UM Community Create-a-Team!
approved by a fairy and Imperial | everything stolen from April's OM CCAT

Welcome to the UM Community Create-a-Team, a twice-a-month event where the UM community comes together to create a team for one of our many metagames!

During a CCAT, the host(s) will present the room with a core, and from there will guide users step-by-step through creating an entire team from it! Users will have the opportunity to present potential teammates, moveset adjustments, or specific EV spreads to suit the team, with the goal of making a final team that's both viable and fun! Once the team is created, the roomstaff will start up a roomtour, and any players who get into finals using the team we made will get a spot in our CCAT Hall of Fame, alongside the team itself.

There's four stages to this process:

Submission stage: The month's schedule will be posted in this thread as well as edited into the OP post. Users will have up until the day before the event to submit a core of 2 Pokemon (or 1 in case of 1v1) they'd like to build around in this thread. If you see a submission you'd like to see featured, give it a :alomomola:LOVE react! Gimmicky submissions are not disallowed, but please do not post unviable garbage.

Voting Stage: On the day before the event, a poll featuring the 2 or 3 submissions with the most love reacts will be started in the UM Room on PS! The winner of this poll will be the core centered around during the event!

Teambuilding Stage: The teambuilding event will last roughly an hour, potentially running longer if disagreement occurs. Hosts will first present the winning core, and from there, it's all in the hands of the users! Users will comment in chat about potential moveset or EV adjustments as well as what team member to add next. Creative and unconventional suggestions are encouraged, so long as they're viable! If there's a general consensus on a minor change, the host(s) can implement it at their own discretion, but otherwise a short poll will be conducted. The team is complete once 6 Pokemon* have been added and, at host and roomstaff discretion, there's a general consensus that the team is finished.
*3 and 4 in the cases of 1v1 and 2v2, respectively

The Tournament Stage: Once the team is complete, the roomstaff will start a roomtour of the metagame the team was built for! Users are not required to bring the newly created team, as this tour will serve to highlight any notable weaknesses in the team to be noted. Any player who enters finals while using the CCAT team will earn a spot in the Hall of Fame!

If you're interesting in hosting a future CCAT or would like to suggest a metagame for the next month, please send zastra a message

Pretty decent special offense breaking core here imo. Frogadier spikes can be quite a pain to deal with, especially if there's a Missy to spinblock, and specs Giraf screws with stuff like Ivy and Mareanie that come in on Frog's hpumps.

Edit: Future sight giraf is cause it really doesn't have many good options for that last slot, and I figured you could do a sequence like:
> Tink comes in on Giraf clicking fsight
> Pilo swaps in on Tink
And now something dies most likely cause Quax isn't going to be able to take an eq/hhp + fsight well at all, nor Missy an icicle crash + fsight.

wanted to submit 1 myself in the hopes of motivating others :p

:sv/tinkatuff: :sv/drakloak:
Tinkatuff @ Eviolite
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
- Thunder Wave
- Encore

Drakloak @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Shadow Ball
- Hydro Pump
- Hex
Classic hazard + spinblocker core. Tink also spreads twave to power up kloak's Hexes. knock and encore support Kloak in breaking really well too. Now you could use misdreavus over drakloak, but where's the fun in that? Kloak's dragon typing / moves and coverage in pump allow it to spinblock and offensively pressure (most) teams better.

:sv/piloswine::sv/pignite:
I wanted to throw the offensive core of Pignite + Piloswine into the ring! These two make a really solid pair because Pignite breaks apart cores, with Knock Off + Strong STABS, relying on Quaxwell/Hattrem + Missy/Clefairy to check Piloswine, since these are some of the better switch ins to take it on. Piloswine can work with a Choice Band if Tinkatuff is on the team to really break through these guys, while Eviolite works well since it still hits hard without the Choice Band.

:sv/Monferno: :sv/Thwackey:
Adding onto offensive cores, Monferno and Thwackey pair together to form a powerhouse core. Monferno can threaten away Tinkatuff and Grass-types like Thwackey, Ivysaur, and Servine, and can either pivot out of bad matchups like Quaxwell with U-turn or be annoying and spread Knock Off, which is helpful against walls like Misdreavus. Meanwhile, Thwackey functions as a powerful breaker and cleaner with Grassy Surge powering up Grassy Glide and Wood Hammer. Grassy Terrain also mitigates Earthquake damage from incoming Gabite and Vigoroth (though watch out from High Horsepower from Piloswine!), while also giving Monferno additional passive recovery without needing to rely on Slack Off. Despite the nerf to Grassy Glide, it is still a very threatening move and can get surprising KO ranges at +2, especially with a Life Orb, though Eviolite or Choice Band items are fine if more bulk or immediate power is preferred.

Congratulations to Finchely for their winning submission!

CCAT I is completed, though participation was low in the teambuilding phase. I hope future CCATs will be more active!

Here's the team: :frogadier::girafarig::piloswine::grimer-alola::misdreavus::monferno:

Huge shoutouts to 5Dots for covering up for me and doing everything in the building phase. Also congratulations on winning the tour, you're now on the Hall of Fame!

A poll has been put up in the thread to decide the tiers for April. Please vote!

The tiers for April CCATs are AG and UUbers! The exact times will be posted later.

You may now start suggesting SV AG cores! Remember to :alomomola:love react any cores you'd like to see featured! You have approximately 1 week to submit cores.

i shall start this thing
:Calyrex-Shadow: + :Arceus-Fairy:
Baton Pass Calyrex + Speedy Power Gem Fairy
probably my favorite thing to use in AG, Baton Pass Caly is always a fun Pokémon and Arceus-Fairy is a great recipient, +2 Arceus Fairy is incredibly scary for lots of teams and having it be speed invested makes it that much more deadly, you can also simply not pass to Arceus and just use it normally, it still has great traits since it's still Arceus-Fairy.

:Koraidon: +:Miraidon:
Choice Scarf Koraidon + Heavy-Duty Boots Miraidon
SV AG's most classic and useful offensive combination, the strength of Miraidon and Koraidon is beyond words. In ag, Miraidon's check ting-lu is afraid of Koraidon, and Koraidon's check HO-OH, arc-fairy and arc-water are afraid of Miraidon. Both have UT, and can find opportunities by constantly playing. I gave two most common sets, but in actual combat, the sets can be changed to make the opponent defenseless.

:Ho-oh: + :alomomola:
Specially defensive tera grass Ho-oh + Physically defensive Alomomola
This submission is not gonna win cause yall hate stall but it's my favourite core regardless the most annoying mu for stall is boots mirai as it beats every pokemon on stall with good enough play.Ho-oh with tera grass is the best counter to mirai+kyogre teams that are a very hard mu to stall otherwise the interesting thing ofc is the fact that this strange use of tera on 1 specific mon is seen only exclusively in ag because the way ag stall works. You rarely have to use any other tera in the designated match up for example vs korai+caly team u don't have to tera Ho-oh and still get the jump on korai+caly interactions but vs kyogre + mirai u can instantly tera Ho-oh as u are very unlikely to need any other tera. The other mon on the core is mola which beats the koraidon that miraidon is so often paired with allowing u to completely shit down the voltturn combos attempt of making progress vs u another thing mola has is protect allowing u to scout the attacks of specs kyogre thus helping Ho-oh and the other beat it.Overall this double regen core can easily soft check the whole meta like caly-s/mirai/kyogre/ekiller/groundceus/zacian etc. and allow your stall to not be overwhelmed by the korai+mirai core that is ever present in the meta. Again as I said in start it's not gonna win due to the people's hate on stall but in my opinion this core explores the more in depth parts of the ag meta which are often overlooked.

:sv/Arceus-Ground: :sv/Eternatus:
Arceus-Ground @ Earth Plate
Ability: Multitype
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 56 Atk / 136 Def / 68 Spe
Impish Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Recover

Eternatus @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 248 HP / 64 SpA / 152 SpD / 44 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dynamax Cannon
- Toxic Spikes
- Toxic
- Recover
One of my favourite Bulky Offense cores to use. Arceus-Ground opts a more bulky spread so that is able to setup more easily while 68 Speed is used to outspeed Boots Caly-S after +1. Both of these Pokemon compliment each other really nicely. Eternatus is able to setup Toxic Spikes to put a timer on the opponent's defensive cores (usually Ting-Lu and Arceus), and is able to Toxic Ho-Oh which derails its longevity and allows Arceus-Ground to setup more effectively. Eternatus is with a Modest nature to ensure an OHKO on Korai, but it could very well just be a bulky spread and you will be fine. 56 Attack ensures Arceus-Ground kills opposing Eternatus after +1. I like to run Tera Fairy on Arceus-Ground so that is able to setup on Scale Korai, snowballing into a sweep sooner or later. That's it from my side, enjoy!

:Ribombee::Glimmora:
Glimm bee webs has became my favorite playstyle in gen 9 anything goes and I think it is really fun to build around. Glimmora provides a webs team with valuable hazard control with mortal spin as well as tspikes absorption and can even set tspikes with its ability if you come in on a physical move. Even though running this core essentially puts you at a 6v4, The hazards set by Ribombee and Glimmora allows your breakers to essentially win the game once they get in positon.

:hatterene: + :kyogre: for AG
Hatterene + Kyogre (particularly :choice-specs: :kyogre:) is a stupidly broken core as hatterene offsets basically one of the very few weaknesses that kyogre has, which is losing HP to hazards by straight up keeping them off,

Hatterene is also able to pivot to kyogre on a wall, bringing it in safely with the help of baton pass, once it's done from there, all you got to do is keep clicking spout (or ice beam on a predicted koraidon/etern switch in) and then you eventually just win long term.

Both compliment each other really well and help be a very threatening core in the AG metagame.

(EVs are stolen from ubers builder, don't ask what they do.)

Let me ask you something: why do you play AG? Is it to break free from the species clause? Are you maybe sick of tier shifts? Do you wish to push cartridge battles to their limit? No. You play AG because deep down, at your core, you are a legendary spammer. And what's more legendary spam than stacking the same busted monster on one team? AG staples like Calyrex, Arceus, and Miraidon all already are either locked to one per team, have forms that feel like different pokemon altogether, or simply don't benefit from having a duplicate. But Koraidon? Koraidon has so much potential.

:sv/Koraidon: :sv/Koraidon:

Koraidon has some of the most standard yet some of the most versatile sets in SVAG. And because of this, it fits will with so many pokemon, including itself. In addition to the classis Choice Scarf Koraidon set, sets including Loaded Dice, Life Orb, and Choice Band are menacing, and altogether can provide speed control, set-up sweepers, or sheer wallbreakers, while also forcing the opponent to accurately predict what set they are switching into. Depending on the specific sets used, two different Koraidons can actually complement each other quite well. Scale Shot Koraidon struggles when it does not get the opportunity to set-up, and can get naturally outsped and OHKOed by Calyrex-Shadow and Zacian-Crowned. Against these, however, Choice Scarf Koraidon can outspeed and threaten a OHKO with Flare Blitz. However, Choice Scarf Koraidon does not do well into defensive Ho-oh or Arceus-Fairy, and that's when Swords Dance Koraidon can bait a tera fairy from Ho-oh or, with tera steel and substitute, turn Arceus-Fairy into set-up fodder. The sheer damage output and versatility that comes from multiple Koraidons is incredible, and is even stronger from the fact that the opponent does not know which one is in front of them. With a more standard Scale Shot Koraidon set, one could even bluff scarf by using Flare Blitz and/or Low Kick. That's all from me, have fun terrorizing the metagame.

Lots of great submissions this time, thanks very much to everyone who contributed!! 7 cores is a bit too much to poll, so after discussing with a trusted anonymous friend who happens to be good at AG, I decided to shortlist 4 cores for polling. Please note that if your core isn't on the list, it doesn't mean your core is "bad" or anything, it just doesn't quite fit the spirit of this project! The main reasoning is your core not being very intuitive or appealing to the casual eye, or maybe it requires extensive metagame knowledge to whip up a squad! Again, that doesn't mean it's bad, it's just that we want beginner-friendly cores!

The cores that will be polled are:
:pmd/Koraidon: + :pmd/Miraidon: by MirrorSaMa
:pmd/Arceus-Ground: + :pmd/Eternatus: by Adhi
:pmd/Ribombee: + :pmd/Glimmora: by Bread Sandwich
:pmd/Koraidon: + :pmd/Koraidon: by Lord Rekkuza

Thanks again for your submissions everyone! The room poll will be up shortly.

The main event is on <t:1744554600:F>! The special guests for this event will be none other than Adhi and Lord Rekkuza! Hope to see everyone in the UM room then ^^

forgot to post this yesterday but oh well

AG CCAT is now over! Here's the team:
:koraidon::koraidon::ting-lu::arceus-fairy::calyrex-shadow::landorus-therian:

Congratulations to Lord Rekkuza and June! Thanks a lot to everyone who contributed in the creation of the team. Participation was quite high this time, and I hope this continues! UUbers submissions will start in a few days.

:sv/mandibuzz: :sv/giratina:
Specially Defensive Mandibuzz paired with the best Pokémon in the tier, Giratina, is one of my favorite cores to use, and one that I use quite often. Mandibuzz, with its access to Defog, takes off the pressure of Giratina to do so. This means that Giratina is free to use all of Wisp, Rest, Hex and phasing move all in one set. Mandibuzz also provides an amazing defense versus Mewtwo, Deoxys and Landorus-Incarnate, meaning that Giratina is quite free to check the other threats such as the various Arceus forms, whether it’s Dragon Dance Poison or Swords Dance Electric, Pokemon Mandibuzz may struggle with checking.

These two sweepers, Spectrier and Kyurem, are two great mons to build around. Spectrier's Grim Neigh allows it to run away with games once it gets a faint or two, and its coverage in draining kiss allows for sustainability and the ability to flip match ups against dark types. As for Kyurem, its ability to boost its speed with both dragon dance and scale shot allows you to quickly outspeed opposing mons. Having both icicle spear and tera blast ground equipped allows you to cover ground weak mons with tera flying. These mons are best used in a team with three other sweepers and an obvious lead such as Grimmsnarl. This allows you to either set up screens/conditions/hazards and then switch to one of these two or get a read on the opponent using a mon to counter your lead and instead drop a sweeper for free turns. The use of the three other sweepers is to make it harder for the opponent to guess which mon you will send out and thus be more likely to get a good match up or set up turn when they switch.

Grimmsnarl + Roaring Moon
In the advent of drops, more Hyper/Offense based structures have been given more tools to work with, and some old ones getting better! Grimmsnarl is a fun new toy as a lead, helping a ton in managing opposing H/O with taunt, and spirit break to slow down Arceus Dark and its biggest lead competition Samurott. The competition between screens and spikes based offense is strong, but Grimmsnarl provides some really unique approaches not just to building since you can focus more on setup and long term game plans, but also really interesting play dynamics, as some recent games have shown. Roaring Moon may not be a newcomer, but as a long term H/O staple (and arguably the best H/O mon period) it only seems to get better as things shift around, with its ability to prey on 3 of the best pokemon in the tier (Giratina, Mewtwo, and Arceus Poison) with its Tera Ground set, which I think would be good to go with here. Its not only easy to use in play but isn't as tera reliant as a Tera Flying or Tera Blast set, and on something like a Grimm Screens team this option to leave more room for choice is very good. Another less important but still notable factor of Tera Ground is a T-Wave Immunity, which has become more and more relevant as time goes on.

H/O may not be everyone's cup of tea, but this is a very intuitive structure that has room for tons of innovation while also being very beginner friendly if you are looking at getting into the tier!

(with help from Frito on the moves since ya girl wanted Specs M2 and Sash Bug LOL)

We got a new friend in Ubers UU, let's greet him kindly. Our new friend is fast, but in a tier like Ubers UU, boosting damage while also being able to go fast can be hard. What if you cheated, though? Enter this godforsaken bug, who sets Sticky Webs to let Mewtwo outspeed tons more things. Not everything, HDB is a thing, but facing a +2 Mewtwo when your Scarfers drop to -1 is... tough. Mewtwo go brrr.

:sv/palafin: + :sv/arceus-ice:
Le blues
This is probably the most fun core i have used in this tier since CB Zac + CB Fin, these two work extremely well together in many ways.
The main idea here is, Palafin struggles with Dragons, namely Giratina, which Arceus Ice destroys beautifully, Arceus Ice's main problem is being able to switch in to click it's terrifying STAB, Palafin's Flip Turn generates momentum for Arceus Ice to do so. There are more, smaller synergies in here, both love hazard removal, Arceus Ice does great into fatter stuff while Palafin deals with offensive threats well, especially Webs, Arceus-Ice doesn't mind a burn while Palafin can take the Arceus ruining Paralysis, Palafin covering for Fires while Arceus Ice covers for Grass types, it goes on and on.
