Confused, truth is what I choose

Yo, this is my first RMT for gen 6 UU hope you get something out of it. This team was the first team I threw together for xy uu and it ended up going about 35-1 overall, 20-1 on the ladder. The concept for my team originally was using mega heracross and scolipede but once mega hera got banned I had to find a replacement and I chose mega-medicham. Besides that poke change the only other things that have changed are movesets.

The Team:

There really was no step by step process for this so I'm just going to skip that part.

Medicham-Mega @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 16 SDef / 240 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Bullet Punch
- Zen Headbutt
- High Jump Kick

There are some pretty strong megas in UU and medicham is definitely one of them. This originally was a mega heracross but following the ban of that I wanted a solid replacement that could somewhat fulfill the same role. Hitting ridiculously high attack with huge power and base 100 attack stat coupled with the ability to outspeed max speed base 85's while running adamant for extra power makes medicham a huge threat in the tier. For moves I went with the standard dual stab + priority for fairies and revenge. Substitute is there because medicham usually will force a switch and get up a free sub which I find more useful that having another attacking move.

Empoleon @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump / Scald
- Defog
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
The champ is here. Empoleon is easily my favourite mon to use so far in gen 6 as it can take hits very well and deal out huge damage if you invest in sp atk and LO. The best thing about empoleon is that people switch out of it into offensive moves to try and kill it quite a bit since they aren't fearing much from empoleon although a hydro pump later and they are sorry. For moves, running ice beam/hydro/grass knot gives empoleon near perfect coverage although if one really needs a more reliable water type move or wants to try and fish burns on more defensive mons you can replace hydro with scald. Defog is there just as a fail safe if I'm getting hazard stacked.

Staraptor @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Close Combat
- Double-Edge
KACAW! Staraptor is easily a top 3 mon in UU and probably the best scarfer for cleaning up games while being able to pick things off with strong af coverage and reckless, stab boosted base 120bp double-edge/brave bird. U-turn helps swing momentum in my favour as well as avoiding being walled by a few things that can take any scarf raptor hit such as metagross and mega aggron.

450.png

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Roar
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
Hippowdon is a great pivot for my team as well as being a reliable rocker. Running the sp.def set enables hippo to takes hits from mons it normally wouldn't be able to stand up to such as latias. Eq is for stab attack and helps my team deal with bisharp a bit better while roar/slack off are just so I can keep this thing around for as long as needed.

545.png

Scolipede @ Black Sludge
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 130 Spd / 248 HP / 4 Atk / 126 Def
Jolly Nature
- Megahorn
- Rock Slide / Poison Jab / Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Protect
Barring mega evolutions, scolipede is probably the most improved mon this gen receiving a +10 base attack boost as well as the ability speed boost. Scoli can abuse a SD/Bpass set very effectively but I don't really find it necessary for this team so I went with a bulky protect SD set which has done amazing. The bulky allows scoli to set up at least one SD against most things then proceed to do work with megahorn + the coverage move of your choice. Unfortunately with protect you lose out on the great coverage it gets but I find protect to come in really handy when you need to revenge a scarfer or something a bit faster. Megahorn is the primary stab choice while the coverage move really depends on what your team needs between rock slide/eq/poison jab.

Latias (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Surf
- Thunderbolt / Trick
Latias, my favourite BW uber mon now resides in xy uu beta. I really wanted a fast, somewhat bulky specs mon to fill in the last spot and latias fits perfectly. The moves for this are pretty standard as they provide solid coverage in the tier but the odd move out is probably tbolt. I had tbolt on here originally because I was having a bit of trouble with bulky waters as I used to use empoleon without grass knot but now I swap between tbolt and trick for the most part.

Well that's my xy uu beta team currently and if you want to have a good team to ladder with I encourage you to try this out while it is still legal as tier changes are happening soon, yes I know I got this out pretty late.

Threats: Not really going to go big on this but just a couple key things to look out for.

- Heavy stall is a slight problem to break through, you really need to outpredict and kill something from their core to win.

- SD 3 attacks LO scolipede. Just don't let this thing get a SD.

hey royalty :)

honestly your scolipede set would benefit a lot from using baton pass somewhere since you're not even using adamant or any attack evs on it. medicham and staraptor could both make really good use of the boosts provided by scolipede. if you do plan on keeping a sweeping scolipede set i would suggest at least using attack investment and adamant since it's pretty easy for scolipede to get two or three speed boosts. 248 hp / 244 atk / 16 spe with adamant allows you to beat base 130's at +1 speed and scarf latias at +2.

nice team though, i can see mega gardy giving you problems but they're pretty easy to revenge kill with megacham or staraptor

nice team :toast:

seconding flcl's scolipede suggestion of trying out baton pass or a more offensive ev spread. in addition, i also recommend trying out spikes to help overwhelm defensive teams, although obviously defog makes that a bit less useful of an option.

your team seems pretty weak to scarf staraptor. it outspeeds and 2hko's everything with brave bird + sr aside from empoleon, who loses if it switches into cc and gets worn down really easy because of life orb recoil and no leftovers recovery. band raptor is also a pain but you can at least reliably outspeed it with latias and a scarf raptor of your own. there's a simple fix to this: change hippowdon's nature from careful to impish. this allows hippowdon to always avoid the 2hko from staraptor's brave bird, and helps it beat physical attackers in general better without worrying about keeping its health up all the time so it can counter the physical shit it needs to beat. latias / empoleon are already decent at tanking a special hit in a pinch, so a bit more physical defense would be better for your team.

also definitely go with trick on your specs latias, as that is one of the big things specs has over life orb. trick will help your matchup vs stall and you don't really need a move that only helps vs bulky waters when you have grass knot empoleon.

This is real solid team, but i think that Magnezone will do Latias's role much beter for your team. First off, it can take Fairy type moves from the likes of Mega-Gardevoir, and Florges. Also Anyltic+ Specs will do massive damage to anything faster than it. With a Respectable 70/115/90 Defensive spread, and a massive 130 SpA coupled with a low 60 base Speed for Anyltic, STAB Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon will do massive damage to even things that resist them.

Also thats awsome Sig royalty.

Yea when I had mega hera I used bp pede but since the change I've kinda just been rotating sets with it, bulkier bp with the current def in atk worked pretty well too. Scarf raptor is just a monster and I will change back to impish on hippo. Magnezone would fill the role of empoleon more than latias but lacks defog which is kinda why I went with emp. Thx for the suggestions.
