first things first: Hello smogon! This is my very first post here, so please don't be all that harsh :D
So I wanted to use a UU team with SD Blaziken in it, so I said to myself, why not use a team with boosting sweepers then?
Note: everything on this team, except Blaziken, is replaceable :p the blazing chicken is just my favorite :))
Team building:
So like i said, I wanted to pull off a blaziken sweep. Since everyone expects the chicken man to be mixed, running SD has that surprise factor, and the sheer power that it brings on its usual counters is just crazyyy.
Next, i wanted the sweep to have entry hazards, and I mean ENTRY hazards. Outside of toxic spikes, i wanted spikes AND stealth rock, so a pokemon that came to mind was omastar.
Entry hazards, check. I wanted those hazards to stay in as long as possible, so a spin blocker was needed. Enter spiritomb:
I needed a special sweeper, and a stat boosting one to boot. At this time, porygon-Z was my intended sweeper, but then, the duck got kicked to BL. Raikou was my second choice as it can surely get a CM or 2 before sweeping.
I wanted yet another sweeper on this team. Seeing that the usual counters to blaziken, like milotic, hariyama, and hitmontop are not a problem anymore, i found a pokemon that really benefits from removing them: Feraligatr. Its feraligatr, does it need an introduction?
I dont know why exactly, but I wanted a raikou check on this team. It took me a while, but i think i found the perfect raikou counter in Steelix.
In depth:
The lead: OMASTAR@leftovers
Bold, Shell armor, 252 hp 176 def 80 sp.def
Surf
Ancientpower
Spikes
Stealth Rock
This lead has been amazing. i normally get to put up SR and a layer of spikes before this beast goes down. If I feel that i can take the lead, i attack. Moltres leads normally U-turn out, and I get SR up. if they stay in, they get a surf to the face. Against froslass leads, ancientpower, and if they think they can DB me, I set-up in her face. Aipom leads are a bit trickier. After the flinch, I still try to get the feel, if they run taunt, I attack, and if they dont, i set-up as low kick cant muster a 3hko. TrickScarf Uxie is a problem though.
The Spin-blocker: Spiritomb@leftovers
Careful, 208 hp 184 atk 116 sp. def
Pursuit
Sucker Punch
Will-o-wisp
Pain split
This set is pretty self explanatory. Pursuit and SP for mindgames, while pain split for more longevity. Will-o-wisp burns any physical sweeper who thinks it can set-up in Tomb's face, most notably, venusaur, though the ones I see run sleep powder. Im thinking of making Tomb into a RestTalk variant.
The tank: Steelix@leftovers
Sassy, 252 hp 252 sp. def 6 atk
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Roar
Explosion
This build takes about 20% from a +1 HP ice/grass/water/fighting, and is able to take out the sub. If they dont sub, they face an EQ to the face. Stone edge for coverage, roar for phazing, and explosion to go out in a blaze of glory.
THE SWEEPERS:
Big Jaws: Feraligatr@ leftovers
Adamant, 252 atk 252 spe 6 hp
Waterfall
Ice Punch
Earthquake
Dragon Dance
You may be asking me why i dont have aqua jet. Thats because I really see the lack in power. Other than that, its again, pretty straightforward boost then sweep tactic.
The Lightning Cat: Raikou@Life Orb
Timid, 252 sp atk 252 spe 6 hp
Thunderbolt
Shadow Ball
HP Ice 70
Calm mind
Again, striaghtforward. HP ice for super effective coverage with Thunderbolt. Nuff' said.
The Blazing Chicken: Blaziken@Life Orb
Jolly, 252 attack 252 spe 6 def
Superpower
Flare Blitz
Thunderpunch
Sword's dance
My favorite pokemon, hands down. Superpower can OHKO milotic, donphan, and hariyama, with SR and a few layers of spikes. I switch this beast into something that cant touch it outside of status (I'm looking at you registeel) and proceed to kill with move of choice. If I think he'll switch, Ill SD and kill what's coming in, provided it won't outspeed.
OVERVIEW:
I want to put thunderwave in there, but i cant find a spot. Ive fared pretty good on the ladder with this, being able to sweep with 3-0, or even 4-0.
hope that was a good first post!
