Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Round 1: Bisharp
Bisharp @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
Bisharp is the newest addition to UU and with it comes the tier's strongest Knock Off, a powerful STAB Iron Head to main Fairies like Galarian Weezing and Hatterene, and a powerful priority move in Sucker Punch. It's not infallible though, and there are certainly some Pokemon that can make Bisharp's job a lot easier. What will you pair with it?
Submissions are due Wednesday, August 12th.
Starmie tends to have solid synergy with Bisharp. It can beat the Fighting-types like Cobalion that give Bisharp trouble and often finds itself as a emergency spinner for the spikestacks/webs Bisharp thrives on. It can also check stuff like non scarf Krook and bulky Grounds Bisharp needs to boost to get past.
Not only does it provide the webs needed for Bisharp to outspeed threats, this special attacking variant nails Skarmory, which needs multiple boosts to bypass it and Druddigon, who annoys Bisharp to no end with constant chip. It also has a weirdly good defensive typing, being able to switch in ground, fire and fighting moves Bisharp draws in.
Mimikyu @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak
- Shadow Claw
Mimikyu serves as the perfect complement to Bisharp, as together they can pressure physical walls super easily and block every form of hazard removal. Additionally, the combination of these two can make it almost impossible for frail wallbreakers to make an impact on the game between double priority and Disguise.
