XY UU UU RMT

Yo I've got a UU team that I've been using over the past few days that works great except when facing Suicune and Scarfdreigon, which is a huge part of the metagame atm.

Froslass (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Destiny Bond
- Taunt
- Ice Beam

Froslass is the lead on my team, but as of recent has been failing me due to people easily predicting her DBonds and Taunts is making it hard to get up 2 or more layers of spikes. Ice Beam is for Gligar and Crobat/Golbat that may come in and try to defog away. I think I may replace her with another spike setter that can actually do something else other than die.

yanmega.gif

Yanmega @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Protect
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Giga Drain

My late-game cleaner, the guy the team that was built around, Yanmega. The moves are pretty self-explanatory, Giga Drain is a must have for Swampert and Quagsire. Still sucks against Suicune though. Not much more to say other than this guy is a monster despite his BL2 status.

snorlax.gif

Snorlax @ Assault Vest
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Pursuit

Part 1 of my Defensive Core, AV Snorlax is my favorite special wall currently in UU. Not only does it do the role of a bulky attacker, typing and ability really help it deal with prominent special attackers in the tier like Nidoking and Chandelure. Not to mention his moves suit Snorlax extremely well for his role.

gligar.gif

Gligar @ Eviolite
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Defog
- U-turn
- Roost

why do i put this thing on every team Gligar is an extremely useful Pokemon as he helps remove rocks and just hazards in general to support the team, especially Yanmega. He works extremely well with Snorlax, as nobody will use fighting type moves on Gligar but they will use special moves. I've found that this core is extremely susceptible to Knock Off, which is definitely a problem

mienshao.gif

Mienshao @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
- U-turn

Scarf Mienshao is one of my favorite mons in UU atm. Not only does it completely destroy half the tier, but it works well with Gligar with U-Turn shenanigans to help get sweepers in unscathed. High Jump Kick hits like a truck, but sadly can't deal with Suicune either due to it's frailness and being completely crippled by Scald burns/High Jump Miss.

hydreigon.gif

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 56 Atk / 220 SpA / 232 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Iron Tail
- Superpower

Man I love this Hydreigon. It completely shuts down a lot of the major cores in the current meta, mainly ones that revolve around Florges and some physically defensive shit. This is one Pokemon that I don't want to change on my team as it's one of my most reliable team members whenever I'm in a pinch.

Well, what can you experts do so that I can take on some of the more prominent threats a bit easier? Thanks.

Hey this is a pretty solid team for the most part, there are just a couple suggestions I would make to cover the threats that you talked about above. Firstly, even though Froslass is a solid spike setter, although it should be used on more offensive teams that will keep up offensive pressure and preventing hazards from being removed. I would recommend running Roserade over Froslass, as it both provides spikes or toxic spikes while also checking suicune, which is currently a problem for your team. The roserade set you use is up to your preference, as roserade has a very diverse movepool. I'm a fan of life orb technician dual stab hp fire t spikes personally, since it hits pretty hard and has few switchins. T spikes also got better when heracross left, as you no longer fear giving it a guts boost just by it switching in. I would also run Vaporeon over Snorlax. Snorlax is real susceptible to hazards/status without recovery, and won't check special attackers like nidoqueen or darmanitan that well with as Vaporeon. Base 110 attack without curse or a choice band is also pretty underwhelming, so it's not a huge loss of offensive pressure in replacing snorlax for vaporeon. Overall this is a cool team you have here, and good luck laddering with it!

Hey, thanks for the advice on my team. I've added these 2 sets to replace Froslass and Snorlax, respectively.

roserade.gif

Roserade @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Sludge Bomb
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Scald
- Roar

EDIT: I decided against Vaporeon after some team testing as it really doesn't benefit my team as much as Snorlax though. I'm giving a Roserade a try.

A couple of things about the roserade set. Firstly, I wouldn't run it as a lead, as you don't need to have a dedicated lead unless you're using a suicide lead such as azelf. So running black sludge or life orb over focus sash would be more useful. Secondly, it would be better to run giga drain over leaf storm since leaf storm roserade can't break crocune, while giga drain rose can. I would show that it can't with a calc but for some reason the damage calc has lagging a ton on my phone recently.

Yeah i did change Leaf Storm to Giga Drain a bit earlier and I'll take your advice on the Black Sludge>Focus Sash
