Purpose of this Team

Well, I made this team on the top of my head, and it was supposed to be for a tournament until I noticed you can't have more than 2 OUs. I decided, even though I knew I couldnt use the team to test it out. I was surprised by the results since I never knew the team would be really a good one. Most of my losses were close 1-0s too.

The Team

094hf1.png

Life Orb, Timid, Levitate, 252 Spe, 252 Sp Atk, 6 HP

Hypnosis
Shadow Ball
Thunderbolt
Focus Blast

My lead and one of my special attackers. Though this Gengar looks like any other standard one, it actually is. All its moves fit my team perfectly. If my opponent starts with a wall, I always use Hypnosis. Shadow Ball destroys any slower, weak Sp Def Pokemon, Thunderbolt makes sure Gyara leads don't mess with me and Focus Blast for any Tyranitar brave enough to stay in and any Weavile trying to switch in. Just an awesome lead, hax always helps me BTW, Hypnosis and Focus Blast barely miss.

217.png

Flame Orb, Adamant, Guts, 228 HP, 252 Atk, 6 Spe, 12 Sp Def, 12 Def

Facade
Earthquake
Fire Punch
Ice Punch

One of my physical attackers. Why Guts over quick feet? Check Bronzong. Split EVs because 228 HP EVs is enough, I may need the 1 extra Speed point to ourun 146 Speed Pokemon and below when Bronzong is not in use. Normal, Fire, Ice and Ground, nothing resists it. Facade gets double power, STAB and Guts Boost which KOs anything non-resistent/immune. (except a few walls with really high defense) Steel types are taken care of with Fire Punch, Rock types with EQ and Ice Punch is for more type coverage.

Leftovers, Relaxed, Levitate, 0 Speed IV, 252 HP, 152 Atk, 8 Def, 96 Sp Def

Trick Room
Stealth Rock/Earthquake
Gyro Ball
Explosion

The 8 Def EVs are just extra. With Relaxed and a 0 Speed IV, this Bronzong hits 33 Speed. Gyro Ball at max power. Stealth Rock gets rid of annoying Focus Sashers, Gyro Ball's power remains even with Trick Room and I explode usually after laying SR and putting up Trick Room to make sure Ursaring/Mamoswine gets in safely. Just tell me if I need to switch out SR for EQ. (Ursaring and Mamo already have it anyway) Flame Orb also makes sure Ursaring can't falls asleep or be paralyzed.

Choice Specs/Life Orb, Timid, Natural Cure, 252 Sp Atk, 252 Spe

Surf
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Hidden Power (Fighting)

Choice Specs Star you ask? This is one of my surprise Pokemon. I usually let it out end-game when my opponent's team is severely weakened to finish off what my other Pokemon started. HP Fighting gets rid of a lot of Starmie counters trying to switch in. (Weavile, Dark Types, Steel Types, Tyranitar at an extent) This Starmie sometimes surprises me when it gets to 2HKO Celebis focusing on defense switch in.

473.png

Leftovers, Adamant, Snow Cloak, 152 HP, 252 Atk, 64 Def, 68 Sp Def

Curse
Ice Shard
Earthquake
Avalanche/Stone Edge

Curse Mamo, my second physical attacker/bulky tank. Whenever I see something Mamoswine can counter easily, I switch it in. In fear of a KO, the opponent switches while I use Curse. If Trick Room is in play, I can Curse until I decide to attack using Ice Shard which has STAB, priority and is boosted by Curse. Mamoswine is my Garchomp and any other Dragon counter since it can kill most dragons (other than Kingdra) in one hit. (Yache ones take two, but I'm guessing they'll stat boost first so Ice Shard still kills them on the 2nd turn. Avalanche is for opponents who deal neutral moves, STAB, double powered avalanche (if the opponent attacks) hurts. It always comes last, so Speed isn't a priority when I use it. I'm thinking of replacing it with Stone Edge though, I may need it since I don't get to use Avalanche very often.

242wm6.png

Leftovers, Calm, Natural Cure, 252 Def, 80 Sp Atk, 176 Sp Def

Wish
Protect
Flamethrower
Toxic

Standard WishBliss. I figured since my weakness afterall are stall/hail/sand teams, I'd be needing Wish Support after an opponent lays SR, Toxic Spikes or Spikes. Politoed used to be my special wall, and its decent at what it does, but I switched it for Bliss since she has more use most of the time.

Substitute/s:

186.png

Leftovers, Calm, Water Absorb, 252 HP, 252 Sp Def, 6 Sp Atk

Perish Song
Toxic
Surf
Ice Beam

The Standard Special Defending Water Pokemon set with Perish Song. Surf and Ice Bea m don't need an explanation, Toxic is for stalling walls ao theyd switch out. Perish Song I can use when an opponent has stat ups like Garchomp and I take an EQ, switch to one of my levitators, then switch to Bronzong. Many opponents underestimate this little frog, but it can actually take a hit from non Choiced physical attackers like Garchomp and fire back with Ice Beam. Once, I was battling a stall team, the Chomp already had 1 SD under its belt, but since it had Brightpowder and there was a Sandstorm, it SDed again and Politoed hit with Ice Beam which saved me.

Strategy of the Team

It's the same basic strategy. Sleep an opponent/kill an opponent with Gengar, switch to appropriate counter, do some damge, set up SR, set up TR, kill things with Mamo and Ursaring, defend with Bliss, finish off the team with Starmie. Rinse, wash, repeat. I've had some luck though, unexpected crits, hax freezes, etc. Some opponents can be surprised by TR, and Starmie is also strangely good with TR teams.

Team Strengths

If you try to overpredict, you'll usually end up being wrong. I sometimes play by being predictable so the opponent gets hurt. Teams which are based more on offence are easier too beat.

Team Weaknesses

Highlight
Stall teams, ugh. T_T Sand Teams are also annoying, since to do my strategy, I have to make sure all team members are healthy. Sand Teams reduce the teams health every turn which is harder since Ursaring is constantly being burned, Starmie has to switch out every so often, Gengar is frail, Mamoswine has a lot of common weaknesses, Politoed doesnt have super great stats, just above average and Bronzong is one of the primary defenses of my team. Well, now that I have Blissey, the stall problem is solved partially.

That's my team...also, Thank you Blue Ace of Serebii for making the awesome Gengar, Bronzong, Blissey and Starmie pics.

This team managed to get me off guard in our battle, I had no toxic spikes set up and mamo was in already, kind of embarrassing. But for the team rate..

I recommend Gengar with a Choice Scarf as lead, with Hidden Power Ice to help you with those Garchomps, I really don't like Life Orb with all the sandstorm going around. You could go Modest nature if you want more power, or just keep Timid if you want the Speed to outspeed pokemon that trouble you. I don't like the Trick Room here, since really only one benefits from it, and it has to set up, which is Mamoswine. Just go regular Bronzong and Mamoswine, i'll give the sets at the end of this rate.

Heracross kind of has fun with this team, since nothing really can switch into it. Gliscor over Politoed would take care of him and other Physical sweepers, such as SD Lucario and CB Ttar, which 2HKO's Bronzong with a CB iirc. If you don't want to use Gliscor, and you can predict right, Bulky Gyarados will work, Intimidates on switch-in, but not a real Counter. I can see this team has problems breaking SkarmBlissCombo. I would honestly replace Ursaring with a Heracross or Lucario, since both can break the combo, although 1 Sword Dance is required on Lucario before attempting to do this.

The sets for Mamo and Bronzong;

Trait: Oblivious / Snow Cloak
EVs: 4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Nature: Adamant
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Peck / Return / Stealth Rock / Light Screen

and

Trait: Levitate / Heatproof
EVs: 252 Hp / 72 Atk / 128 Def / 56 SpDef
Nature: Brave / Relaxed
- Hypnosis
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Explosion / Reflect / Light Screen

Hope I helped.

Thanks for the advice Venom, I now Uuse a CSGar. On TR though, it ctually benefits 4/6 members. Zong, Ursaring, Mamo and Blissey and I can use any one of them when the need arises. Ursaring can really kill almost half a team when TR is active then kill one more member then sacrifice itself. Bliss can rely on TR when she needs to Wish pass to a very low HP team member, Mamo is fairly obvious though and Zong can Gyro Ball fast opponentlike Vile before they can hit back.

I choose not to replace the otther team members since they IMO help each other greatly. I think I can deal fairly well with SkarmBliss if I predict right.

Hera is a problem Ive seen, but when I know what type of Hera it is, hopefully I can get rid of it with the appropriate team member. TY for the rate.

Sry to everyone for badf spelling and typos, Im using a bad keyboard, not mine.

its kinda hard to read, but ive found that gengar works well with hp ice over shadow ball. people seem to always assume that he has shadow ball. on many separate occasions, ive killed three guys in a row because other guys assume assume that i have shadowball. also, this team seems really weavile weak, because after a SD, it can OHKO all but bronzong, and revenge killing with gengar is all you can do, but that will only work 70 % of the time with focus blast.

Well, I forgot to edit, the Gengar has HP Ice instead of FB. Anyway, with most Weaviles, I usually just use Hypnosis on them. (Since most are leads)

If not, Bronzong can come in and Gyro Ball for the OHKO. Usually though, Bronzong is out early in the match which means opposing Weaviles won't dare switch in.
