UU beta team- Overly Unorthodox?

This is my first RMT and before we start I should get one thing out of the way. I know that this team is not playing to all of its strengths effectively. That's not the whole point of the team. The idea behind it is an attempt to discover new roles in some pokemon while trying to make them work well.

Scrafty @ Assault Vest
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Dragon Tail
- Drain Punch
- Fake Out

Assault vest is one of my favorite items introduced in the sixth generation so I just had to put it on the first team I made. Scrafty seemed like a great potential user of it and it is! Because Scrafty looses potential recovery with an assault vest, drain punch is there for STAB an some extra recovery. Knock off is the main reason that this set works so well as it screws up nearly anything that takes it. Fake out is there because well... fake out. Free damage plus some scouting potential is always nice.Dragon tail works for some great phasing because roar is unusable. Scrafty's attack and HP could use all the help that they could get so I invested fully in both of those.

Nidoking (M) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Spd / 252 HP
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab
- Toxic Spikes

The standard for Nidokings has lately been a special attacking life orb set. That set works and all but it is what nearly everybody uses. Because of this it is just too predictable. Poison jab and EQ are there for some good STAB while sucker punch helps with priority. Toxic spikes is just nice to have and is the only reason for hex on Absol. Black sludge in this scenario because life orb would hurt more than it would help.

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Hex
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Dark Pulse

Call it novelty and gimmicky because you're probably right. Hex is very situational. If Nidoking gets his toxic spikes up, it works very well. If he can't get it up hex is next to useless. Dark pulse is much more reliable and works as a nice STAB. The other moves are there for coverage and work quite well because mega Absol's special attack isn't half bad.

Sceptile @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Spd / 4 SDef / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
IVs: 30 HP
- Acrobatics
- Leaf Blade
- Power-Up Punch
- Substitute

This set really should not work as well as it does. Power-Up Punch took the place of what was previously swords dance so that Sceptile can finish off very weak foes while nabbing the always welcome attack boost. Leaf blade for a nice physical STAB and acrobatics because unburden and acrobatics pretty much go hand in hand. Substitute is the crutch of this set. 30 HP IVs gives Sceptile 280 HP which is divisible by four so that substitute takes out a clean 25% of its health. After two substitutes the sitrus berry activates, giving Sceptile plus one speed as well as making acrobatics usable

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Def / 44 HP / 208 SAtk/4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Flash Cannon
- Defog

This is a pretty standard utility Empoleon set but with one main difference from others. If you haven't figured it out by now I'll give you a hint. It's flash cannon. Although flash cannon normally is not used and replaced by a support move, it actually has a place in 6th gen. Fairy types switch in in an attempt to stall Empoleon out only to instead get blasted with a flash cannon. Scald, Stealth Rock, and Defog are standard so I don't think I need to go into detail about those. 44HP is so that Empoleon is getting the most recovery possible from leftovers.

Azelf @ Expert Belt
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Dazzling Gleam
- Psyshock
- Charge Beam
Everybody that I used this Azelf against thought it was scarfed and that screwed them over in the end. Well that was the whole purpose of the expert belt. Charge Beam's nice for some special attack boosts. Dazzling Gleam catches a lot of people off guard and OHKOs every Hydreigon in sight. Psyshock breaks through most special walls and flamethrower is just nice to have around. Timid is to make it seem even more like Azelf's scarfed.

So that's my team. It may feel gimmicky but through my experiences with it, it has really shown its worth. Any criticism would be appreciated and if nothing else I hope I have some good ideas for the potential of these pokemon.
