Yanmega (F) @ Focus Sash

Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 104 Def/152 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Protect
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Hidden Power [Ground]
Yanmega is currently both the best and the worst poke in UU. Every team needs a plan for the inevitable Yanmega, and once it becomes BL (I hope to God it becomes BL) I’ll need a new lead, but for now this is the best option for me. Bug Buzz and Air Slash are both great STAB moves, but that leaves Yanmega vulnerable to Steel pokes, which are hit with HP Ground (although Registeel still walls this). HP Fire would be good for OU, and luckily a few people assume its Fire when they see the super-effective against steel and switch in Arcanine or Houndoom, but either way, Yanmega will eventually fall to the Steel- or Fire-type. This set also has trouble with Sucker Punch Honchkrow.

Drifblim (F) @ Chesto Berry

Ability: Unburden
EVs: 12 HP/252 Def/88 Spd/124 SAtk/32 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Rest
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
This is my unexpected sweeper. I bring it in against Registeel usually once it KO’s Yanmega and proceed to Calm Mind through whatever status is thrown at it (unless the Registeel has Shadow Claw). A sleep move is actually welcome as it speeds up the set-up process. After 4 Calm Minds it can sweep entire teams. Neither Ice Shard nor Assurance from Donphan can 2HKO so really any stall/support pokemon is good to switch in on and begin the set-up. The biggest problems to Drifblim are Drapion and Honchkrow, both of which can KO it before it can put a huge dent in either, and also any phazer can render Drifblim useless since it’s basically a one-shot set-up.

Sceptile (F) @ Leftovers

Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Earthquake
- Outrage
Leaf Blade and Earthquake provide great coverage, but Sceptile is left weak to Flying and Dragons. Rock Slide is less powerful and less accurate than Outrage, and even with the 3 turns locked-in that Outrage provides, as long as I get the Steels out of the way, it can cause some serious damage, especially against Altaria, who would otherwise laugh at this set.

Blaziken (F) @ Choice Scarf

Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Flare Blitz
- Superpower
- Thunderpunch
- Fire Punch
This is my super revenge killer. Blaziken can OHKO Honchkrow after it’s destroyed Yanmega or can OHKO and outspeed both Mismagius and Dugtrio (barring scarfed Dugtrio) with Flare Blitz. Thunderpunch is on here to hit waters, but it can’t 2HKO Blastoise, Milotic, Kingler, or Feraligatr, so it serves as more of a small hit on a predicted switch rather than a method of KO. I replaced Blaze Kick with Fire Punch due to the former’s 90% accuracy: it seems to let you down more than work for you.

Slowbro (F) @ Leftovers

Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Slack Off
- Surf
- Psychic
Slowbro is the best defensive wall in the metagame, and the Calm Mind variant can cause huge amounts of damage, being able to KO Mismagius and Rotom after just one or two CM’s. Even though it’s slow, the bulked up SpD can make Slowbro impossible to take down without Toxic. Chansey can usually PP Stall Slowbro’s Slack Offs, and powerful Grass-type moves can still OHKO Slowbro even after a few CM’s.

Whiscash (F) @ Life Orb

Ability: Anticipation
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Bounce
Whiscash is my experimental HG/SS move poke. I feel it’s a better Dragon Dancer than Crawdaunt due to its higher speed (even if it’s just slightly) and better dual-STAB. Bounce on here is more of a psychological move (due to it both being inaccurate and not-that-powerful). After one DD, it won’t OHKO Torterra, Meganium, or Venusaur, but most people seem to not want to take the Bounce damage, switching usually to a Steel- or Rock-type, which is then dealt with by Earthquake. After one DD, it can OHKO Roserade with Earthquake and after 2 DDs it can 2HKO Slowbro with Earthquake. It doesn’t last long as it can’t take a hit very well alongside losing 10% each attack with LO, but it can score at least one or two KO’s before it bites the dust.

What do you think I could change to improve my team? I’m thinking about replacing Yanmega with Uxie (SR, Screens, Memento) in order to get up some rocks and provide some protection (which will aid in getting Whiscash those KOs), I’m just not sure if going from an offensive lead to a support lead will work as well for this team. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
