I think the main site should have the usage stats easily available rather than going to a large text file or a forum post. They should be directly on there. The site should make them easy to access and find more intuitive ways rather than Ctrl + F ing through a text file.

Perhaps something like a trendgrapher on the main site, but that should be an added feature once the usage stats are all easily available on the main site.
 
Being able to copy and paste one tier of usage stats would be nice. Currently all tiers are space delimited, making them very annoying to copy and paste just one tier.
 
What do you guys think of usage trend graphs being part of the individual pokemon analysis pages? Is that something that could be done? It would be awfully tedious unless we found a way to automate it.... but I think that would be a great addition if we could get it done.
 
If I recall correctly, Doug & bearzly mentioned compiling the stats into a database and generating usage graphs from it (automated obviously). I think it would look a bit messy to have the trend graph on the analysis page, but I believe something along these lines is already being planned.
 
How about rather than having it on the page, have a third tab (Analysis/Moves) for each Pokemon with the Usage statistics? This could allow a graph of their usage plus graphs of how they are used (also compiled monthly by X-act, so shouldn't be too hard to incorporate), EVs, moves, item, etc.

I think that is way too complicated and against the purpose of the idea that I wanted. If I'm searching for usage data, I rather not want to have to dig through the usage by clicking on every Pokemon.

The point is that data should be organized and easily available through some section of the website.
 
I did not suggest that the information not be available in a single place. I think it should be. I think it would also be interesting to understand the current and past usage of a pokemon when looking at its analysis, however. The ideas are not mutually exclusive... I was augmenting your suggestion.
 
we could always just have links to searches of the pokemon on all the analyses on a general onsite grapher/plotter (for reference, here is shoddy's) wildfire's idea of tabs is also a good one

i think implementing anything of the sort would be an excellent start, and we can always add worthwhile features/linksets later on.
 
I was thinking maybe a Stats section in the Shoddy Battle section of the site, and then a link to the detailed stats of that mon in each analysis. In addition, maybe its usage stats and rank for the last 3 or so months.
 
I agree with this and would like to help with having the process become automated. I could also 'donate' my algorithm that produces the average moveset, EVs and nature given a month's usage stats to be displayed as a separate tab in a Pokemon's page like what was suggested by Aeolus.
 
It'd also be nice to see in the Tiers page(s) the usage percentage of each Pokemon in that tier, so they could be ordered on it like their stats.
Also (unrelated) I'd really like it if typing was included in those lines. Sure, it's nice to see their ability and stats, but if I want to find all Grass pokemon who learn Thunderwave in UU, I'd rather not have to click in on each name that I don't automatically recognize.
 
I've wanted to get the stats on the site for a long time. The current way of publishing the data in Stark was really supposed to be just a "temporary" solution. I plan to get more involved in adding stuff to the site, and this is one of my top priorities along those lines.

My intent was to add this stuff to the Shoddy Battle section of the site. I think it would be interesting if we could put Bearzly's usage chart stuff somewhere on the DP dex pages, but I'm not sure how difficult that will be. Bearzly expressed interest in bringing his charting stuff to Smogon. After we get the other stats on the site, we can look at the best way to integrate usage charting.
 
I agree that it would be a great idea to make the stats part of the site rather than as text pasted into a post every month. If Doug gets things set up to dynamically display stats on the main site then it should be pretty trivial to get the graphs going.

Also, I think having trends on the analysis page might be a cool thing to have. Maybe it would include the counters too?

EDIT: I noticed in the other topic it was mentioned that chaos doesn't like applets on the site. Does the same apply to Flash? If so, I'll have to look for a different library that does static images.
 
I think this is a great idea as well, but it is a major project. This could be split up into a bunch of different sub projects, starting with usage stat automation (to free up resources).

Has there been any progress on this?
