Hi guys, this is my 1st RMT that I'm posting on smogon. All I can guarantee you is that this isn't a team commonly seen in UU battles. This team is an innovative team by me consisting of pokemon which i feel have enormous potential. Try it out and let me know of any improvements that can be made :)
Here's my team:
Torterra (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Def / 44 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock
I use lead Torterra because I feel that it can take hits extremely well, set-up SR and hit back extremely hard with STAB Wood Hammer and Earthquake. When using my team, do your best to save Torterra for later on, you might need it to tank some hits. However, this team won't mind losing Torterra that much. Priority is to take out opponent's lead ASAP and set up SR, or this team might get ripped to shreds. The moveset I used is basically the Tank set from Smogon.
Ambipom (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Return
- Fake Out
- U-turn
- Payback
Ambipom's the ace of this team. Many people use Ambipom as a suicide lead, yet its potential lies in much more than that. Its basically a TechniTop, but with an STAB Return, which, when combined with Fake Out, can basically KO anything that does not resist it. Payback can be used to hit any ghost switching in on a prediced Fake Out. U-Turn is usually used after KOing the opponent's pokemon to deal some damage to the Ambipom counter. Ambipom's only bane is STAB priority attacks that can OHKO, especially after several Life Orb recoils, but wreaks havoc with both walls and sweepers without them.
Slaking (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Truant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Return
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch
- Shadow Claw
Many people overlook Slaking due to its extremely troublesome ability. However, by utilising it in a hit-and-run team, it can be used very effectively as a revenge killer. A Choice-Banded Slaking easily OHKOs many pokemon in the UU metagame, especially with its wide range of coverage. While using Slaking, remember to use it early-game, so that you won't be stuck on Choiced Slaking as a last pokemon and a Truant ability.
Spiritomb (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 24 HP / 252 Def / 232 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Shadow Sneak*
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
- Sucker Punch*
Spiritomb is a great wall to rely on in UU, especially it's handy immunity to Fighting-type moves and rapid spin. It counters fighting types well, since Ambipom, Slaking and Regice attract Fighting-typed counters to KO them, by switching into them and hitting them with a crippling WoW. Also, it can easily outstall and burn and accumulated SS/SP damage them to death, then Pain Split to recover its health, despite it being an unreliable healing move.
Dugtrio (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch
- Night Slash
Classic revenge-killer/trap killer. Use this on electric pokemon / weak-defence pokemon who try to bait out Ambipom or Slaking, switch to a Ghost-type and start to revenge kill them. With its speed, Dugtrio easily outspeeds many UU pokemon. Just make sure that the opponent's health is sufficient to be OHKOed by any attack. Also be wary of Sucker Punch or any other priority attacks : the last thing Dugtrio needs is a STAB priority move on its frail defences.
Regice @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Thunderbolt
SleepTalk Regice... nothing much to say. Use this as a status absorber and removing those irritating physical walls that can't be KOed by your attackers. Main purpose is as a wall. DUH
How to use:
It's pretty simple actually. Torterra SRs and tries to KO opponent lead and stay healthy if possible. Then switch in Spiritomb (Spread burn) or Ambipom (start hitting them with Fake Out, Return, U-Turn to a wall/counter) If the opponent switches in a grounded Electric, Steel, Fire or Rock type, start laughing evilly, sacrifice your wall and give Dugtrio a free switch in. Remember to use Slaking too. This team ain't about sweeping 6-0 or something. Usually be as close as 1 Pokemon. Don't worry about sacrificing the walls to give your attackers free switches : they thrive on them.
