Welcome to the Ubers UU Ghosting Tournament! This will be the first ghosting tournament held within the Ubers UU format, and I am pleased to announce that thanks to our donors, this tournament will have a prize pool of $900!

Rules

Battle Rules:

  • This tournament will be played in Ubers UU.
  • This tournament will be use a double elimination, best-of-1 format. Repeats are required in the event of a tie.
  • If a change is made to the tier (a mon is banned/unbanned), changes would not go into effect until the next round.
  • If you're playing on the main server, please make the room public for spectating purposes. If your room is hidden, type /modjoin off and /publicroom.
  • Timer: Do NOT turn on the timer in your battle until after 15 minutes have passed since it started. This is non-negotiable, unless it is stated by both teams at the start of the match as agreed upon having the timer on before the 15 minute mark. Use the servertime command to keep track of this (see below). This is to allow enough time to properly ghost.
    • In order to keep track of 15 minutes, type !st in the chat when the battle begins. Type !st in the chat again when you want to turn the timer on. Agreement from both sides is not required.
    • If you're on SmogTours, ask anyone that has a %, @, or ~ next to their name to turn off the timer in your battle. Try to make sure that a staff member is online before you start playing. If there isn't one, play on Main. If the timer does not get turned off before the match progresses into being played past the lead screen, let the timer run out and redo the game.
  • Replays: you must post a replay of your win. You can hide it or unlist it, but you have to post it.

Ghosting Rules:

  • You can ghost (clue's in the name) within your team's roster.
  • Teams are to be made up of 3 players. One of these three players will be your “Captain”, who is in charge of registering your team.
  • A majority of your team (preferably entire) should be present at a battle, so it's probably a good idea to form a team with similar timezones and availabilities. At minimum, 2 of your players should be present during the match and any absences are at the discretion of the player themselves. Your Captain MUST be present, however.
  • You are allowed to ghost over a voice call, or using text logs. Proof of ghosting must be provided in either format, and linked when you submit the replay. Losers can choose to post their ghosting logs but are not required.
    • If you're playing on Main and have a trusted user on your team, make a groupchat (/makegroupchat) to do your ghosting if you choose to use text ghosting. It makes it easy to just copy and paste the logs into a pastebin.
    • If you're playing on SmogTours or on Main but without a trusted user, use Discord, but make sure to copy and paste your logs while in compact mode.
    • If you're in a voice call, you'll need to record a video and audio of your call and, if possible, the battle. Upload it to YouTube.
    • Make sure to choose a format that works best of the entire team.

How the Money will be distributed:

  • This tournament will be a Winner-takes-all format, where the first-place team takes home the entire prize pool.
  • Captains will be in charge of determining how to split the prize pool within their teams. To avoid conflict, ensure that every member is on board with the amounts they would get before registering your teams.

Other than that, all tournament rules and guidelines apply (minus the ones about ghosting, obviously). Failure to comply with these rules will result in a loss or a coinflip.

Me and my team would like to claim an activity win.

We initially contacted our opponents captain on Tuesday to which they rejected our initial proposed time, while stating they’d only be able to do weekends. In response to this we stated our inability to play on weekends and offered the extension weekdays as well. After replying to their message it’s been 4 days of radio silence from Suzuya. Their captain had the ability to add their other team members to the group chat and didn’t, but since my team contacted their captain we were under no obligation to message any additional members of their teams, as the captain is responsible for scheduling. We are no longer able to do good on our offer of Monday-Wednesday extension as we all have made prior commitments now. It is unreasonable for us to keep our schedules cleared up when our opponents do not have the decency of respecting our time and not answering our scheduling attempts. The tournament scheduling guide also states that we are under no obligation to follow up with reminder messages so that they can schedule, as this responsibility once again falls on them and their captain. We also followed up with asking Hiro, a TD, if it’s reasonable to call activity in this case and they responded with yes.

what a surprise to see I have so much words to read on a Sunday morning, let’s take part of the discussion.

First and foremost we all have commitments man. I was really busy these days and told you anyway that playing in week were nearly impossible according to the difference of GMT between my players and I. I was planning to answer sometime today but seems like you had the greatest idea to call act for w-e reason. You’re clearly trying to fish esp I heard my players received no ping either on disc or smogon from your part which clearly indicated that you didn’t wanted a game done which is kinda concerning since it’s final…
Since you had enough time to make an huge post to call act im p sure you also have the time to find a reasonable window of time to get this game done either later today or in the following days.
I wish everyone a good Sunday, to the hosts, I will just say that if you want this tour to be competitive fr don’t grant this act out of nowhere, my players and I are still motivated to play at any time and I think that’s why everyone signed up for this.
Peace

would like to mention the conversation didn't have option for suzuya to add us in it

There should be a invite more option under participants for him to be able to add, maybe it's cuz of the new smogon update or they just didn't allow but ya he couldn't add.

We are open to playing at any reasonable time today or in the coming days even though we would of preferred not to,While I am sorry that suzuya didnt reply he had already mentioned in the scheduling that weekdays werent possible for us and ewin's team were still asking for weekday which was a non starter for us regardless.

Would like to urge to host that Winner's bracket finals of a $900 tour going to act loss shouldn't be the verdict,an extension till next sunday would still be a better route to take than giving loss this deep in a tour where they were offering days which we had already told no to,we are still motivated to play and if ewin's team had messaged either of me or ampha on disc/smogon or added us in the conversation we coulda known that suzuya hadn't replied due to him being busy and woulda proceeded with the scheduling, since suzuya had no option to add us and neither of me or ampha being made known of them needing a response it can be clearly seen that they were interested in trying to act fish. Once again gonna mention we are down to play at any reasonable time today or in the next week and since they had time to write the post they should have time to get a 15 min game done.

As the only other team scheduled this week has requested an extension, I have decided that the simplest way forward is to extend the current round by a full week, to ensure that scheduling around both sides is fair. I will not be honoring the act claim. To ensure that this game actually gets played, include all of both of your teams in scheduling this round (and add me in as well for easier visibility). As a reminder, while it is mandatory for Captains to be present, you only need two members of your team available at any given time if you cannot find a mutual time for each side of three.

Round extension deadline will be Sunday, October 13th, at 23:59 EST (GMT -4).
