Untitled Team

This is my first RMT, this team is based around Magmortar, therefore the team has pokémons that help Magmortar or appreciate Pokémons that Magmortar easily kills gone. I used this team on some non-ladder matches and laddered until getting 15 wins, the record is 15-3. I now know the threats to this team so I think I used this team enough for RMT.

Magmortar (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Vital Spirit
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Def
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]

The star of the team. Magmortar's great wallbreaking ability is what made me consider it when building this team. Magmortar can OHKO or 2HKO common switch in even with little or no prior damage. Magmortar's speed is disappointing as it gets easily revenge-killed/forced out once Magmortar kills something. But based on my experience, it's almost impossible for the enemy to NOT lose a Pokémon against Magmortar. So Magmortar is pretty consistent at its job and rarely underperforms. The moves are pretty self-explanatory and don't need explanation.

160.png

Feraligatr (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 92 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Return
- Swords Dance

IT'S GATR TIME!!! Feraligatr is the sweeper of the team, I send it in once Magmortar killed bulky Pokémons that trouble Feraligatr or if I need Aqua Jet badly. Feraligatr also screws the too predictable Aerodactyl lead, how's that for early momentum grabbing? This set is very easy to use, once bulky Grass mons are gone, just click Swords Dance and wreck the opposition. Waterfall for reliable STAB, Aqua Jet for the much needed Priority and Return to smack Pokémons that resist water bar Ferroseed and the rare Frillish.

621.png

Amoonguss (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 52 SAtk / 116 SDef
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Spore

Amoonguss is my favorite RU Pokémon and for good reason. Amoonguss is the glue of the team and is a very reliable switch in to multitude of threats. It will then fire Spore unless the enemy has Sap Sippers or Sleep Immune Pokémons. Clear Smog is to stop set-up sweepers, Giga Drain for reliability and HP Fire for Escavaliers and Durants looking for a free switch in.

485.png

Uxie @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 104 Spd
Bold Nature
- Psychic
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave

Uxie lays SR reliably, it is usually my lead unless I can see leads that prevents Uxie from doing its job, like Aerodactyl. After laying SR, it usually uses U-Turn to switch out and possibly grab momentum. Later in the game, Uxie is a reliable switch in to Physical Pokémons to give Amoonguss some breathing room. Psychic is used to give Uxie a legitimate damage output, U-Turn is used on Pokémons it scares or locked in a wrong move and Thunder Wave is a great way to spread paralysis so Feraligatr won't rely on Aqua Jet when dealing with fast Pokémons.

447.png

Spiritomb (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 248 HP / 8 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Sneak
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Trick

This is a pretty straightforward Pokémon. Spiritomb is the teams trapper and another priority abuser. I also use Spiritomb as a lead if I predict the enemy is going to use lead Uxie. Shadow Sneak for priority, it's also a really good move for lategame cleaning once Feraligatr faints, Sucker Punch is rarely used but it helps in some occasions. Pursuit for trapping and Trick for crippling a Pokémon and also makes Spiritomb a good "Trick Absorber".

107.png

Hitmonchan (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- ThunderPunch
- Rapid Spin

Hitmonchan is the teams resident Fighting type and Spinner. Hitmonchan is considered a poor spinner due to its inability to touch Ghost types, but a Fight type with spin is really needed, so Hitmonchan is here. Hitmonchan isn't really a bad Pokémon anyway, with an ability that allows it to hit harder with coverage and the rare Mach Punch. Drain Punch for STAB, Mach Punch for yet another priority and solves speed issues, ThunderPunch for coverage and Rapid Spin, the only reason why I use Hitmonchan over other Fighting types.

Threathlist:

Druddigon - This thing hits hard and is hard to take down, and it's unpredictable too. I usually lead with Amoonguss to spore the common lead set. If it gets to Outrage, Spiritomb will Sucker Punch which is a clean 2HKO(Spiritomb is OHKO'd by CBand set). If Spiritomb dies, Feraligatr finishes it off, luckily, Druddigon has only one chance to screw my team. And they usually do it early, so it's a waste(on their part).

Tangrowth - Tangrowth is a Pokémon that walls half of my team but is easily defeated by the other half. But what makes Tangrowth such a threat is because of Sleep Powder and godly attacking stats which means my Pokémons are hard pressed to switch in, even Magmortar, which risks OHKO(after SR) with HP Rock, and the uncommon EQ(which can OHKO with enough investment). The best way to deal with Tangrowth is for Uxie to U-turn to Magmortar for a safe switch in.

Accelgor - Accelgor is a strong threat against this team, with very high speed and HP Rock to hit Magmortar SE. The best way to deal with this is with Hitmonchan, Hitmonchan will lose but Accelgor is easily picked off by a priority move. The lead set is not that threathening because Uxie can TWave it, but it's guaranteed to get at least one layer of spikes.

Sigilyph - Sigilyph's offensive sets can do damage to the team, but unlike Accelgor, Sigilyph is easily checked by Spritiomb and the Cosmic Power set just do horrible against this team.

Altaria - Much like Drudiggon, but it doesn't hit as hard. Access to recovery moves makes it really hard to take down.

Escavalier - Escavalier can come in on Uxie(bar U-Turn), Spiritomb and Hitmonchan, and proceed to deal massive damage but it's more often than not lured by Amoonguss.

Durant - Pretty much like Escavalier but has harder time switching in but is more dangerous, but then again, it's often lured by Amoonguss.

Aggron - Aggron is one of the most feared CBand user in the tier, however it can only come in against Uxie(again, U-Turn) and Spiritomb. Luckily, most people don't switch Aggron on Spiritomb in fear of Will-O-Wisp, but once they found out it is a CBand set, Spiritomb becomes a liability on the team. So I will have to sacrifice a Pokémon to get a switch in safely. Same goes for SubPunch and Rock Polish set.

There are some Pokémons I might place but haven't faced them enough times yet(like Rotom).

Conclusion:

I think this is a pretty solid team, however there are few things I like to improve such as getting a better spinner. Also, I'm not that good at doing this stuff, there might be some parts that are a bit hard to understand. I don't have replays either, except for that one match that forfeited on Turn 1.

Hi, so I noticed that two big threats to your team are extremely weak to ice, so I have a suggestion that could patch that up for you:

Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

The dragon dance set will mitigate your issue with dragons, while also giving you a late game cleaner with much better coverage. Your team is pretty slow right now, so this will also help you with that.

To help with your Durant/Escavalier/Aggron/Tangrowth problem, I recommend the following Emboar set in place of Hitmonchan, as your team isn't really all that weak to hazards (only one rock weakness and Amoonguss absorbs toxic spikes).

Emboar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Superpower
- Flare Blitz
- Wild Charge
- Sleep Talk

It beats all of the mons you listed 1v1 with the exception of Tangrowth, but it can absorb its sleep powder for your team. You also desperately need a scarfed mon on your team to revenge kill dangerous threats that were allowed to set up.

Overall this is a pretty solid team, best of luck!

Emboar is a Pokémon I never considered when buliding this team, and I think it will do wonders to this team, I'll definitely try that. I never really had issues with set-up mons, but I found using Hitmonchan only for Mach Punch in some matches(not even getting to spin). I think this is a very good replacement.

I'll miss GATR Time, and screwing lead Aerodactyls(Spiritomb can still do this too) but it is indeed a solid check to them dragons, I'll try that too.

Hello, nice team ya got there. :D

Well anyway, let's get down to business here. atomicllamas had some good points, specifically about the Scarf Emboar and the DD Feraligatr. Making those changes will really benefit your team.
In other words, I agree with atomicllamas' suggested changes.

Well, time to make a suggestion of my own. I suggest replacing Uxie with Mesprit. This will give you a more offensive Stealth Rock setter that can abuse moves like Psychic and Ice Beam while still supporting the team with SR and T-Wave/U-Turn. Here is the set:

Mesprit @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam / Thunderbolt
- Psychic
- U-Turn / Thunder Wave

This will help you with Pokémon like Druddigon, Altaria, and Tangrowth. Feraligatr can hit the dragon duo with Ice Punch, but it doesn't hit Tangrowth hard enough, hence why Ice Beam is there. Or, if you feel like you don't need Ice Beam, you can run Thunderbolt to deal with Water types or a support move.

Well anyway, good luck with the team, I hope I helped! :D

Hiya, I agree with atomicllamas' rate on the Emboar part. The thing is, this way you have two fire type's so I would change Magmortar to special Sceptile. This would form a very nice offensive FWG core. I really do not like Spiritomb, change it to Choice Banded Escavelier, it is a HUGE threat and would compliment your team nicely.

I will definitely use Mesprit, I find Uxie lacking in firepower, but I'll tweak the EV spread a bit.

ApplepieFTW
Sceptile lacks the sheer power that Magmortar has, maybe on Amoonguss but not Magmortar. Sceptile would also give me more speed and a reliable second win condition if Feraligatr faints.

About Escavalier.... I can see that you are suggesting an arguably more reliable trapper and CBander in general, but based on my experience, one of the teams main downfall is the lack of speed. As much as I would like to use dat Megahorn, I think it will only give my team overkill power. The reason why I use Spiritomb is because of (reliable) priority and trapping in one set.

Thanks for all the suggestion guys, they really help.
