Data Usage-Based Tier Update for April 2021

Regieleki is still OU? Seriously, it's just a glorified Jolteon, what is that ladder?
EDIT: Also, if you look at the Doubles OU viability rankings, you'll see various Pokemon that are tier 5 or even unranked like Whimsicott, Regieleki, and Glastrier are Doubles OU by usage, but Spectrier is not.
I expected Spectrier to rise to DOU as well

I'm not even mad, though it helps that we actually got a mon I wanted for once (regular Moltres, especially with Scizor back on top again), that we lost three really annoying ones in addition to Victini finally getting booted (like it should have), and that basically took a break for a month on top of that.

Bisharp moved from UU to OU
Kyurem moved from UU to OU
Skarmory moved from UU to OU
Slowking moved from UU to OU
Zeraora moved from UU to OU
Magnezone moved from RU to OU

Zapdos-Galar moved from OU to UUBL
Buzzwole moved from OU to UU
Latios moved from OU to UU
Moltres moved from OU to UU
Barraskewda moved from OU to RU
Oh OU, you're such a fickle beast...and yet given your perverse lust for the brokenness of Regenerator, you could haven't at least stolen Spore Bot a.k.a. Amoonguss too? Why welcome back Bisharp and Magnezone into your cruel, loveless embrace when you're only going to inevitably drop them again next shift when you could have taken Spore: The Mon for at least three months instead? Come on guys, you're Slaking slacking.

It's so funny to me that OU just Yoinks whatever it pleases from lower tiers and throws away what it doesn't want. In a way OU feels like the absolute King. It has access to every single mon from ZU to OU. While Ubers also has this access, it can't deny others tier from mons. Shuckle has been top 20 in Ubers for quite some time but we can use it in every tier. OU is the one who solely decides what it wants from Ubers or not. Ubers can't take anything from it on it's own.

I feel kinda bad for UU because I understand that Kyurem, and Zeraora were top tier parts of their meta game and the other 3 were as well. They were not considered broken I think but they were taken away regardless without their will. Also now they have to contend with Buff bug, fire chicken and Lati.
Their entire meta game was in a state of disarray overnight for no reason.

In a way this is good thing too as the meta stays fresh for UU as well without even the game itself being updated.

Do you think a system where tiers can test mons from the higher tier itself and not just BL like OU and Ubers can work out? It seems it would throw the balance out of whack but could be cool.

uu honestly hasn’t gotten a break over the last 2 generations. in gen 7, we saw 24 pokémon get banned to uubl, and this generation, we’re seeing uu’s pokémon get stolen by ou. it’s kinda funny, but i do feel bad for uu players

Poor Articuno.

Now that we’re back to that 3-month wait can we FINALLY go back to that 3.41% cutoff?
How many times does this have to be repeated? The 4.52% cut-off was not conceived "because of the dex cut" or "because of DLC" or what have you. It was adopted because they wanted to rise it period, it was a decision taken before anyone ever knew that gen 8 was going to have a dex cut or DLC.

A more restrictive cutoff simply means that it is even harder to sway it with temporary trends and is arguably a more representative sample of a given tier. In fact, aside from Regieleki, gen 8 doesn't really have any "Donphan" cases of Pokémon stuck in an higher tier where they are not viable, whereas pretty much every gen 7 tier had at least one such case.

as someone who used to want to bring back the old cutoff ... honestly there’s no reason to change the current cutoff. the only argument i can even imagine against the current one is that “too many pokémon are getting banned”. which isn’t a completely unreasonable argument, but let’s not forget about when gen 7 had two dozen pokémon in uubl despite the low cutoff. not even nubl back in january came close to that ridiculous number of bans.

in terms of pure usage stats, the competitve meta is completely fine & isn’t in need of a lower cutoff.

Can I just voice a small complaint about this graphic? Zapdos-Galar is shown as #40 in this graphic, but by usage it was dropped to UU. If that's the case, then it shouldn't appear in the OU graphic since it "Didn't make the cut".
I know I'm nitpicking here, but I think it's worth calling out that Zapdos-G didn't make the cutoff and thus shouldn't appear on the sheet here.

This graph is for march only. Zapdos-G is above the cut-off this month, it obtained 4.66018% in usage.

Is there an easy way to combine the 3 months of stats for tiers not reported? Would like to see equally weighted first quarter usage for NFE.
