Project UU Next Best Thing Crown Tundra Edition: Week 52: Slowking | Voting Phase

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Foul Play
- Wish
- Protect
- Zap Cannon

Do you hate not being able to lure in shit like keldeo, nihilego, and in general special set up sweepers like celesteela, moltres-g, and being able to ruin pokemon like mienshao. Well now you can with zap cannon being able to paralyze the hell out of them and ruining most pokemon that would otherwise feed on umbreon

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Mean Look
- Spite
- Toxic / Taunt
- Rest

This set is a lure that attempts to draw in defensive Pokemon that would usually exploit Umbreon's passivity, then trap them in and PP stall them with Spite. Rest is chosen for recovery because it only needs one moveslot and you don't need to be attacking much to beat the stuff you want to with this set.

Screech+Foul Play Umbreon

Umbreon @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Foul Play
- Wish
- Protect
- Screech

The simple addition of Screech really transforms Umbreon because it turn Foul Play into a win condition, not to mention the fact that it allows to get past Unaware users, and it support well your teammate forcing switches. 85% accuracy is a thing, but it is worth the risk to miss.

This cycle's winner is the pain is excruciating with their Thief Umbreon submission! Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the hall of fame shortly and yes, I'll keep asking Aqua Jet to update the hall of fame ;_;
The Next Best Thing for this cycle is...
:ss/entei:
This legendary dog has a relatively solid niche as a Choice Band User, since Sacred Fire can spread burns while also having good BP and Extreme Speed can Revenge Kill faster threats such as Azelf, Zygarde-10% and Thundurus-Therian after some chip. Not to mention it has solid coverage in form to Stone Edge and Crunch allowing it to hit through many checks. However, the legendary dog has been getting some competition by certain monkey (Darmanitan) and he wants to differenciate itself from it, plus he also has a colorful movepool that we're not taking in consideration, what can you do with it?

Entei @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Extreme Speed
- Stone Edge
- Toxic / Flare Blitz

This Entei sports Heavy-Duty Boots to allow it to come in more often throughout a game. A Jolly nature is chosen to outspeed Excadrill and speed tie with Salamence. Toxic is my preferred option in the last slot to hit Fire-type resists, but you can also use Flare Blitz to not allow Sacred Fire's low PP to be exploited.

Entei @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sacred Fire/Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Stone Edge/Crunch
- Howl

With Howl, Entei can become a dangerous cleaner that be hard to deal with offensive from Extreme Speed, while defensively, Entei can nail though Checks/Counters once weakened, LO is here so that Entei can break easily, I prefer Sacred Fire since unlike Flare Blitz, it doesn’t have recoil damage and can cripple the common physical Water, Ground, and Rock Types such as Swampert and Lycanroc-Dusk, Extreme Speed is here to pick off weakened mons, For coverage, Stone Edge can be used to hit Water Types that would wall Entei otherwise, However, Swampert and Quagsire can take advantage of this with ease, for that reason, I personally runned Crunch on Entei during the beginning of October Shifts, and it can be used to hit them better than Stone Edge, especially with its low PP and poor accuracy, and can lure in Slowking, The key reason why it’s here,

Suicide Support Entei

Entei @ Air Baloon
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flare Blitz
- Snarl
- Extreme Speed

Here we have a different approach with Entei that uses some utility moves such as Snarl and WoW to ruin some opposing attackers before being revenge killed or dying with the STAB Flare Blitz. Flare Blitz is picked over Sacred Fire mainly for the extra power and the recoil that allows us to keep the momentum if Entei dies in the process.
Flare Blitz alongside Inner Focus is a huge trait because it allows to dish out some serious damage, and WoW is much more reliable than Sacred Fire when you want to burn the target (85% is > than 47,5% including accuracy).
Snarl is the filler move, totally unexpected in Singles but very well known in Doubles. Here, is still a good move to cripple the opposite special attacker that may think to be safe in front of a burning dog.
Extreme Speed is a filler that allows Entei to revenge kill some weakened threats while avoiding Sucker Punch thanks to the priority.

VinTei
:ss/entei:
Entei @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Protect
- Calm Mind
- Lava Plume

The aim of this set is to PP stall some low-PP moves from usual Entei checks, while being able to fish for burns to get extra setup opportunities, slowly turning Entei into a potent win condition. It's a variation on the more well-known VinCune.

Reserving Specs Entei

:heat rock: Sun SpecsTei :heat rock:
:ss/entei:
Entei @ Choice Specs :choice specs:
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Eruption
- (Fire STAB Here)
- Scorching Sands / Shadow Ball / Extrasensory
- Solar Beam

This set premiers Entei's use of Eruption on Sun Teams. Choice Specs Eruption under Sun OHKO's - 2HKO's pretty much the entire tier, barring SpD Swampert and Slowking which it carries Solar Beam for. SpecsTei requires a secondary STAB (I.E. Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Heat Wave, Lava Plume) as hazards can gradually reduce Eruption's power, making Entei a less potent breaker. Its optimal tertiary moveslot is Scorching Sands, which allows SpecsTei to hit Chandelure as well as Nihilego and Tentacruel outside of Sun. However, other options can be ran according to team structure such as Shadow Ball or Extrasensory.

Inner Focus is used to bluff a Physical Set, Pressure is a dead giveaway that this is not Choice Band Entei.

EVs are standard Specs and a Modest nature is used to create more favorable rolls and breaking opportunities. Timid can be used as well, however, its breaking power outside of Sun will be very limited.

This set has trouble breaking Moltres and Rotom-H outside of Sun, having a partner which can break shared checks or counter them is necessary.

HDB by Celebiii.
Heavy-Duty Boots preserves it well throughout the course of a game, as hazards limit the turns that other sets have.

VinTei was cool, however, I think the consistency of its checks and its weakness to hazards limits its viability too much to shine.
