Set Description
=========
Utility Dragonite is a reliable wall that can check threats like Heatran, Urshifu-R, Rillaboom, and Kartana with its typing, access to Multiscale, and expansive movepool. Dual Wingbeat allows Dragonite to reliably take out Fighting- and Grass-types like Urshifu-R, Buzzwole, and Rillaboom as well as Volcarona. Alternatively, Ice Beam can beat Stealth Rock setters like Landorus-T and Garchomp, while Flamethrower torches Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Scizor, which can otherwise switch into Dragonite with impunity and remove its Heavy-Duty Boots with Knock Off. Earthquake has good synergy with the aforementioned moves, as it can threaten Fire-types like Heatran, Victini, and Volcanion; punish Rock-types like Tyranitar and Nihilego for switching in; and hit Steel-types like Excadrill harder. Superpower is an alternative that obliterates the aforementioned Tyranitar while still maintaining coverage against the likes of Heatran and Excadrill, though it comes at the cost of Dragonite needing to switch out after using the move due to it dropping its Attack and Defense. Threatening Tyranitar is important, as its Sand Stream breaks Multiscale, severely hampering Dragonite's ability to perform its defensive duties. Roost and Heal Bell ensure that Dragonite is healthy and free of status to preserve Multiscale as much as possible, and Heavy-Duty Boots also contributes to this by preventing Dragonite from taking Stealth Rock damage. Heal Bell allows Dragonite to reliably check Volcanion by removing burns from Steam Eruption and helps out teammates that are prone to getting statused, enhancing the team's longevity. The EV spread allows Dragonite to outspeed Adamant Buzzwole and maximizes bulk.

Team Options
========
Utility Dragonite is best used on balance and stall teams that appreciate its defensive profile and customizability to check specific threats. Steel-types like Scizor and Heatran are fantastic partners, as they can check Fairy-types like Tapu Lele and Clefable as well as Steel-types that overwhelm Dragonite. Scizor can handle Melmetal, while Heatran can beat the likes of Aegislash and Celesteela. Knock Off absorbers are greatly appreciated, as Dragonite despises losing Heavy-Duty Boots, so Clefable and Toxapex can help by filling that role while acting as secondary checks to threats that Dragonite wants to answer; both Clefable and Toxapex can handle Buzzwole and Urshifu-R, while Toxapex can help out against Fire-types like Victini and Volcarona as well as Water-types like Volcanion and Barraskewda. Both Pokemon can also act as defensive pivots against Tyranitar and check threats to Dragonite, with Clefable being a good stopgap to Dragon-types like Garchomp and Hydreigon and Toxapex stopping Fairy-types like Calm Mind Clefable and Tapu Fini in their tracks. Moreover, they are good checks to the dangerous Weavile, which can OHKO Dragonite with Triple Axel or remove its Heavy-Duty Boots with Knock Off. Gastrodon pairs well with Dragonite, as its typing and access to Storm Drain can help Dragonite check the likes of Heatran, Victini, Volcanion, and Seismitoad, and it is able to beat Electric-types that can threaten Dragonite like Tapu Koko, Zapdos, and Zeraora. Gastrodon also forms a good defensive core with Dragonite against Dragapult, as both Pokemon can share defensive duties to mitigate the consequences of a Special Defense drop from Shadow Ball. Skarmory is a good check against offensive Ground-types such as Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Excadrill, which can overwhelm Dragonite after a Swords Dance boost, and it is a sturdy wall against the likes of Weavile and Melmetal. Moreover, Skarmory's ability to set Spikes gives the structures that Dragonite finds itself on a reliable way to apply pressure against opponents through passive damage.

Utility Dragonite is a reliable defensive wall that can check a myriad of threats with its typing (such as?), access to Multiscale and expansive movepool. Dual Wingbeat is a great STAB move that allows Dragonite to reliably take out Fighting- and Grass- types like Urshifu-R, Buzzwole, and Rillaboom. Alternatively, Ice Beam can beat Stealth Rock setters like Landorus-T and Garchomp, while Flamethrower torches Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Scizor that can otherwise annoy it with entry hazards and Knock Off. Earthquake has good synergy with the aforementioned moves, as it can threaten Fire-types like Heatran, Victini, and Volcanion, punish Rock-types like Tyranitar and Nihilego from switching in and hit Steel-types like Excadrill harder. Superpower is an alternative that obliterates the aforementioned Tyranitar while still maintaining coverage against the likes of Heatran and Excadrill.(mention the drawback since eq is preffered) Roost and Heal Bell ensure that Dragonite is healthy and free of status to preserve Multiscale as much as possible, and Heavy-Duty Boots also contributes to this by preventing Dragonite from taking Stealth Rock damage. (still mention Heal Bell is good utility for allies that are prone to status) The EV spread allows Dragonite to outspeed adamant Buzzwole and maximize bulk.

Gastrodon also stonewalls Nidoking, which obliterates Dragonite with Ice Beam(im iffy mentioning this while albeit true this can be applied to any strong ice beam since its generally going to be a 2hko if multiscale is in tact). Skarmory is a good check against offensive Ground-types such as Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Excadrill that can overwhelm Dragonite after a Swords Dance boost, and is a sturdy wall against Weavile. Alternatively, Ice Beam can beat Stealth Rock setters like Landorus-T and Garchomp, while Flamethrower torches Steel-types like Ferrothorn and Scizor that can otherwise annoy it with entry hazards and Knock Off. I would mention that it is not a switch in to those since losing boots is bad Earthquake has good synergy with the aforementioned moves, as it can threaten Fire-types like Heatran, Victini, and Volcanion, punish Rock-types like Tyranitar and Nihilego from switching in and hit Steel-types like Excadrill harder. Superpower is an alternative that obliterates the aforementioned Tyranitar while still maintaining coverage against the likes of Heatran and Excadrill at the cost of needing to switch out after using the move due to the latter dropping its Attack and Defense. Mention that taking out Tyranitar is nice since the sand will always break Dnite multiscale Roost and Heal Bell ensure that Dragonite is healthy and free of status to preserve Multiscale as much as possible, and Heavy-Duty Boots also contributes to this by preventing Dragonite from taking Stealth Rock damage. Heal Bell also helps out teammates that are prone to getting statused, enhancing the team's longevity. Thanks to Heal Bell dnite is also a check to Volcanion The EV spread allows Dragonite to outspeed adamant Buzzwole and maximize bulk.

Clefable+ Toxapex helps in the MU vs CB tyranitar too
Both Pokemon can also check threats to Dragonite, with Clefable being a good stopgap to Dragon-types like Garchomp and Hydreigon while Toxapex stops Fairy-types like Calm Mind Clefable and Tapu Fini in their tracks. Gastrodon also stonewalls Nidoking, which obliterates Dragonite with Ice Beam. I would remove nidoking mention tbh, it is a B rank mon. I would rather add a mention of Melmetal since it can force out dnite and cannot be walled long terms by Clef+ Pex. Similarly i would put some words about Dragapult mu, since sometime this dnite set can be used to switch in specs sball.
Skarmory is a good check against offensive Ground-types such as Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Excadrill that can overwhelm Dragonite after a Swords Dance boost and it is immune to sand , and is a sturdy wall against Weavile. Moreover, Skarmory's ability to set Spikes gives the structures that Dragonite finds itself on a reliable way to apply pressure against opponents through passive damage.
