showing we both think this team is really strong. (don't mind the rest dialga part I guess idk)
[00:32] ApplepieFTW: that team really is good with stone edge grasseus
[00:32] ApplepieFTW: oml I'm stealing that
[00:32] Aenonar: lol
[00:32] ApplepieFTW: for post-gar
[00:32] Aenonar: tbh
[00:32] Aenonar: so am I
[00:32] ApplepieFTW: also using rest dialga on it
[00:32] ApplepieFTW: to mitigate
[00:32] Aenonar: i dislike rest dialga
[00:32] Aenonar: ;;
[00:32] ApplepieFTW: grasseus getting trapped
[00:32] ApplepieFTW: by goth
[00:33] ApplepieFTW: rest dialga doesnt fuking die and its god on any form of balance
[00:33] ApplepieFTW: :]
[00:33] Aenonar: ._.

Hey akelly96,

We actually met on the ladder and had a friendly chat, so yeah you know me already. I missed 5 WoW if that rings a bell :]. Anyways, welcome to the tier, I believe you were interested in becoming more active in the community so yeah feel free to pm me if you want to chat or anything. This team is very solid for a first build, as many of my fellow users have noted. However, I do see some weaknesses here. Yveltal is particularly threatening to this team, as it can come in on Grassceus and Aegislash and you don't really have any switch ins. Along similar lines, Ho-Oh is also a threat, especially since it isn't that hard to defog on stuff like Grassceus, not to mention you kind of want hazards off too. As Minority Suspect noted, Blaziken is a threat, it doesn't really need Stone Edge that badly particularly if rocks are up. Gengar is pretty threatening as well, as is a late game Zekrom. Also, the team is a little bit stall weak, mostly because there is no cleric so you are susceptible to being overwhelmed by stall. I also feel like there is a lot of pressure on Grassceus, since you really want it to be defogging, but it is also needed to check Zekrom, grounds, and Kyogre.

So here is what I am think in regards to this team. The first major change I might make is running Lando-T over Dialga. The point of this change is to check Ho-Oh and Blaziken better, and while it seems like Grassceus might be more pressured to check Kyogre, it will probably ultimately relieve pressure by checking grounds and Zekrom nicely. Secondly, I also suggest Cleric Xerneas (or Sylveon) over Ho-Oh. I understand that you lose offensive pressure as a team as a whole, and the playstyle becomes more stallish, but I feel like having a Cleric and checking Yveltal, Palkia, etc. is realy important. Since you are now even weaker to Gengar though, I suggest running Pursuit on Aegislash, over either Toxic or Shadow Sneak. You also miss out on CB Ho-Oh's stallbreaking, so I suggest running SpecsOgre > ScarfOgre.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Atk
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn / Toxic

Xerneas @ Leftovers
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Aromatherapy
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

So:

Dialga--->Lando-T
Ho-Oh--->Xerneas
ScarfOgre--->SpecsOgre
Pursuit on Aegislash

OPTIMIZATION:

Grassceus- use Aenonar's spread

Aegislash- set should be 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SDef with a Sassy Nature, also Pursuit

Kyogre- 4 SDef/Def > 4 HP to get a better entry hazard number

Good luck!
