Quality Control Utility Ogerpon-Wellspring [QC 1/2] [GC 0/1]

Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- U-turn / Knock-Off
- Knock-Off / Synthesis
- Spikes / Synthesis / Encore / Taunt

Contrary to its common role as a stallbreaker, Ogerpon-Wellspring can also function as an excellent utility piece of balance and bulky offensive teams, primarily those based around hazard stacking. This is courtesy of it being arguably one of the best offensive spikers in the metagame as it forces switches consistently by threatening common pokemon like Great Tusk, Ting-Lu, Landorus-Therian etc. U-turn enables Ogerpon-W to gain offensive momentum on usual switchins like Dragonite, Kyurem and Hydrapple while also giving it a super effective move against opposing Ogerpons (Wellspring or otherwise) and Samurott-Hisui. Knock Off can be used to cripple defensive cores that are reliant on Heavy Duty Boots like Pecharunt, Alomomola and Sinsitcha, while also hitting Dragapults and Slowking-Galar super effectively. Spikes is the primary move that makes this set so potent on hazard stack teams, as it helps apply constant pressure against a variety of playstyles especially when used in combination with Knock-Off. Synthesis is another option that provides some much needed longevity to Ogerpon-W, considering it is a hazard weak pokemon itself while also enabling it to switch in multiple times on moves like Ting-Lu's Ruination and Great Tusk's Headlong Rush. Encore and Taunt are two alternatives that compromise on longevity but help improve other matchups - Encore helps against set up sweepers like Swords Dance Gliscor, Calm Mind Raging Bolt and Swords Dance Kingambit while Taunt is useful in denying hazards from going up, while also improving matchups against more defensive oriented teams by preventing recovery moves like Roost on Corviknight and Rest on Dondozo. It also prevents status moves like Toxic from Gliscor and Will-O-Wisp from Weezing-Galar and also denies hazard removal through Defog. Dropping U-turn in place of Knock Off is also an option that can be considered in cases were the team lacks meaningful ways to remove boots. An alternative spread of 8 HP / 12 Def / 236 Atk / 252 Spe can also be used which permits it to live a Power Whip from full from opposing Ogerpons and a Close Combat from Max Attack Iron Valiant and Great Tusk after rocks. A well-timed tera can also turn this set from a utility spiker to a potent breaker in the right matchup, securing crucial 2HKOs with Ivy Cudgel on pokemon like Zapdos while also removing its weakness to moves like Iron Moth's Sludge Wave and Corviknight's Brave Bird.

Utility Ogerpon-W functions best on hazard stacking structures that aim to get hazards up quickly and pressuring multiple switches through offensive momentum. Stealth Rock users like Great Tusk, Ting-Lu and Garganacl partner well to form a hazard stacking duo with Ogerpon-W. Other spikes like Samurott-Hisui and Skarmory also complement Ogerpon-W well in cases where it opts not to run spikes. Garganacl in particular synergizes well as it handles pokemon like Zapdos, Dragapult and Pecharunt all of whom cause problems to Ogerpon-W. This set also becomes doubly effective when used in conjunction with another Knock Off user in order to maxmize the pressure mounted by hazards. Pokemon like Darkrai, Iron Treads and Gliscor are excellent teammates in this regard. Iron Treads has the added benefit of helping keep hazards off, serves as a secondary knocker and also matches up reasonably well against pokemon like Raging Bolt and Dragonite that like to come in on Ogerpon-W, threatening them with either Earthquake or Ice Spinner after a timely U-turn. Ogerpon-W in return helps against Ground and Fire types like Moltres, Tusk and Gliscor that Iron Treads struggles against. Moltres or Zapdos can pair well with Ogerpon-W to create a pivoting core while also helping against physical threats like Zamazenta and Cinderace which can outspeed and threaten Ogerpon-W. The birds also provide the added benefit of punishing common spinners that try to alleviate the hazard pressure output by Ogerpon-Wellspring. Pecharunt can also perform the role of a pivoting teammate to great effect due to Parting Shot, while also acting as a spin blocker. These pivoting teammates help bring Ogerpon-W in safely, improving its longevity in drawn out games. Pokemon that struggle against ground types and Ting-Lu in particular greatly appreciate the utility provided by Ogerpon-Wellspring - special attackers like Raging Bolt, Gholdengo and Iron Crown come to mind in this regard. Late game cleaners like ID-Press Zamazenta and Swords Dance Kingambit also make great teammates since they are often perfectly set up to win the endgame by the pressure mounted through the course of the game by Ogerpon-Wellspring and hazard stacking. Lack of grass coverage makes this set walled by common bulky water types that otherwise struggle against Ogerpon-Wellspring (like Primarina, Toxapex and Tera Water Garganacl). Slowking-Galar and the aforementioned Garganacl both cover against these matchups perfectly.

Hey, seems like the new slashes (the ones we talked about and that you have now displayed) are fine. Let me know when its implemented and I can give it another look, mostly just to make sure the text makes sense since you might have written parts of it when the slashes were on a different order. This is great though, lmk if you have any input or questions.

Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 16 HP / 240 Atk / 252 Spe 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe (We would like to keep max max as the main EV spread for simplicity sake but a mention of alternative EVs is fine in the text itself)
Jolly Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- U-turn
- Knock-Off / Synthesis
- Spikes / Synthesis / Encore / Taunt

Contrary to its common role as a stallbreaker, Ogerpon-Wellspring can also function as an excellent utility piece of balance/BO teams, primarily those based around hazard stacking. Arguably one of the best offensive spikers in the metagame, access it key moves like U-Turn and Knock Off ensures that Ogerpon-W is always capable of making progress or gaining momentum, while Synthesis provides it with the longevity required as a hazard weak pokemon itself. An understated aspect of this set is its defensive prowess against ground types, especially Ting-Lu, being able to switch in multiple times into earthquakes and ruinations. (I am afraid this might be too long of an introduction. if you could shorten it a bit that would be great, since you go in depth about the moves later on) U-turn enables Wogre Ogerpon-W to gain offensive momentum on usual switchins like Amonguss, Hydrapple and Dragonite (I would change this to include other more OU relevant Pokemon. Maybe "Dragonite, Kyurem, Raging Bolt, Hydrapple, and Amoonguss" works) while also giving it a super effective move against opposing Ogerpons (Wellspring or otherwise). (AP) , and Knock Off can be used to cripple defensive cores that are reliant on Heavy Duty Boots like Pecharunt, Alomomola, Sinistcha, in addition to the above mentioned mons. (Mention Knock Off also hitting Dragapult in particular) Encore and Taunt are two alternatives to synthesis that compromise on longevity but help improve the matchup against set up sweepers and stall respectively. (Here you can go a bit more in depth about what these moves specifically stop, for new users. Taunt stops recovering moves such as.., status moves such as.., and attempts to set up entry hazards from Pokemon like... Something similar for Encore) Dropping U-turn in place of Knock Off is also an option that can be considered in cases were the team lacks meaningful ways to remove boots. 16 HP EVs ensures it always lives a Power Whip from opposing Ogerpons, alternatively 12 EVs can be invested in defense to achieve the same purpose. (We were hoping to mention 8 HP + 8 Def EVs instead of this one, this tanks an Ivy but also CC from Iron Valiant after rocks. But let us know if you have any thoughts about this) A well time tera can also turn this set from a utility spiker to a potent breaker in the right matchup. Here you can expand a bit more on what tera does for Ogerpon-W, like removing its weakness to Iron Moth's Sludge Wave and Galarian Slowking's Sludge Bomb, or even 2HKO Zapdos

Utility Ogerpon-W functions best on hazard stacking structures that aim to get hazards up quickly and pressuring multiple switches through offensive momentum. This set becomes doubly effective when used in conjunction with another Knock Off user in order to maxmise the pressure mounted by hazards. Ogerpon-W in return helps against Ground and Fire types like Moltres, Tusk and Gliscor that treads struggles against. Moltres or Zapdos can pair well with Ogerpon-W to create a Volt-Turn duo while also helping against physical threats like Zamazenta and Cinderace which can outspeed and threaten Ogerpon-W. The birds also provide the added benefit of punishing common spinners that try to alleviate the hazard pressure output by Wogre. Other spin blockers like Pecharunt and Gholdengo can also serve the same function. Pokemon that struggle against ground types and Ting-Lu in particular greatly appreciate the utility provided by Wogre - special attackers like Raging Bolt, Gholdengo and Iron Crown come to mind in this regard. Late game cleaners like ID-Press Zamazenta and SD Kingambit also make great teammates since they are often perfectly set up to win the endgame by the pressure mounted through the course of the game by Wogre and hazard stacking. Lack of grass coverage makes this set walled by common bulky water types that otherwise struggle against Wogre (like Alomomola, Toxapex and Tera Water Garganacl). Slowking-Galar and Garganacl both cover against these matchups perfectly. This is all great. One thing I do feel is missing is Stealth Rock partners that complement Ogerpon-W's Spikes. You already have these in Iron Treads, Ting-Lu, and Garganacl, so if you can somehow restructure the text to mention this that would be great. Else you can have a sentence at the end that is like "Stealth Rock users such as the aforementioned Ting-Lu, Garganacl, Iron Treads, as well as Landorus-T and Great Tusk form strong entry hazard cores alongside Ogerpon-W". A bit more emphasis on Garganacl could also be great as a partner that handles Zapdos, Pecharunt, and Dragapult that cause Ogerpon-W trouble.

Contrary to its common role as a stallbreaker, Ogerpon-Wellspring can also function as an excellent utility piece of balance/BO teams, primarily those based around hazard stacking, courtesy of it being arguably one of the best offensive spikers in the metagame, along with access to a plethora of utility moves and a key resistance to ground types. due to the amount of switches it forces by threatening Pokemon like Ting-Lu, Great Tusk, Landorus-T, .... Knock Off can be used to cripple defensive cores that are reliant on Heavy Duty Boots like Pecharunt, Alomomola and Sinsitcha in addition to the above mentioned mons, while also guaranteeing an OHKO on Dragapults. Synthesis rounds off the set by providing some much needed longevity to Ogerpon-W, considering it is a hazard weak pokemon itself. (Here you could mention the more specific Ting-Lu stuff from before, about more comfortably switching into Ruination and the like, and could even include Great Tusk and Iron Treads) Encore and Taunt are two alternatives to synthesis that compromise on longevity but help improve other matchups - Encore helps against set up sweepers like Dragon Dance Dragonite and Swords Dance Kingambit while Taunt is useful against stall matchups by preventing recovery moves like Roost on Corviknight and Rest on Dondozo. Made the changes, updated to QC 1/2

On a side note, I personally think taunt is very impractical when it comes to denying webs. Ribombee outspeeds it and more often than not Araquanid has something for Wogre (Lunge, Mental Herb, Bug Buzz etc). I've kept the change, but I'm curious to know if you agree on this, do lmk!

Thats fine. If you'd rather remove Sticky Web completely and just leave "entry hazards" that works great. "Taunt is useful in denying entry hazards like sticky webs from going up"

Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- U-turn / Knock Off (Add a comment in first paragraph about dropping U-Turn for Knock Off as an option)
- Knock-Off / Synthesis
- Spikes / Synthesis / Encore / Taunt

Contrary to its common role as a stallbreaker, Ogerpon-Wellspring can also function as an excellent utility piece of balance/BO and bulky offensive teams, primarily those based around hazard stacking, courtesy of it being arguably one of the best offensive spikers in the metagame due to the number of switches in forces by threatening common pokemon like Great Tusk, Ting-Lu, Landorus-Therian etc (This is a super long run-on sentence, would reword but perhaps that's more a GC comment).. U-turn enables Ogerpon-W to gain offensive momentum on usual switchins like Dragonite, Kyurem, Raging Bolt, Hydrapple, and Amoonguss (3 examples seems fine, and these 2 are less common.) while also giving it a super effective move against opposing Ogerpons (Wellspring or otherwise) (Would add another Pokemon U-turn is super effective against, maybe Samurott-Hisui.). Knock Off can be used to cripple defensive cores that are reliant on Heavy Duty Boots like Pecharunt, Alomomola and Sinsitcha (Sinistcha) in addition to the above mentioned mons, while also guaranteeing an OHKO on Dragapults (Isn't quite a guaranteed OHKO - 252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dragapult: 306-362 (96.5 - 114.1%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO - would reword to something like 'hitting Dragapult and Slowking-Galar hard'). (Mention Spikes, as it is the principal 4th move. Then get into slashes such as Synthesis, Encore, and Taunt.) Synthesis rounds off the set by providing ('is another option that provides', or something to that effect) some much needed longevity to Ogerpon-W, considering it is a hazard weak pPokemon itself while also enabling it to switch in multiple times on moves like Ting-Lu's Ruination and Great Tusk's Headlong Rush. (Perhaps emphasize that Synthesis can be used over Knock Off or Spikes.) Encore and Taunt are two alternatives to synthesis that compromise on longevity but help improve other matchups. (This section is a bit odd, considering that Synthesis is just a slashed move, albeit a very good one. Could rework to something like 'Encore and Taunt are two alternatives that ...) - Encore helps against set up sweepers like Dragon Dance Dragonite (This can technically sometimes be true, but Dragonite outspeeds at +1 and can just attack and kill Ogerpon-W. I might instead mention something like Curse Garganacl, Calm Mind Clefable, Swords Dance Gliscor, or Calm Mind Raging Bolt.) and Swords Dance Kingambit while Taunt is useful in denying hazards from going up, while also improving stall (Taunt is also great into general other fat matchups - maybe reword 'stall' into 'fatter' or 'defensive') matchups through preventing recovery moves like Roost on Corviknight and Rest on Dondozo. It also prevents status moves like Toxic from Gliscor and Will-O-Wisp from Weezing-Galar and also denies hazard removal through Defog. Dropping U-turn in place of Knock Off is also an option that can be considered in cases were the team lacks meaningful ways to remove boots. (This doesn't make sense with the way the current moves are laid out. I agree that something like Ivy/Knock/Synthesis/Spikes is probably OK on some teams, but moves and slashes should reflect this.) An alternative spread of 8 HP / 8 Def / 240 Atk / 252 Spe can also be used which permits it to live a Power Whip from full from opposing Ogerpons and a Close Combat from Max Attack Iron Valiant after rocks. (Should instead mention 8 hp / 12 def which lets it survive these attacks as well as an offensive tusk Close Combat after rocks: 252 Atk Great Tusk Close Combat vs. 8 HP / 12 Def Ogerpon-Wellspring: 225-265 (74.2 - 87.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock) A well time well-timed tera can also turn this set from a utility spiker to a potent breaker in the right matchup, securing crucial 2HKOs with Ivy Cudgel on pPokemon like Zapdos while also removing its weakness to moves like Iron Moth's Sludge Wave and Slowking-Galar's Sludge Bomb. (Either of these examples is great, but my second example would be a different type of move, like U-turn from an example of your choice or Brave Bird from Corviknight)

Garganacl in particular synergizes well as it handles pokemon like Zapdos, Dragapult and Pecharunt all of whom cause problems to Ogerpon-W. (I might also mention some good Spiking teammates if this set is not running Spikes.) This set also becomes doubly effective when used in conjunction with another Knock Off user in order to maxmise maximize the pressure mounted by hazards. Pokemon like Darkrai, Iron Treads and Gliscor are excellent teammates in this regard. Iron tTreads has the added benefit of helping keep hazards off, serves as a secondary knocker and also matches up reasonably well against pPokemon like Raging Bolt and Dragonite that like to come in on Ogerpon-W, threatening them with either Earthquake or Ice Spinner after a timely U-turn. Ogerpon-W in return helps against Ground and Fire types like Moltres, Great Tusk and Gliscor that Iron tTreads struggles against. Moltres or Zapdos can pair well with Ogerpon-W to create a Volt-Turn duo (pivoting core) while also helping against physical threats like Zamazenta and Cinderace which can outspeed and threaten Ogerpon-W. (Pecharunt is also good into physical threats and pivots, it could be mentioned as an additional example teammate in this section.) The birds also provide the added benefit of punishing common spinners that try to alleviate the hazard pressure output by Wogre Ogerpon-W. Other spin blockers like Pecharunt and Gholdengo can also serve the same function. Pokemon that struggle against ground types and Ting-Lu in particular greatly appreciate the utility provided by Wogre Ogerpon-W - special attackers like Raging Bolt, Gholdengo and Iron Crown come to mind in this regard. Late game cleaners like ID-Press Zamazenta and SD (Swords Dance) Kingambit also make great teammates since they are often perfectly set up to win the endgame by the pressure mounted through the course of the game by Wogre Ogerpon-W and hazard stacking. Lack of grass coverage makes this set walled by common bulky water types that otherwise struggle against Wogre Ogerpon-W (like Alomomola (Even without a grass-type move, Alo still does nothing back to Ogerpon-W. I don't think it's necessary, but if you really want a third example, maybe mention Primarina.), Toxapex and Tera Water Garganacl). (I would mention that Knock Off makes these Pokemon not really secure answers - these can switch in comfortably initially, but over the course of a game, Ogerpon-W will accumulate chip with hazards and beat them. Encore and Taunt also can annoy these.) Slowking-Galar and the aforementioned Garganacl both cover against these matchups perfectly.

(I think another kind of teammate Ogerpon-W really appreciates is pivots that can help bring it in. You mention good ones like Moltres, Zapdos, and Pecharunt already, there could be some slight rewording to emphasize this. It could also tie into Synthesis being good at helping reduce the reliance on pivots to bring Ogerpon-W in.)

Will give it another check after changes are implemented, QC 2/2 once confirmed.

Implemented the changes, lmk if you require any further edits.
