(I am terrible with titles)
At a glance:
So, here is my team. The idea was for Gengar to trap and remove certain pokemon, especially defensive threats, to allow other pokemon to meet less resistance in attempting to clean up the remaining pokemon.
In Depth:
Gengar (F) @ Gengarite
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Destiny Bond
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
Gengar's purpose on this team, as previously stated, is to trap and remove certain threats. For example, Gengar could switch into, say Ferrothorn, trapping it, taunting it, and destroying it. I opted for Sludge Wave to hit fairies over FocusMiss Blast. Destiny bond allows Gengar to get a KO on a pokemon that happens to be giving the team trouble at any given time, either by walling or setting up dangerously.
Arceus (Arceus-Ghost) @ Spooky Plate
Trait: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Defog
- Judgment
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
Arceus-Ghost's job is to keep hazards off the field. He is a great bulky defog user and is able to scare or cripple physical attackers with a burn. Recover increases longevity, and thus the amount of time it can support the team. I do occasionally run into problems with Normal Types, as Judgement is the only attack, but I am not sure if I should replace moves, and if so, which move(s) to replace.
Yveltal @ Leftovers
Trait: Dark Aura
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Oblivion Wing
- Dark Pulse
- U-turn
- Taunt
Yveltal is a pretty standard bulky attacker. Taunt stops defensive pokemon (although it does seem redundant with Mega Gengar above). Oblivion Wing is a great attack, as recovery is very nice, but Dark Pulse consistantly deals the most damage, boosted by STAB and Dark Aura. U-turn keeps momentum nicely, especially if I predict a switch. Yveltal is a good check to Arceus-Ghost.
Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Imposter
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Transform
Ditto is a great revenge killer with the Choice Scarf. With GeoXerneas everywhere, Ditto can come in, and often times finish the weakened Xerneas, proceeding to go on a sweep of its own. Similarly, Ditto is actually a superb Extremekiller check, unless they have other Ghosts to switch to. Occasionally, I allow an opposing Arceus to get to +4 or +6, and then revenge kill and sweep with Ditto. 252 HP is really the only EVs that matter, as the HP stat is not copied.
Xerneas @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Fairy Aura
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Moonblast
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Psyshock
Scarf Xerneas is pretty underrated in my opinion. I don't see it too often, and Geomancy is almost assumed sometimes. This assumption allows Xerneas the ability to OHKO many pokemon that did not expect to be outsped, or expected a Geomancy. Notably, Scarf Xerneas can outspeed and OHKO Darkrai and Scarf Zekrom. Xerneas can also switch into Outrages and force a switch.
Ho-Oh @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Sacred Fire
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Toxic
Ho-Oh is one of the best pokemon in the current ubers metagame. Aside from being an amazing Xerneas counter, Ho-Oh cripples with burns and lives a long time with Regenerator+Roost. Toxic allows Ho-Oh to put a timer on fire types that it can't burn, including other Ho-Oh. 248 HP EVs gives odd health, and 252 Sdef allows him to soak up special hits and stall many special attackers.
Threats:
Kyogre is a great threat to this team; I cannot OHKO it and the Scarf variant outspeeds pretty much everything except for Xerneas.
Ho-Oh is also difficult- I can Toxic with my own Ho-Oh but other than that, I can't do surmountable damage.
M2Y is not easy either. Ditto is a decent answer after it is weakened, but its coverage moves defeat Yveltal and Psystrike takes care of Ho-Oh reasonably well.
Overall, this team is quite solid and has done pretty well. Please rate, thank you.
