Doubles Ursaluna Bloodmoon (GP 1/1) (QC 2/2)

MPL Champion
[OVERVIEW]
Ursaluna-B utilizes its extremely high special wallbreaking power to power through DOU. It is a threatening force due to few Pokemon in the tier resisting its STAB combination with the help of Mind's Eye, and it fits on both Trick Room and Tailwind-centric teams. Pokemon that would normally Terastallize into Ghost-types to be immune to its Normal-type STAB moves, such as Incineroar, Chien-Pao, and opposing Ursaluna-B, no longer have this option, allowing Ursaluna-B to fire off strong STAB moves like Blood Moon and Hyper Voice against foes for neutral damage. Ursaluna-B uses Earth Power to hit foes like Incineroar, Kingambit, Diancie, Iron Hands, and Gholdengo super effectively. Additionally, it has phenomenal natural bulk, often boosted by Assault Vest. However, Ursaluna-B frequently struggles against defining Pokemon like Ogerpon-W, Chien-Pao, and its brethren Ursaluna due to type matchups and its Speed tier.

[SET]
Assault Vest (Ursaluna-Bloodmoon) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Mind's Eye
Tera Type: Ghost / Fairy / Normal
EVs: 108 HP / 252 SpA / 148 Spe OR 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest / Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 31 Spe OR 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Blood Moon
- Hyper Voice
- Earth Power
- Vacuum Wave

[SET COMMENTS]
- Assault Vest allows Ursaluna-B to enhance its immense natural bulk and improve matchups against faster special attackers like Gholdengo, Chi-Yu, and Landorus.
- Vacuum Wave priority allows Ursaluna-B to pick off Pokemon that commonly run Focus Sash like Chi-Yu, Tornadus, and Chien-Pao, threatening an OHKO on the latter after any Stealth Rock or Fake Out chip damage. Vacuum Wave also allows Ursaluna-B to maneuver around Sucker Punch users like Chien-Pao and Kingambit, which it 2HKOes.
- The best Tera types for Assault Vest Ursaluna-B are Ghost, Fairy, and Normal. Tera Ghost provides an important Fake Out and Fighting immunity, while Fairy is a strong defensive option for teams that may be weak to Chien-Pao and other Dark-types. Tera Normal boosts its already strong STAB moves, allowing it to OHKO Sinistcha, Ogerpon-W, and Dragonite after Stealth Rock chip damage.
- Sinistcha is a natural partner, providing healing and redirection for attacks that would threaten Ursaluna-B, such as Iron Hands's Fighting-type moves and Ogerpon-W's STAB moves after Terastallization.
- Ogerpon-W is a common partner due to its ability to redirect opposing attacks and its Water immunity.
- Speed control is a necessity with Ursaluna-B due to its low Speed tier. Pokemon like Sinistcha and Tornadus provide Trick Room or Tailwind to help its offensive pressure.
- The first EV spread allows Ursaluna-B to outspeed Tornadus and the Ogerpon formes in Tailwind. 100 HP EVs with the help of Assault Vest allow it to survive +2 Make It Rain from Gholdengo, Overheat from Modest Chi-Yu, and Icicle Crash from Adamant Chien-Pao.
- On more Trick Room-dominant teams, Ursaluna-B can opt to run no Speed EVs and invest fully in its HP.

Life Orb (Ursaluna-Bloodmoon) @ Life Orb

Modest / Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 31 Spe OR 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Blood Moon
- Earth Power
- Hyper Voice
- Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
- Life Orb boosts Ursaluna-B's already immense wallbreaking power, allowing it to pick up KOs on Pokemon it would normally be shy of OHKOing such as Landorus and Gholdengo.
- Protect provides Ursaluna-B with a way to stall out remaining Tailwind or Trick Room turns, which can be crucial for momentum and offensive pressure.
- Tera Normal is the premier choice for Life Orb Ursaluna-B, boosting STAB attacks for more damage and removing weaknesses to Ice, Water, and Grass; however, it keeps its weakness to Fighting, making it vulnerable to foes like Iron Hands.
- Tera Ghost provides an important Fake Out and Fighting immunity but makes Ursaluna-B weaker to common threats like Chien-Pao and Chi-Yu and reduces overall damage output compared to Tera Normal. Tera Ghost is also beneficial because common threats like Iron Hands, Diancie, and Ursaluna can underspeed Ursaluna-B in Trick Room, so it benefits from an immunity to Fighting- and Normal-type moves from these Pokemon.
- Speed control is a necessity due to its low Speed. Pokemon like Sinistcha, Diancie, and Cresselia provide Trick Room, and Roaring Moon and Tornadus set Tailwind to help Ursaluna-B's offensive pressure.
- The first EV spread allows Ursaluna-B to outspeed both the Ogerpon formes and Tornadus in Tailwind, as well as survive an Adamant Icicle Crash from Chien-Pao and Heat Wave from Modest Tera Fire Chi-Yu.
- No Speed investment allows Ursaluna-B to underspeed most common threats in the tier and should be run on Trick Room sets. However, Iron Hands, Diancie, and Ursaluna can underspeed it in Trick Room.

====

**Gholdengo**: Gholdengo is a premier threat to Ursaluna-B due to its high power and Make It Rain, hitting its lower Special Defense stat.

**Ogerpon-W**: Ogerpon-W's strong STAB attacks can prove troublesome, and its ability to Terastallize and receive a +1 Special Defense boost reduces Ursaluna-B's effectiveness in damaging it.

**Chien-Pao**: Chien-Pao reduces Ursaluna-B's defensive capabilities due to Sword of Ruin, fires off super effective Ice-type STAB attacks, and punishes Tera Ghost with Dark-type attacks.

**Chi-Yu**: Chi-Yu reduces Ursaluna-B's defensive capabilities due to Beads of Ruin, hitting it with strong Fire-type STAB attacks and allowing partners like Gholdengo and Tornadus to hit it for more damage.

Ursaluna-Bloodmoon utilizes its extremely high specially offensive breaking power and fantastic STAB combination to monster Monster? did you mean poweer through? through DOU. Fitting on both Trick Room and Tailwind-centric teams, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon is a threatening force in the metagame. This Pokemon has very few resistances in the tier with the help of Mind's Eye, Ursaluna-Bloodmon's signature ability. Combine and shorten these sentences to flow better Pokemon that would normally Terastallize into Ghost-type to be immune to its Normal type STAB no longer have this option, allowing Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to fire off strong STAB moves like Blood Moon and Hyper Voice into foes for neutral damage. Additionally, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon has phenomenal natural bulk, often boosted by Assault Vest. The given spread is a little over the speed jump point, hitting 179 speed rather than 177. The spread is meant to hit that point and dumpstat hp for simplicity. Also recommend adding tera normal to the tera type list since it is very commonly used to increase offensive output and drops most of its weaknesses anyways.

[SET COMMENTS]
- Assault Vest allows Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to enhance its immense natural bulk and improve matchups into faster Special Attacking threats like Gholdengo, Chi-Yu, and Sinistcha. Replace sini with one of the genies since you explicitly say threats
- Blood Moon, Earth Power, and Hyper Voice together create a strong STAB core of attacks that allow Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to stay present on the field and fire off attacks versus most of the tier. Perhaps mention Bloodmoon's ability to pick up strong neutral on KOes despite not having any boosting items, it's really what sets it apart as an assault vest user, having the ability to wall break without compromising its ability to run a defensive item.
- Earth Power lets Ursaluna-Bloodmoon hit Pokemon that resist Normal Type Attacks, such as Gholdengo Same comment as with the life orb paste, mention hitting Iron hands, incineroar, Chi Yu especially hard and add Kingambit and Diance to the list of normal resists
- Vacuum Wave priority allows Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to pick off low hp Pokemon and Pokemon that commonly abuse Focus Sash like Chi-Yu, Tornadus, and Chien Pao . Consider mentioning how it 2hkoes Kingambit and outpaces its sucker punch and Koes pao with any rocks/fake out chip. Generally I feel Vacc Wave's ability to beat down the sucker users (especially) pao is a massive selling point of this set and should be mentioned more explicitly
- The best Tera Types on Assault Vest Ursaluna-Bloodmoon are Ghost and Fairy. Ghost provides important Fake Out and Fighting Type immunity, while Fairy is a strong defensive option for teams that may be weak to Chien Pao and other Dark Types. Recommend adding tera normal to the list
- Assault Vest Ursaluna-Bloodmoon appreciates partners that can assist with healing like Sinistcha and Rillaboom.
- Ogerpon-W is a common partner for Ursaluna-Bloodmoon due to its ability to redirect opposing attacks and for Water Type immunity.
- Incineroar is commonly paired with Ursaluna-Bloodmoon for Intimidate and Fake Out support. Damage mitigation adds to Ursaluna-Bloodmon's bulk, making it harder to defeat. Very generic line on incineroar that applies to most pokemon in the game and doesn't really mention any special appreciation on Bloodmoon's end, especially with a set like this that is already bulky enough to take most hits very well and only really wants speed control support. In general the lines on synergystic pokemon here are a bit generic and could use expanding (you could probably give sinistcha a whole line since it gives healing, speed control, redirects iron hands and beats down wellspring for it while Vacuum wave lets BM hit pao for it and EP whacks incin/chi yu, for example.
- Speed control is a necessity with Ursaluna-Bloodmoon due to its slow Speed tier. Pokemon like Sinistcha or Tornadus provide Trick Room or Tailwind to help Ursaluna-Bloodmoon's offensive board pressure.
- This EV spread allows Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to outspeed Tornadus and Ogerpon in Tailwind. 100 HP investment with the help of Assault Vest allows Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to survive +2 Make It Rain from Gholdengo, Overheat from Modest Chi-Yu, and Icicle Crash from Timid Adamant Chien-Pao.

- Life Orb boosts Ursaluna-Bloodmoon's already immense breaking power ", allowing it to pick up KOs on pokemon it would normally be shy of OHKOing such as Landorus and Gholdengo" or a similar addition. Convey the purpose of running life orb over assault vest more clearly., pairing high base power moves with a mighty Special Attack Stat.
- Blood Moon, Earth Power, and Hyper Voice together create a strong STAB core of attacks that allow Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to stay present on the field and fire off attacks versus most of the tier. You specifically bring up earth power in the next line so I recommend removing its mention here and focusing on emphasizing the raw strength of Bloodmoon and Hyper Voice in conjunction with Mind's eye. Include a few mentions of common pokemon you OHKO like Lando-I or even expand the calcs into a second bullet point, these are important to have in an analysis.
- Earth Power lets Ursaluna-Bloodmoon hit Pokemon that resist Normal Type Attacks, such as Gholdengo, Kingambit and Diancie.
- Protect provides Ursaluna-Bloodmoon a way to stall out remaining Tailwind or Trick Room turns, which can be crucial for momentum and offensive pressure.
- Normal Tera Type is the premier choice for Life Orb Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, boosting STAB attacks for more damage and dropping weaknesses to ice, water and grass, but keeps weakness to Fighting Types like Iron Hands.
- Ghost Tera Type provides important Fake Out and Fighting Type immunity, but makes Ursaluna-Bloodmoon weaker to common threats like Chien-Pao or Chi-Yu and reduces overall damage output compared to tera normal. Tera Ghost is also beneficial because common threats like Iron Hands, Diancie, and Ursaluna can under speed Ursaluna-Bloodmoon in Trick Room and Ghost Tera Type creates immunity to Fighting and Normal moves from these Pokemon.
- Speed control is a necessity with Ursaluna-Bloodmoon due to its slow Speed tier. Pokemon like Sinistcha, Diancie, or Cresselia provide Trick Room to help Ursaluna-Bloodmoon's offensive board pressure.

Is this the only way we want to run LOrb Ursa? I feel like the TW version of it has about as much value as the TR version and is an otherwise identical set.

If the ruin pokemon are on the field they are reducing the defensive stats (barring something silly like neutralizing gas), so you can just say reduces I think.

I think we can pretty realistically cut points 2 and 3 on both set descriptions - you cover the normal-type moves well in the overview and focusing on the differences on items, teras, and teammates is where I want this to be. Maybe you can cover earth power's targets very briefly in the overview? RE: the options for speed/hp investment etc on both sets, we should be able to do an OR for the spreads. good stuff, 2/2

Pokemon that would normally Terastallize into Ghost-type to be immune to its Normal type STAB no longer have this option, allowing Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to fire off strong STAB moves like Blood Moon and Hyper Voice into foes for neutral damage. Additionally, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon has phenomenal natural bulk, often boosted by Assault Vest. However, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon frequently struggles into defining Pokemon of the tier like Ogerpon-W, Chien-Pao, and its brethren Ursaluna due to type matchups and its Speed tier.

IVs: 0 Atk

[SET COMMENTS]
- Assault Vest allows Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to enhance its immense natural bulk and improve matchups into faster Special Attacking threats like Gholdengo, Chi-Yu, and Landorus.
- Blood Moon and Hyper Voice together create a strong STAB core of attacks that allow Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to stay present on the field and fire off attacks and threatening OHKOs versus most of the tier with neutral damage while maintaining the ability to run a defensive item.
- Earth Power lets Ursaluna-Bloodmoon hit Pokemon that resist Normal Type Attacks, such as Gholdengo, Kingambit, and Diancie and threaten super-effective damage on Iron Hands, Chi-Yu, and Incineroar.

- Vacuum Wave priority allows Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to pick off Pokemon that commonly abuse Focus Sash like Chi-Yu, Tornadus, and Chien Pao, threatening a OHKO on Chien Pao after any Stealth Rock or Fake Out chip from allies. Vacuum Wave also allows Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to maneuver around Sucker Punch users like Chien Pao and Kingambit, and 2HKOes Kingambit.
- The best Tera Types on Assault Vest Ursaluna-Bloodmoon are Ghost, Fairy, and Normal. Ghost provides important Fake Out and Fighting Type immunity, while Fairy is a strong defensive option for teams that may be weak to Chien Pao and other Dark Types. Normal boosts already strong STAB damage, allowing it to OHKO Sinistcha, Ogerpon-W, and Dragonite after Stealth Rock chip.
- Sinistcha is a natural partner for Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, providing healing and redirection. Sinistcha helps to redirect attacks that would threaten Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, such as Fighting Type moves from Iron Hands and Ogerpon Wellspring's STAB moves after Terastralization.
- Ogerpon-W is a common partner for Ursaluna-Bloodmoon due to its ability to redirect opposing attacks and for Water Type immunity.
100 HP investment with the help of Assault Vest allows Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to survive +2 Make It Rain from Gholdengo, Overheat from Modest Chi-Yu, and Icicle Crash from Adamant Chien-Pao.
- On more Trick Room dominant teams, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon can opt to run less speed investment and invest fully in its bulk. Should specify where said bulk goes. Maybe also mention that it probably wants to go to 0iv? If you feel like you can fit it.

Tera Type: Normal/Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Blood Moon
- Earth Power
- Hyper Voice
- Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
- Life Orb boosts Ursaluna-Bloodmoon's already immense breaking power, , double comma here allowing it to pick up KOs on pokemon it would normally be shy of OHKOing such as Landorus and Gholdengo, pairing high base power moves with a mighty Special Attack Stat.

- Protect provides Ursaluna-Bloodmoon a way to stall out remaining Tailwind or Trick Room turns, which can be crucial for momentum and offensive pressure.
- Normal Tera Type is the premier choice for Life Orb Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, boosting STAB attacks for more damage and removing weaknesses to Ice, Water, and Grass, but keeps weakness to Fighting Types like Iron Hands.
- 0 Speed Investment allows Ursaluna-Bloodmoon to under speed most common threats in the tier. However, Iron Hands, Diancie, and Ursaluna can under speed Ursaluna-Bloodmoon in Trick Room.

Is this the only way we want to run LOrb Ursa? I feel like the TW version of it has about as much value as the TR version and is an otherwise identical set.

Checks and Counters
====
- Gholdengo is a premier threat for Ursaluna-Bloodmoon due to its high Special Attacking power and Make It Rain, abusing Ursaluna-Bloodmoon's lower Special Defense stat.
- Ogerpon-W's strong STAB attacks can prove troublesome for Ursaluna-Bloodmoon and its ability to Terastallize and receive +1 Special Defense reduces Ursaluna-Bloodmoon's effectiveness in damaging it.
- Chien-Pao can reduce Ursaluna-Bloodmoon's defensive capabilities due to Sword of Ruin, firing off super-effective Ice STAB attacks and punishing Tera Ghost with Dark-type attacks.
- Chi-Yu can reduce Ursaluna-Bloodmoons defensive capabilities due to Beads of Ruin, allowing partners like Gholdengo and Tornadus to hit Ursaluna-Bloodmoon with more damage, as well as using strong Fire STAB attacks.

Ursaluna-B utilizes its extremely high special wallbreaking power and fantastic STAB combination to power through DOU. more of an optional change, but the next sentence is about the stab combination so this would help it be less repetitive It is a threatening force due to few Pokemon in the tier resisting its STAB combination with the help of Mind's Eye, and it fits on both Trick Room and Tailwind-centric teams.
