UU Team for OU

Hey guys! Got another RMT here for 4th Gen. I designed this UU team to actually be decent in OU play (I know, it's not gonna be able to be highly effective, I'm just trying to be good in UU and somewhat viable for OU). I tested it in Pokemon Online with a bit of luck actually (almost won a battle, but a Dragonite and Heatran beat me first). I love all the immunities in the team!

Please be thorough, and any suggestions will be tested and appreciated!

Ambipom (F) @ Silk Scarf Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fake Out
- Last Resort

Just a simple setup here that can take down at least 1 Pokemon in most cases. Start off with Fake Out using max Attack and Speed, then go for a 130 BP Last Resort. This can deal good damage to any non-Ghost, and KO a lot of Pokemon who aren't Rock or Steel. Silk Scarf helps both moves and Technician powers up Fake Out even more. (so far, only Gengar has messed this one up a lot)

Sableye (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Toxic
- Knock Off
- Recover

Now before anyone says it, I am going to be using Sableye. It's one of my favorite Pokemon even if it's not that good, so I will be trying to find some use for it (someone owned me with one before). Anyway, its typing, nature, and EVs gives it decent Physical defensive capabilites. The idea is to Burn physical attackers with WOW, then Recover+Leftovers help to try and stall it pretty well. Knock Off is for Life Orbs, Choice Items, Leftovers (really messes up Blissey). Toxic is to stall against Special enemies as well.

Scyther (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Bug Bite
- Aerial Ace
- Brick Break
- Swords Dance

My main physical attacker in the team. Life Orb, Technician, and STAB really hurts a lot of Pokemon (and the moves have nice coverage), especially if they're weak to its moves. Brick Break hits Blissey and certain other walls nicely, especially if they lost their Leftovers to Sableye. Swords Dance shouldn't need explanation. Basically good coverage here.

Espeon (F) @ Wise Glasses
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Psychic
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Trick

Espeon is my fast and strong Special Attacker here. Psychic, Grass Knot, and HP Fire have really good coverage together, and the EVs, Nature, and Wise Glasses are for max power. Espeon cannot afford to be Choiced, so I thought the Glasses would be a better choice. HP Fire can OHKO Scizor and Forretress, and the other attacks hit very well (given that it can outspeed). Lastly, Trick is to try and cripple Pokemon that would kill Espeon otherwise.

Weezing (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 74 SAtk
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Flamethrower
- Sludge Bomb
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

My Physical Wall. Its typing offers good resistances and very few weaknesses with Levitate. It can come in on Scizor and OHKO with Flamethrower. Sludge Bomb is for a strong STAB, and hits Grass types nicely. Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attackers even more, and Pain Split is a last ditch effort to either survive or weaken the opponent. Black Sludge is obvious.

Mismagius (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 80 SAtk / 176 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Shadow Ball

My Support (?). Basically a similar set to Weezing. Will-O-Wisp cripples Physical attackers while her Special Defense can help survive against others. Taunt stops setups and messes up other defensive Pokemon, whil Pain Split acts similarly to Weezing's role to it. Shadow Ball is for a STAB attack. Leftovers and HP helps it become a pseudo-wall. (I was thinking of making this more into a Special Wall, or using Calm Mind and Substitute so it can wall Special attackers while doing some good damage.

Things I notice

1- a lack of a spinner,

You are trying to sweep with scyther, BUt you take 50% from The Amazing move called stealth rocks,

2- Espeon Needs a scarf

It is true that espeon is a powerhour in the NU tier, but it really stand no chance in ou without a scarf

3- Extremly Weak To sub Gengar

Sub gengar is goin to have a field day on your team, Hitting evertying extremly hard,
Some sort of special wall would be loved on this team. Chancey or kecleon would be nice for a spdef wall, but even kecleon has a hard time with gengar as the colour change makes it a ghost type that it gets pwned. All the spec walls are psychic in nu bar kecleon which causes a problem/

Final thoughts

I suggest using Hitmontop, Or donphan - Donphan would be preferd as it can hit gegnar with ice shard

Scarf ON espeon > Wise glasses

Add a special Wall

hope i helped

edit: also i know you choose to use sableye, But dusclops is way more bulky

Thanks, Shuckle4Ubers!

I'll try each of those out soon, ok? I was thinking of changing Espeon's items anyway, and I was thinking of Donphan when first starting this team. I was originally thinking of Mismagius as a Special Wall, but idk what set to use...

Any recommendations for a good Special Wall in UU or below? Or are Kecleon and Chansey the only viable options here?

Thank you! :3

well since you are so ghost weaks, (gengar and rotoms spacificly) i would suggest chancey, Most special walls in nu, i can think of are weak to ghost (hypno being known as the blissey of nu) and kecleon can be changed type from normal to elec to ghost.

As far as special walls go, Chansey is the best bet. If you don't want to use her, Keckleon can handle Gengar just fine if it carries Shadow Sneak. Gengar needs two hits to get super-effective STAB from Color Change; one to remove the normal typing, and one to get the Ghost typing. For Kecleon's to beat SubGengar, He needs one turn to break the sub, but then immediately threatens with Super-Effective priority. Here's a good set:

Spr_4d_352.png

Keckleon@Leftovers
Careful Nature, 252HP, 180 Att, 72 Sp.D
Shadow Sneak
Recover
Return
Toxic/Thunder Wave

With the given EVs, Keckleon can 2HKO SubGengar after a Substitute with a STAB Shadow Sneak and a non-STAB Shadow Sneak; also, he survives a SE Focus Blast and Shadow Ball, assuming no prior damage (and I mean NONE). Shadow Sneak hits Ghosts hard, while Recover is for regaining lost HP. Return is STAB, and the status depends on what you want. Toxic helps with walls, while Scyther will appreciate spreading some paralysis.

Shuckle already mentioned using a RS Donphan, which is a good idea. I'd replace Weezing with Donphan and Mismagius with your Special Wall (assuming you won't replace Sableye. If you've reconsidered on that, keep Mismagius)

If you need to keep Sableye, change the Defense EVs into Sp.D. Will-O-Wisp handles Physical threats well, so he needs more bulk on the special side.

That's it. Good luck!

Hi. I looked over your team and I noticed not only is your team lacking Stealth Rock support, you also have a pretty noticeable weakness to it (primarily Scyther). For this I spent some time thinking of a UU Pokemon that can double up and benefit your team in a few different ways. What I came up with was offensive Stealth Rock Kabutops. What this does is not only provide your team with valuable Stealth Rock support, it can also Rapid spin Stealth rock from damaging your team, and causing scyther tons of damage. Not only does it do those two very valuable things, it can also give you an extra check to rain teams, which otherwise cause you a lot of damage, as Kabutops has Swift swim and also gets a Water-type move boost. Here is the set I had in mind:

Kabutops @ Focus Sash / Life Orb
Nature @ Jolly
Ability @ Swift Swim
evs: 252 atk / 252 Speed
-Stealth Rock
-Rapid Spin
-Stone edge
-Waterfall / Aqua Jet

I left you a few options of preference as well, also feel free to maybe play around with it a bit to match your style/team better. I would probably put this over Ambipom. Good luck I hope this helps!
