I was just wondering why in all of the movesets in which a water-type substitutes down to activate a berry why isn't the move Brine used in place of Surf. Brine doubles its base power from 65 to 130 when HP is at 50% or less, which makes it more powerful that Surf or Hydro Pump. I feel that this synergizes well with subbing down and should be considered on most movesets where this would be useful.

Using the move 'Brine' more often.

Taking that into account, the only common pinch berry user is Empoleon, and brine is overkill when most Water types have moves that will kill Empoleon at 25% (assuming it isn't behind a sub). Brine is worthless; Surf is much more reliable, and the 10 BP difference between Hydro Pump and fully-powered Brine is almost insignificant. Brine is pretty much worthless, so don't waste a move slot on it.
