Voting taunt toxic set by avarice. This set in general is arguably one of chandy's best sets in the tier right now for ladder or if you know your opp has any tendancy to use bulkier structures, and probably should have been banned with the other boots sets, the hard 6-0 vs any non umbreon (semi) stall while keeping a great matchup versus other playstyles is fantastic and its one of the scariest fat breakers 100%.

This week's Next Best Thing is...

Week 17: Kyurem

:xy/kyurem:

Kyurem's wallbreaking potential is off the charts. Incredible offensive stats, good Speed, and amazing coverage in Freeze-Dry and Earth Power make it almost impossible to switch into it safely. Its ability to shred common defensive cores like Amoonguss + Slowking is incredible, and a useful defensive typing let it take on dangerous sweepers like Gyarados and Azumarill even when they're boosted. How will you explore Kyurem's potential?

Sub DD
:ss/Kyurem:
Kyurem @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 200 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Icicle Spear
- Roost

Similar to the SubRoost, set Dragon Dance capitalizes on setting a sub in front of answers like chansey and getting up multiple dragon dances. Mono ice STAB sounds weird but its worked a good amount in prior OU metagames. Roost is to provide longevity and Kyurem can PP stall threats with pressure alongside having lots of PP for all of its attacks

Banned deucer.
dd scale shot physical

:bw/kyurem:
Kyurem @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Roost
- Dragon Dance
- Icicle Spear
- Scale Shot

Dragon Dance Scale Shot Kyurem can setup on a plethora of Pokemon in the UU tier. with Roost it has the longevity to mitigate Life Orb-recoil better, Scale Shot is also another option to boost its Speed stat a little bit. Icicle Spear is a great multihit move and after a couple of boosts Kyurem is a great deadly lategame-cleaner. It fits well on VoltTurn support as they can bring it in safely and can also chip down Kyurems answers so Kyurem has it easier in the lategame.

Reserving Sub Toxic!

Oh yeah, you ready to see some hot garbage?

:bw/kyurem:

Kyurem @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 240 HP / 224 SpD / 44 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Earth Power
- Substitute
- Noble Roar / Roost
(only slashing roost for if people actually wanted to use it, noble roar is just funny)

Thanks to Kyurem's outstanding bulk, it's able to set up Substitutes that can withstand a lot of hits, being 4HKO'd by Slowking's Scald, the Rotom's Volt Switch, Tangrowth's Giga Drain, 2HKO'd by Rotom-W's Hydro Pump and Salamence's Flamethrower. Most Defensive Pokemon hate being Toxic'd, limiting their longevity. Earth Power is so you aren't hard-walled by some Steel types, and Noble Roar can make you live even more hits. Speed is for outpacing defensive Mence, letting you Noble Roar it and avoiding your sub being broken.

Kyurem @ Metronome
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Freeze-Dry
- Icicle Spear
- Substitute
- Roost

Metronome allows it to spam it stabs freely gaining power every consecutive use against a pokemon such as slowbro, amoongus, rotom wash. Icicle spear allows it to pressure chansey, and special walls better, and also has 48 PP so you cant just out recover it, a potential 125 Base power stab that if chained will have some results to show you. Hp is for 101 hp subs, rest dumped into speed, sp attack to pressure mons, and hasty to not hurt the power of the mixed stabs.

Weather Kyurem

Kyurem @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Weather Ball / Blizzard
- Freeze-Dry / Ice Beam
- Earth Power / Ice Beam
- Draco Meteor

You could opt to run weather, even though a lot of weather setters not in OU are somewhat lower than UU. Weather Ball becomes a 100 Power move under one of the 4 weather conditions, and provides the user with another type coverage in the process. This Kyurem's other moves are relatively standard, Freeze-Dry to hit mons like the defensive Waters in the tier, like the common Slowking which this set 2-shots, Ice Beam is Kyurem's premier Ice-type move, Earth Power enables Kyurem to hit Rocks/Steels/Fires and Draco Meteor as the hardest-hitting move it has access to. Earth Power is very droppable if you are running rain, and Focus Blast misses to often to feature here.

Blunder Policy Kyurem

Kyurem @ Blunder Policy
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 40 HP / 216 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Blizzard

General idea: Kyurem as a cleaner

Here we have a cleaner that starts with a base 95 Spe (=317 Spe points) alongside a Timid nature.
Blizzard is here in order to have a good chance to activate Blunder Policy with that good +2 Spe boost and proceed to clean the opponent's team. In my opinion this strategy may work effectively because Kyurem forces a good amount of switch-outs (= aka free turns). You have a 70% chance to connect this move and, in this case, you will hurt anything not resisting it. If you catch the 30% miss chance, Blunder Policy will activate with that good +2 Spe boost.
Ice Beam + Freeze-Dry are good Ice-type moves: the first one is chosen for power, whereas the latter one is picked for its ability to hit Waters supereffectively with a STABed move. They are not tha redundant considering that Ice-type is good offensive type.
Earth Power is mandatory here for coverage.
No Dragon STAB because the Ice type has a better coverage all around.

EVs (spread) and item
40 HP EVs are here to reach 401 hp points, enough to stomach 4 Seismic Toss/Night Shade from full health and still being alive at 1 hp.
Timid nature allows Kyurem to reach 317 Spe points right from the start (to speed tie 252+ Spe EVs Indeedee and Obstagoon ) and 634 after a +2, enough to outspeed Moltres-Galar at +2 Spe and kill it.

Team support
This Kyurem needs hazards control in the form of Rapid Spin/Defog because it is weak to SR.
Also, hazards support is always appreciated to make easier for this Kyurem -that is a cleaner, not a sweeper- to KO the opposite threats due to the Timid nature picked over the Modest one.
Thunder Wave support allows this Kyurem to activate Blunder Policy and being deadly.

Mixed Sub Kyurem

:ss/Kyurem:
Kyurem @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 200 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Icicle Spear
- Freeze-Dry

I used this set to get reqs for Aegi re-test and it proved to be quite hilarious. It actually won me half my games by itself - you sub to avoid status, then you DD, and then you have Freeze-Dry for auto-KOs on things like Gyarados or Quagsire (it OHKO's defensive Quagsire even if you are Adamant with 0 investment). Once you set up a few times not much can wall you at all, not even Skarmory. You don't need Roost because you have leftovers and the rocks damage is no biggie so no need for Boots either. Use it compadres.

Choice Scarf Kyurem

Kyurem @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Freeze-Dry
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Outrage

Here we have a cleaner that starts with a base 95 Spe (=317 Spe points) boosted by the Scarf up to 475 points.
Ice Beam + Freeze-Dry are good Ice-type moves: the fors one is chosen for power, whereas the latter one is picked for its ability to hit Waters supereffectively.
Earth Power is here for coverage.
Outrage is a way to circumvent SpD-oriented tanks but it needs Steels and Fairies out of the picture.

This Kyurem needs VoltTurn support to surprise the opponent with this cleaner.
Hey there. Choice items and Assault Vest are banned. Either change your set (no need to make another post or delete this one) or just delete your post if you don't want to participate anymore. If you have any questions, my Discord is in my signature.

Kyurem @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Earth Power
- Roost
- Sleep Talk

allows you to pivot in on amoonguss or tang (dont stay in tho cuz you'll get knocked) and sleep talk through it, potentially catching something.

@Bandkrook: I changed my submission, but when I check the banned sets, the AV and the Choice Scarf ones are not included.
When replying, send me a Discord message or pm me here on Smogon since I don't get notified if you edit your post. Also, Choice items and AV are banned overall, this is not related to the Smogon sets whatsoever.

TailGlowVM

Now 100% more demonic
Scary Face Kyurem
(not the best set but Kyurem has a pretty barren movepool)

:ss/kyurem:

Kyurem @ Never-Melt Ice
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Freeze-Dry
- Earth Power
- Scary Face

The idea of this set is to bluff being Choice Specs by using Never-Melt Ice, then encourage your opponent to switch in something faster that resists your "locked in" attack. Then you hit them with Scary Face on the switch to lower their speed and force them to switch out or take a big hit on the next turn.

Mixed Hone-Claws
:ss/kyurem:
Kyurem @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 216 SpA / 236 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dragon Tail
- Blizzard
- Roost
- Hone Claws

Last minute submission hell yeah!! Pretty straight forward, hone claws not only boost your attack to make dragon tail stronger but it also fixes its accuracy and the accuracy of blizzard, dragon tail is your physical move as it allows you to force the blizzard switch-ins out and at +1 it does some considerable damage, especially useful when paired with hazards.
Roost is there for longevity and even if the set lacks substitute the 56 HP Evs are still useful to avoid KO's from seismic toss.
The Evs are just enough for outspeeding max speed krook and maximize blizzard damage.

Katy

Banned deucer.
mixed hone claws cause that is really funny and having a more accurate blizzard is nice and also the strongest ice-type stab kyurem can have apart from the usual choice specs-boosted ice beams; in conclusion, my vote goes to: Mixed Hone Claws by Totomon Gang.

But great submissions overall!
