Underdog Blitz (featuring Kanto Starters)

Hello, I have laddered many times with this, and it has won me very many battles, due to everybody's expectation to be secure by being able to counter all of the OU tier. This team consists of all UU pokemon, even though it is built to be against standard teams.

Charizard (M) @ Salac Berry
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Belly Drum
- Substitute
- Fire Punch
- Thunderpunch

This lead suprises many people on the standard ladder, because they rarely see a charizard lead, or any other NU lead. This set requires a bit of psychological warfare and luck. this ev spread outspeeds Roserade, so sub while he tries to sleep powder/toxic spike you. Then proceed to Belly drum when it's leafstorm/hp fire takes 2 hits to break your sub. When Azelf, Metagross, Heatran, Tyranitar, Gliscor, Aerodactyl, Infernape, and Jirachi use stealth rock expecting you to switch, you sub and the belly drum, proceeding to sweep. This set has trouble with Swampert, as it can roar, and fire punch can 2hko at best.

Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/252 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Hidden Power [Fire]/Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Shadow Ball

This team was originally made when Cress and Porygonz were moved down to UU, and I meant to abuse Cress and PorygonZ so people would realize that Cresselia and Porygonz in UU were indeed, overpowered. This set is basic. Switch in on something that doesn't like Cresselia, sub on the switch in, and then calm mind up. Hp fighting because it can 2hko ttar after 1 CM and Scizor after 2 CM. I am considering on changing HP Fighting to HP Fire, so i have a better check for Scizor and Jirachi.

porygonZ.png

Porygonz @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Tri Attack
- Thunderbolt
- Dark Pulse

Choice Scarf PorygonZ. This set is meant to take out any ddancers out there, and to take out the pesky Rotoms in the OU metagame. This is also on of my Latias checks, being able to survive a Draco meteor without stealth rocks and 2hkoing Latias. This is risky, but after doing at least 1 ice beam, Latias can easily picked out with Hitmontop or Blastoise.

Hitmontop (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/6 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- Mach Punch
- Sucker Punch
- Close Combat

Technitop, my revenge killer. This baby comes in after something dies, fake out to do some initial damage, and tries to Sucker punch/Mach punch to finish off if Fake Out didn't do the job. Close combat is there for Blissey and Ttar, and is also a way of taking out Scizor. Mach punch also helps me take out Heatran and Magnezone.

blastoise1.jpg

Blastoise (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

I was hellbent on using the 3 kanto starters, so i picked Blastoise over Azumarill. This actually works wonders, because Blastoise has enough bulk so take a nonboosted outrage from salamence, and OHKO back with ice punch. Earthquake for steels, Aqua Jet and Waterfall for STAB on pokes like Heatran, Infernape, and Tyranitar.

venusaur.jpg

Venusaur (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs:4 Hp/ 252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Sleep Powder
- Power Whip
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance

Venusaur is my hero.Venusaur can absorb toxic spikes, put things to sleep, whip things up, shake the earth, dance, dance with swords, overgrow, hold an orb of life, AND be jolly all at the same time. I mean, with this much talent, who wouldn't want Venusaur? In all seriousness, Venusaur completes my Kanto trio, while doing much to support this team. A mid-game sweeper, I usually send this in after the death of Charizard. This set outspeeds nonscarfed Heatran, and ohko's with EQ. He can also take out Rotoms either when overgrow comes into effect, or when Venusaur has an SD up. or both. Venusaur also is my main check for the bulky waters, as it is immune to the ever so common Toxic, and can OHKO most of them back after 1 SD.

Rate/Hate/Steal!

for the record, you can run this team in UU and it would serve much better there because of the lower speed

your charizard leads gets raped by faster leads since most of them use taunt, meaning your setting up will never show up. Also, since SR is huge in OU, charizard is raped when he switches in.

cressy serves well as a sponge but that's about it. You're running CM cressy which is what i used to run when i used cressy, it's a good set no doubt, but it just still needs to use 2 CM's before actually having respectable SP. ATK for OU standards and by that time, the opponent could've sent out t-tar or weavile, forcing you to switch.

porygon-z is fine, there's really nothing you can do about it. standard set, nothing special

hitmontop does not have rapid spin, very bad for you team, he should have rapid spin over close combat, without rapid spin, charizard is basically useless. hitmontop can work, i've seen it done before (he's one of the best UU/NU pokes in OU) but they always carry rapid spin, his resistance to SR makes him an appealing spinner, use that to your advantage

blastoise set doesn't seem too bad, only problem is that it actually doesn't deal that much damage, especially in OU standards, he also doesn't have the bulk for OU to constantly switch out, nor the speed to be a revenge killer, empoleon actually can run the same set and do it a lot better because of his typing

venasuar is alright, he's not that fast though, nor is he really bulky enough to live that long in OU play, and you say midgame play when you run a bellyzard as your lead (which is basically a suicide lead), so basically he's going to end up being early game more often than not

your team is not bad, it's just not up entirely to OU standards. yes it will catch players by surprise but good players will adjust and outpredict your team. The pokes aren't used much in OU for reasons and trying to make an entirely non-OU team in OU play is very gimmicky.

Charizard is basically a suicide lead, so putting rapid spin on hitmontop only takes a way of taking out scizor.

Cress is the bulkiest pokemon in UU, and i'm aiming for an all UU team. This may be a sponge, but being able to ohko a weavile while being able to survive is a plus, and i have hitmontop, blastoise and venusaur to finish ttar off.

Venusaur doesnt long enough, true, but it usually gets it's job done by putting the heatran switch in to sleep, and dealing enough damage to ensure a win.

This is indeed, a gimmick and a joke team, but after using this for a long time, its a rather effective joke team. Not to brag or anything, but this team actually caught gouki off guard and defeated him that other day.
