ORAS UU UU: Mega Absol

Hello everyone,
I'm AwesomeTorterra and today, I'm back with an UU RMT.
This one features Swords Dance Mega Absol with hazards support.

I don't own the images I used.

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance
- Superpower

Absol is the main Pokémon of this team and my set-up sweeper.
I use the standard set, as it, in my opinion, fits in well with the rest of my team.
The EVs are for maximum damage and speed.
Sucker Punch and Knock Off are good STABs, harming anything not resisting it badly.
Superpower is for things that wall Absol.
I considered using Psycho Cut, Megahorn, or Play Rough, but decided against it.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 248 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Giga Drain
- Heal Bell
- Recover

Celebi is my special wall.
It is good at checking common threats such as Suicune, Blastoise, Swampert, Serperior, and Mega Sceptile.
The EVs are used to maximise my special bulk.
Stealth Rock, Recover, and Giga Drain are self-explanatory.
I use Heal Bell, because status annoys me. Also, Absol and Chandelure are hugely crippled by burn and paralysis, respectively.
Even with Magic Bounce on Absol, Scald and Lava Plume are still annoying.

Galvantula @ Focus Sash
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder
- Sticky Web
- Bug Buzz
- Volt Switch

Galvantula is my Websetter and offensive poke.
Again, my EVs are used to maximise Speed and power.
I run 0 attack IVs for minimal Foul Play and confusion damage.
My reason for not running Energy Ball is that I already have enough Grass coverage.
Sticky Web is the only reason Galvantula is even here.

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tri Attack
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Toxic
Porygon2 is my main physical wall, and my staller (aren't they basically the same?) .
Trace is preferred over Download, as copying Abilities can be a game-changer ( example, tracing Serene Grace or Magic Bounce).
Toxic is needed, as I lack status on this team.
Ice beam is used over Thunderbolt as I don't need any other Electric moves.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Sludge Wave
- Haze
Tentacruel is my Rapid Spinner.
My EVs are designed to speed creep Celebi and still be bulky.
Something surprising about this set, though, is Haze.
I noticed that on the ladder, CroCune has become even more popular.
Tentacruel is my stop to that.
Also, it conveniently removes opposing Absol and Yanmega's boosts, in Attack and Speed, respectively.

Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Trick

Chandelure is my wallbreaker and Choice User.
I opted for Specs over Scarf, because I felt like the speed boost was unnecessary with Sticky Web.
Flamethrower is used over Fire Blast, as I don't feel like missing; 'pulling a Shady'.
Trick is my way to cripple walls. It can really surprise things like Suicune and Chesnaught.

Thank you all for reading this.
I'll see you later.

Good solid team. I'd personally give Galvantula T-Wave, though. In my experience T-Wave comes in really handy in a lot of situations.
And maybe get rid of SD on your Absol. Setup opportunities are quite low as you're so fragile, and I'd much rather go for Fire Blast or Ice Beam for some more coverage. Maybe even Pursuit.

I think you are really smart for playing around the current and upcoming metagame, in which CroCune indeed is rising.

What would you replace T-Wave for?
Also, I've tested using Ice Beam on Absol, but I found I had many opportunities to set up, such as a Choice tricked wall, a Celebi, or a -4 Dragalge. Although the last one still does a lot of damage.

Thanks for your advice.

I do not really know. Choosing is hard since I'd replace Volt Switch, but at the same time Volt Switch is extremely helpful. IIRC I used Web, Thunder, Bug Buzz, and T-Wave. But I found I was really missing the Volt Switch so I swapped that for the T-Wave. Then I found I really missed the T-Wave, and then I didn't know what to do anymore. Maybe if you play around the Galvantula some more, and make your team in ways they can eat a lot, you could go for T-Wave instead of Volt Switch, so you can afford eating hits by hard switching out.

So Celebi was just moved to OU, while Terrakion, Salamence, and Pinsir moved to UU.
How do I replace Celebi?
Maybe a Bronzong would work?
Let me know!

ps: bronzong is a bell. how does it not learn heal bell

I used to use a Bronzong with a somewhat offensive set. IIRC it was Gyro Ball, EQ, Stealth Rock, and Toxic. Running a Sassy nature, maximizing Gyro Ball's damage. I figured it worked pretty well as its defense is still pretty good. You could even run Protect, just to scout for potential (OH)KO's. Stupid it doesn't get Heal Bell indeed.

Would a Granbull work to replace Celebi?
It gets Heal Bell, and perfectly counters Mence and Terrak.
It's also a check to Mega Pinsir.
Or perhaps an Uxie?

You can give it a shot, but it's not the perfect replacement for Celebi, as you're now using Granbull to be physically defensive instead of specially defensive. I've used Granbull in the past but I found it more useful with 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def. Of course, you can also try out maxing Sp. Def EVs. Might catch people off guard.

And as for Uxie, I've personally only used it as defensive wall. You could go for a 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 spread though, as you were looking for a replacement for your SpD Celebi. You could go for a somewhat offensive moveset, running Stealth Rock, T-Wave, Psychic, and U-Turn. I always ran Light Clay with double screens, Memento, and Stealth Rock,
