Underused Trickroom team;
Ok, I'm new here, and I'm new to competitive battling, so i wanted to set up a team myself, and i decided upon setting up a trick room team for the underused tier.
One thing I'm unsure of is whether or not i should use spikes or trick room as my lead, or drop a Pokemon to get a lead that uses both, I'm also concerned about my lack of a ghost type to avoid rapid spinner, which could be a problem with leech seed and spikes both being used.
Also, being new to competitive battling, I haven't really been able to consider counters too much, so any help as to who would counter this team, and how to stop them would be great.
Without further ado, here it is:
---
Omastar (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/6 SDef
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Spikes
- Surf
- Sleep Talk
- Rest
Omastar is my basic spike supporter, rest and sleeptalk keep him up long enough to get spikes done, with surf as a solid stab move as well as a type my team lacks.
---
Exeggutor (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP/252 SAtk/6 SDef
Quiet nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Leaf Storm
- Explosion
- Leech Seed
- Trick Room
Exeggutor is a supporter with trick room and leech seed, as well as hitting very heavily with leaf storm, leech seed helps with keeping the team alive, and trick room for obvious reasons, it being the point of the team, explosion is there as a last resort attack to finish with a bang.
---
Muk (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Sticky Hold
EVs: 176 HP/254 Atk/80 SDef
Brave nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Curse
- Poison Jab
- Thunderpunch
- Shadow Punch
Muk is a good wallish attacker, curse builds upon this raising defense and attack, as well as trick room support effectively reversing the speed loss , making him dangerous, poison jab for stab, and the other two for coverage, shadow punch replaces shadow sneak or payback due to trick room support
---
Porygon2 @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP/120 Def/136 SAtk
Quiet nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Trick Room
- Recover
- Tri Attack
- Charge Beam
Sturdy trick room support/wall, recover helps his walling, and has synergy with charge beam powering up his tri-attack, the longer he stays in, the more charge beams he can get up
---
Hariyama (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/6 Def
Brave nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch
A pretty standard choice band attacker, hariyama suits the team well, great hp and attack combined with low speed, close combat for attack, lack of payback due to trick room covering his speed lack, so i can fit in 2 element punches with stone edge
---
Glaceon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 HP/6 Atk/252 SAtk
Quiet nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Wish
- Ice Beam
- Fake Tears
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
Not too much to say about glaceon, I took the standard fake tears set, wish support for healing allies seeing as only porygon2 has a healing move, fake tears can cause switches with spikes up, otherwise it allows her destroy them, note that due to 0 speed IVs, hidden power is only 64 attack not 70, but that shouldnt be much of a problem
---
so, how did i go on my first competitive team? did i nail it, get close, or did i miss by a long shot?
