UU Stall!

I like the UU metagame as it brings a wide variety of unique yet usable pokemon that can be used effectively. There isn't any centralization of any threats so I decided to make a stall team after failing some offensive teams.

1 (Claydol) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 240 HP/84 Def/184 SDef
Gentle nature (+SDef, -Def)
- Reflect
- Rapid Spin
- Trick
- Earth Power

My lead - I usually start off with a Trick or a Reflect. I should give it some speed but he's there to tank and support with really only 1 offensive move, not actually deal damage. He's role in the team is to keep Shedinja alive because as we know, he doesn't like any Hazards :(. Reflect makes up for the lack of EVs in Defence. Trick allows me to take out 1 pokemon usually getting me leftovers. If I get a Focus Sash or a Lum Berry then I can still screw over more pokemon.

2 (Shedinja) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Wonder Guard
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Will-o-wisp
- X-Scissor
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
---

My Rapid Spin blocker. This thing blocks all Rapid Spins and more. I'm not afraid to lose the Focus Sash if I can fire off a Will-o-wisp onto incoming threat, usually a Physical sweeper. His role of Rapid Spin blocker also doubles to improve his late game clean-up when all the residual damage has added up so that they are within range of Shadow Sneak or a +2 Shadow Sneak.

3 (Steelix) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/120 Def/136 SDef
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Roar
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
---

Standard Steelix and the best damn-physical wall in UU, Nuff said. Has troubles with the occasional Probopass and Articuno due to 1 attack.

4 (Meganium) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 208 HP/16 Def/152 SAtk/132 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Aromatherapy
- Light Screen
- Leech Seed
---

Another standard set. Evs are placed so that it has 353 HP for maximum leftovers coverage +1, 240 Defense, 240 SpAttack and 295 SpDefense. What can I say? I like neat round numbers :).

5 (Clefable) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP/72 Def/184 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Wish
- Thunder Wave
- Protect
- Seismic Toss
---

Brilliant thing, I think this is one of the best Special tanks in UU.
Standard set with Protect over Encore. I protect to see what they will do and then switch to according the Resistance/Set that I have. Wish/Protect is a nice combo and Wish is great for the team. Although Encore is a nice way to prevent setting up I use another Pokemon that does the same with a different move. I could still use it though. Protect may screw me over if I used Protect and they go for another round of setting up instead of an Encore that may have been.

6 (Drapion) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 252 HP/140 Def/116 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Taunt
- Knock Off
- Crunch
---

My supporting defensive anti-set-up guy. Battle Armor is great for NO CRITS and a decent base speed of 95 lets me Taunt various forms of setting from sweeping to stalling. Only 1 weakness with a handful of resistances and immunities is great. Extra special defense to take on the many Water pokes in UU that use unboosted Surfs. Taunt works well on those same Water pokes to stop Toxics and I get a free switch to Shedinja safely because many of them carry Toxic. Although Taunt is good I have troubles sometimes when someone set-ups say Swords Dances or Bulk-Ups but now they can start attacking which forces me to switch to another wall. I guess I like Taunt because it also stops other stuff like Aromatherapy and Status effects as well.

Closing thoughts..
As long as I keep the threats off the table and move them around to allow free set-ups for me I go ok. But when something sturdy comes and starts to say Swords Dances and I can't get rid of it I usually have to sacrifice 1 or 2 pokes to get it down. An example maybe Toxicroak which I usually have to lose the Sash of my Shedninja to get off a Will-o-wisp.
My team relies on Meganium too much for Water resistance and so predicted repeated Ice Beams can spell trouble if I can't get a Screen in or they are faster. I was maybe thinking of putting Encore Quagsire in for Water Resist and Encore support.

with claydol, don't go gentle, go calm. he's not using any physical attacks (rapid spin is NOT an attack), so he's not going to suffer by losing out on his attack stat.

also, because you've got toxic spikes on drapion, thunderwave on clefable, and will-o-wisp on shedinja, you don't need toxic on steelix. this would help with your articuno problems.

i could also say, since this is a stall team, do you need thunderwave on clefable? who really benefits from the speed? stick another attack on him, perhaps?

decent team overall, just keep tweaking depending on what you face.

If you are stalling, Stealth Rock should be up as soon as possible, so having Stealth rock on Claydol would be a good idea. If not, you can change to Steelix as your lead.

As for your spin blocker, Shedinja is totally unreliable, so you can go for Froslass or Rotom. The former could provide you with Spikes support, while the latter has a lot of useful resistances and can use ResTalk, which is really nessecary on a Stall Team.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Currently, your Team is not really comfortable with Hitmonlee, as he can do 50% atleast to each of your member and thats not at all healthy on a stall team. For this problem, you could add a Weezing over Drapion.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Also, in UU, Toxic Spikes isn't really viable due to the large number of Poison Pokemons such as Venusaur, Toxicroak, Drapion, Muk, etc. so you could try replacing him with the above mentioned Weezing or some other Defensive Pokemon, who can Phaze, as Phazing helps you rack up residual damage.

-------------------------------------------------------------

My team relies on Meganium too much for Water resistance and so predicted repeated Ice Beams can spell trouble if I can't get a Screen in or they are faster. I was maybe thinking of putting Encore Quagsire in for Water Resist and Encore support.
You could also try Lanturn, who literally stalls out and shuts down Rain Teams, who seem to be giving some problems for you at the moment.

If you replace Meganium and Drapion, just see to it that your team does not fall apart to Specs Venusaur, who seems to be rising in popularity.

EDIT: Removal of Drapion makes you extremely vulnerable to Absol, so if you are going to use Drapion, either use a move that can hurt Absol, or use Whirlwind.

Hope I helped.
