Ages ago, back when the Balanced Hackmons for generation 7 still had a player base, I decided to do some trolling on the ladder with a team composed of mostly Unowns. And to the surprise of absolutely no one, the team legitimately worked on ladder for some reason. Totally because Unown is the most broken pokemon ever created by game freak. Here's the pokepaste for the unteam: https://pokepast.es/a7b5b98bafe49e49.
Even with the most powerful pokemon in the game you generally need some support options. And while Unown is one offensive powerhouse it's the support role isn't its strongest suit. So that's where Ditto comes in, it sets Stealth Rocks to break focus Sash and can sleep certain pokemon that can be a threat to the offensive core of the team. Additionally, Quick Powder makes it self Imposter-proof since it will always outspeed Imposter Chansey/Blissey Imposter because Imposter won't have quick powder. From there I can just click Taunt to shut them down. It can also pull a surprise Destiny bond which can help towards clutching games.
Unown @ Focus Sash
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Shell Smash
- Stored Power
- Spore
The first Unown on the team possesses Prankster Taunt in tandem with Spore and Shell Smash so it can shut down a lot of counterplay against the almighty Unown such as Prankster Haze. After two Shell Smash boosts Unown's Stored Power becomes incredibly deadly, cleanly OHKOing most Aegislash and two hit koing most Registeel and Chansey.
Unown @ Focus Sash
Ability: Simple
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Shell Smash
- Power Trip
- Stored Power
- Focus Blast/V-Create
The following team member is a Simple variant of Unown. It's a pretty straightforward Shell Smash set. Just find an opportunity to click Shell Smash and watch the chaos ensue as the opponent has to contend with +4 in Special, Speed, and physical stats. Stored Power hits incredibly hard even being able to take down some of the strongest special walls in the tier such as Fur Coat Chansey. Power Trip is the secondary move used to hit Steel Types like Registeel and Aegislash, 1 hit KOing them respectively. For the last move, Focus Blast or V-Create are generally best. V-Create destroys Magearna which can give this mon some trouble, while Focus Blast removes Tyranitar which is another threat to the rest of the team.
Unown @ Focus Sash
Ability: Dazzling
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Shell Smash
- Power Trip
- Stored Power
- SporeThis is just a fairly straightforward Dazzling Shell Smash set. Spore is used to create an opening for Shell Smash Boosts and Dazzling stops priority, another common Unown check. Power Trip is again used to help take out special walls such as Registeel, Dialga,Chansey, etc . . .
Unown @ Focus Sash
Ability: Dazzling
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Shell Smash
- Power Trip
- Stored Power
- Spore
See the description one space above.
Unown @ Focus Sash
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shell Smash
- Destiny Bond
- Stored Power
- Spore
Another Prankster Unown, except that it has Destiny Bond, to take out threats that somehow get out of control otherwise. Other than that it's pretty much the same as the first set on the team. Spore to cripple pokemon and Shell Smash and Stored Power to sweep. I originally had this set as Choice Scarf Imposter, but I decided against it later since Unown really is at its best when it's leveraging its offensive prowess.

Ladder Peak :
I successfully got into the mid-1500s which was easily in the top 200 at the time ( not 100% sure, but I think that's right). Unfortunately, I don't have a screenshot but you can see in one of my replays the Elo I gathered.
